Way better than last week. Wasn't sure I would enjoy this show last week to be honest, because I thought the first episode was kinda meh mostly (except for some bits). But this week was really strong throughout. Very excited for next week
Liked this episode a lot more than last week, ball is actually rolling now. Overall though I still would say Im not as into as I was Wandavision, but I still enjoy it. After this episode I would say that I am a lot more "into it" though because now like I said, actually feels like a plot is forming unlike last week.
I'm liking how the show is moving along. The pace is speeding up, and I'm excited for next week.
Glad to see that Bucky and Sam seem to be headed off on their globe-trotting adventure now. I guess that means we won't be seeing Sam's sister or Bucky's therapy sessions for a bit. (They're a nice backdrop to more intimate moments with the characters, but not sure how they can juggle those in when the main quest just started.
My heart broke at the start seeing the cheery interview with fake Cap, cut with Depressed Bucky, alone, on the floor in his apartment. Jeez. To see your friend's whole legacy so unexpectedly given away like that. Someone give this man a hug!
I'm into Walker and Hoskins' friendly relationship. I'm not into Walker's taking up of the shield, no sir. He does not deserve it.
(Also, the costume is pretty cool, but the helmet it weird. When he's normal "John Walker", he's a pretty decent-looking guy, but when he's wearing the helmet he looks so goofy! I guess it's something about the shape.)
I'm a bit iffy on Sam and Bucky's whole uncertain-buddy dynamic. (The writing seems focused way more on silly banter and one-liners between the two), but it might grow on me. I liked Bucky's line "I read the Hobbit in 1937, when it first came out!" and the therapy session between the two at the end.
Wow, so it seems the Flag Smashers have an enemy of their own too, some Power Broker group.
Zemo arrives next week! I'm excited. They seem to be setting him up to kinda help the duo, but I'm a bit skeptical. (Though Zemo turning on them by the end would be pretty cliché.)

Yeah, I'm a bit surprised how heavy the MCU is leaning into racial issues like this. The Bank scene and government turncoat in the last episode and this episode's stuff with Isaiah is uncomfortable as all hell (and that's the point), but it's cool to finally see the Film side of the MCU go into issues it's mostly overlooked so far.

It's only 6 episodes. If you're so turned off by it, wait 2 weeks, then come back and maybe the plot will get to a spot you're comfortable with. There's a lot of jumping around so far, but I think it'll smooth out soon.
I do feel some of the Sam and Bucky banter could use some work as it is a bit odd. Some works some don't.
For Walker I think they purposely made it so he looks a bit odd with the helmet because he is suppose to sort of feel like a knock off. Also I've seen a weird amount of people thinking Walker will become super generic bad guy but I don't think they'll go that route. His comic origins are a lot deeper than "Bad Captain America." He is basically suppose to be some guy who isn't a bad person, but his value's are not the same Steve Rogers and are by far much more violent and uncaring of long term consequences, just getting the job done. Already he has been given a lot more depth with how they are presenting him, so I think by the end of the series Sam becomes the real New Captain America and Walker becomes US Agent. Then again, it is always possible they do something lame with him like they did Hayward where he starts out seemingly like he can become a really complex character but then they just went "Eh idk hes just ultra bad and shit cuz he is."

