Clementine didn't stay at the Ranch, she fought for AJ.
Some people think Clementine stayed in the McCarrol Ranch and then something happened made her have nightmares and getting traumatized, well in my opinion I think that after she left Richmond soon after (1-2 day skip) she finally found him and took him and probably had a fight there and my proof is her having the same outfit she had the same day at the end of ANF. With her jeans kinda torn and her jacket too (after a fight?).

(Also, I noticed AJ being grown up but maybe they showed him at that age (4-6) because they needed to promote the final season and him actually looking like that for the majority of the game? i dunno)
(I know it's possible for people to wear clothes up to months but if she was staying in the ranch wouldn't they give her new outfits :P?)
So yeah, I believe she took him by power.. so whaddya think?

Keep in mind they want to erase anything ANF related and make the players forgot about that shitshow as much as they could lol.. i wouldnt buy the game if they kept her with that stupid haircut
That's most likely only because they truly intended for the red jacket to be her attire for this, but changed their minds relatively late.
I honestly think her staying at the ranch doesnt make sense
She promised Javi to come back as soon as she get the little brat, wouldn't make sense abandoning Richmond and staying with a couple of strangers she just met offering her to stay and leave her friends.
No she 100% stayed at the Ranch because if she showed up and had to fight and killed everyone for Aj she would have just went back to Richmond with Aj. Only other alternative is Clem was held prisoner for like 2 years which is pretty unlikely.
Maybe you're right, but wouldn't make more sense if this was the timeline
Search for AJ - confront the Ranch's owners - fight them over AJ - get traumatized at some point of the fight - survive and take AJ back to richmond (leaving javi to stay with strangers?) - something bad happened to Richmond - 2-4 years later The Final Season begins with him on the road
the only thing that doesnt support my theory is AJ actually remembering the ranch and "the blood" at a very young aj

I dont think that picture is related to Clementine after she rescued AJ from the McCarrol Ranch.
I know you already said that he is already grown because they needed to promote the final season, but still it doesn't make sense, he was like 2 years old in Season 3 and he couldn't even walk, in that pic he's the same AJ we have in S4.
Also Clementine has the ponytails, her hair couldn't be able to grow so fast in 1-2 days after Javier gave her a haircut.
That pic is used to compare an adult Clementine protecting AJ just like Lee was protecting her in the S1 pic.
If something bad happened at Richmond after they returned, then Aj would talk about the bad thing that happened at Richmond, not the Ranch because Aj wouldnt be old enough to remember what happened at the Ranch at that point of the time line.
Yes.. everything might be promotional, but I wouldn’t buy Clem staying with strangers she just met and leave Javi hanging and giving us answer to what happened to both the ranch and richmond.. other than this explanation everything doesn’t make sense for me at least.. and yes, that also includes the sick fucks who says she got gang raped.. if telltale could imply those kind of things in their games they would’ve done it before..

I see your point, but so far there isn't a lot of reference of ANF in this season, so yeah it might be true the devs want us to forget about that game.. also Aj doesn't mention Richmond maybe because the Ranch fought back as soon as they came back and AJ couldn't even stay a day in there.. or because it's determinant at the end because it's up to the player if he wants javi to take control over richmond (which i did)

someone recently got banned i remembered made a thread called "this theory creeps me out.." and said the guys at the ranch did horrible things to her basically just because in the first sneak peak of e2 she took a short glimpse at her pants lol

It's been around 4 years since A New Frontier. So, I'm betting money that Clementine did infact stay at The Ranch for a good while. But something probably so traumatic happened there that was enough to give her nightmares all these years later. Probably another reason why she ditched the red jacket. It kept reminding her of what went down there.
I have two Theories:
If three out of four are alive (Linguard, Clint, Max,and David) Javi and Co is kicked out because of the mixed feelings of the walker incident. If Joan is still alive and there is only two or less of the mentioned above Joan will send a man hunt on Javi and co which would mean his death. Regardless Clem has to get blood on her hands to take AJ by force.
The Ranch is the Slaughter House. Clem is forced to torture people or watch torture because she needs to stay there till winter ends for food. Which would explain the nightmares.
They'll have to explain why she didn't just go back to Richmond or even the Kingdom at some point, if shes really looking for a safe location to raise AJ those would be the locations to go, not the ass end of nowhere Virginia.
Regardless, all will be revealed in 8 days.