Really enjoyed the latest episode, though I do think it's the weakest episode so far. Still good but didn't quite hit the highs that the previous episodes had. The episode had a very John Wick-eque vibe to it, the action was great and I was surprised at how violent the episode was despite the overall lighter tone. Lovin' the return of Zemo too. We're already halfway through the show. Looking forward to next week once again!
After looking it up, turns out that the episode was written by Derek Kolstad who wrote all the John Wick movies, which explains certain things.
I love that Zemo tries to re-activate Bucky with the Hydra code. I was thinking to myself just before they scene that it would be great if that happened, and lo and behold!
Zemo has officially become the Baron and we get to see his Sokovian death squad skills in action! I wonder how long this partnership with Zemo is going to last.
While it was a little jarring at first, I like the direction they took with Sharon with her feeling like she's been wronged by the Avengers after everything she did for them. I have a feeling she might be the Powerbroker.
The Madripoor scenes felt like something out of John Wick. Especially the part with the bounties being placed on the gang. Not to mention the scenes in the shipping yard with Sharon kicking ass.
I recognised those metal orbs at the end the instance I saw them! Cool to see the return of Ayo.
This was a pretty good episode. I'd say it's the weakest of the bunch so far, as the plot felt kinda shaky and rough, but it was nice.
I like the return of Zemo and there was some pretty brutal action here. Maybe I'm just used to the mostly-combat-averse WandaVision, but some of that choreography had me wincing in metaphorical pain. The dialogue between Sam and Bucky felt a bit better this time, and I loved the comedy in sneaking into Madripoor.
(And yeah, I agree with Lupin that this episode was very John Wick-ish. I'll get into that in the spoiler tag)
I do find it odd how they're suddenly taking Zemo's "Baron" title seriously. We didn't see any of these fancy clothes or private jets in Civil War. He just seemed like a normal guy whose family died and then wanted revenge on the Avengers.
Boy, the action was intense and pretty well-choreographed. A lot of the episode was also pretty similar in tone and style to the John Wick films (eerily so, and with good reason?)
The main writer, was, yes, Derek Kolstad. He's written all the JW movies and it shows here. We've got an episode all about a dark, neon-lit city. The main characters being hunted by literally everyone in the city (literally the plot of JW3), an ominous bike escort scene (also in JW3), a club scene (a JW staple), and smooth gun-kata and brutal combat.
The episode itself though felt a bit rough. We jumped around a lot. The club scene felt tacked-on, given we went from Sharon's house to the club, then a minute and a half later we're back out again for some reason. (we did get dancing Zemo tho, and idk if I think that's hilarious or freaky lol).
I am really mad at Marvel for backing away from making a Gray villain. The Flag Smashers so far have been pretty tame on the villainy scale. Would have been cool. But then they had to make Karli some "they got in our way/we need to send a message in blood" kind of villain. Damn it! They (and she) were a really interesting antagonist.
That end bit with Walker saying "we have to go off-the-books is a bit interesting. It doesn't seem like him to go behind his employer's back like that. (John Walker: Civil War inbound? )
Also ooooh Wakanda is getting into the mix of this show. Cool.
Gotta say I wish this series was a bit more interesting. I forgot the episode even came out this week. Now half way through it feels just kind of clunky. Not bad, not great, but I don't really want to say its good either. Really just decent entertainment. Kinda getting vibes this is going to end up on the low-tier end of Marvel stuff where after its done its pretty forgettable.
Honestly kind of crazy this was going to be the first show. I feel WandaVision was probably the best way to introduce MCU TV seeing how that show is literally about TV. This, not so much.
Still looking forward to see what happens next, but half way through and I feel like its missing a real hook. (Wish they were focusing more on the New Cap and Battlestar vs Sam and Bucky as I felt their rivalry in ep 2 was the more interesting part of the show. Looks like Ep 4 will probably give us more of that and I hope they do as I feel their rivially is a much better foil than the Flagsmashers they dont really interact with, with their leader who entered the generic baddie zone.)

Now this looks like it'll be a return to fun, very interesting plots for Marvel TV.
So far, the Falcon and Winter Soldier has felt more like the usual Marvel action film split into 6 parts.
It doesn't take advantage of the TV format as well as it could.
There's no nail-biting cliffhangers
No episode focusing on side-characters that tie into the main plot at a future point.
No bottle episode
Granted, we're only halfway through, but with only 3 episodes left, I don't see much of that happening.
Loki looks like another weird, interesting look into the Marvel-verse.
Already, seeing Owen Wilson being a key player is flippin' mental, hehe.
Okay, after further re-watches of that trailer, I'm so on board with that Loki theme song. It's frantic and unsettling, really different from what we've recently heard from WandaVision, TF&WS or even Black Widow.

Episode 4 of TFATWS is fuckin' amazing holy shit, I absolutely loved that! This might actually be my favourite episode of the series thus far. Next week can't come soon enough.

The Dora Milaje are so fuckin' cool. Loved the scene with them taking down Walker.
Loved the one on one between Sam and Karli with the Flagsmashers being expanded upon and Sam pointing out her hypocrisy.
Got more details on what Flagsmashers are fighting for with the "one country, no borders" and how the Blip caused the world to work together.
Little bit of interesting commentary with Walker talking about his tour in Afghanistan. Really surprised to hear something like that out of a Disney property.
I do wish we got to see Walker take the serum though, and see the kind of effect it had on him in the moment.
If anyone was wondering what would have happened if Steve had done what he did to Tony towards the end of Civil War but on a normal person you get your answer with this and it is pretty violent, goddamn. That might have been the most brutal death in the MCU so far, and to the guy who looked up to Cap as a kid too.
Walker goes off the deep end, though in a way that I can empathise with honestly. I can't even blame him for doing what he did. The way he went about doing what he did however, was a little too far, especially in front of all those people.
RIP Battlestar. Went out in a really surprisingly grounded way too. Thrown against a pillar and breaking his neck.
Pretty good episode as a whole but I feel a lot of the praise this episode is def because the ending is easily the best thing to happen in the show so far and is an actually "oh shit" moment that leaves me wanting to know what's next instead of just "guess that's it till next week."
After seeing the ending, it just continues to make me wish this show was about Sam and Bucky dealing with New Cap. It is honestly too crowded. Sharon I feel has kind of obviously been set up as the real Power Broker so thats gonna need to be fit in and most likely be ep 5's cliffhanger, and even if she isn't, that means just regular Power Broker still needs to pop up, Zemo escapes, and the Flagsmashers are honestly very, very boring and take up too much time. I get why they are there, but the script I feel involving them is so damn awkward that they really should just have been a generic terrorist group that Sam and Bucky are going after while Cap and Battlestar are as well, which focuses on what the real drama should be between and the meaning of the shield and mantle. I mean these fellas are saying how they must kill Captain America to prove their point, but UH OH! We killed Battlestar, time to stop fighting Captain America who we want to kill and run away!!! I just honestly find a lot of the plots progression and drama really, really artificial so I wish they took a different direction as a lot of the plot and theme feels so jumbled up. Hopefully going forward these last 2 episodes are more like this episode's ending.
This was definitely the best episode yet, action/tension-wise.
Yeah, the fact that Karli is actually an antagonist whose gone off the deep end, choosing who deserves to die in her path and who doesn't, still doesn't vibe with me. I think she's wasted potential. But at least she seems to be retaining that sliver of humanity and relatability. The conversation between her and Sam was some great stuff. Too bad American Pie came along to 'uphold justice'.
More Zemo shenanigans in this episode. Both with fun one-liners, crazy philosophies, creepy nursery rhymes and silly trust (why would you guys leave this man alone!! He's obviously gonna try and escape!)
Like seriously, wtf was up with that Nursery Rhyme scene? Creepy as hell, and no way would I trust or take candy from this guy. It was probably played that way for that exact reason, but... Damn it, Zemo!
How did Karli get Sarah's (Sam's sister's) number? I don't know what connections she has, but that seemed to come out of nowhere.
Oh yeah, the opening Wakanda scene was great. Cool to see they've got that CGI budget for a little Wakanda forest scene. Sebastian Stan doing some great emoting for the MCU in there.

Same, but I like how not seeing him do it kept us in deep suspense throughout the episode. It's only when you see him throw a guy across a room that it clicks.
Damn, Battlestar is dead. I'm not a fan that they killed him. He seemed like a character with a lot of potential if he broke away from Walker. (But I guess they had to do it to give Walker a crazy-if-understandable reason to go over the edge.)
Fun fact: In case you forgot, the Flag Smasher Walker kills at the end was the one who said he used to be a major Cap fan as a kid. What a dark way to go...
So it seems like Walker might turn out to be the Big Bad of this series? I think the main threat will be to deal with Karli, then Walker is gonna come along and get all macho about something, making Sam and Bucky have to go after him, too. (Kinda feels like another Agent Hayward situation coming along, but I hope not.)
The writer for John Wick was also the main writer for this episode. Glad to see it was an improvement from the last one. (And not like JW at all.)
He's also a co-executive producer. I wonder if his presence and push helped make this series just a touch darker and more brutal in the fights. Finally, a good TV cliffhanger!
Really enjoyed episode 5! By far the most "mellow" episode of the series so far Very little action, but a lot more drama, a couple of really emotional scenes, and some neat social commentary that is a lot more text than it is subtext! Also watch out, there's a mid-credits scene this week!
The fight at the start was great. Cringed really hard when Bucky broke Walkers arm.
I felt really bad for Walker during his trial. What he did, especially in public, was totally out of line but I completely understand why he did what he did.
Loved that they brought back Isaiah and had him tell his whole story. He and Sam's one-on-one in general was really powerful stuff and you completely understand his attitude towards his country and everything else by the end. Really loved the parallel with Isaiah being imprisoned for saving his fellow soldiers while Steve was heralded as a hero for doing the same.
I thought the boat stuff was fun! Had a really different vibe from everything else in the series, like it was taken out of a family drama show but I enjoyed it.
Bucky confirming that Steve had a talk with him before leaving to be with Peggy was a neat thing to include, and I liked that Bucky straight up says they didn't think about the implications of having a black man become Captain America. I'm surprised they actually said it so bluntly.
To my surprise, they introduced Valentina Allegra, also known as Madame Hydra from the comics, so it seems like Hydra will be making a return to the MCU and hiring Walker in the process! I wonder if this means they'll be pseudo adapting the Hydra Captain arc from the comics!
It looks like Sam will finally officially be carrying the mantle of Captain America in the next episode! Can't wait to see what his suit looks like! And Torres now has the wings, even if they're broken, so it seems like he might be the new Falcon in the future.
And with that mid-credits scene it looks like Walker will be becoming the US Agent. I wonder how his bootleg shield is gonna hold up in battle. I assume by the end, Madame Hydra will be giving him his comic shield.
We got a fun montage of two buddies fixing up a boat, we got a heavy talk about race erasure and the American way, we got an awesome training montage and we got a lot of brooding John Walker!
That opening fight scene was very cool. I liked how it opened on the turmoil of Walker killing the Flag Smasher, with him coming to terms that he's Captain America and that means he's doing what's right for himself and the American people (despite how twisted and wrong that belief is).
Man, him using the shield again in that fight as a weapon is super unnerving. Stop trying to cave people's skulls in with it! Stop!!
The whole Sam returning home and calling in favours from the community was great. Love seeing the down-to-earth normal life these guys have. (And especially for Falcon&WS who we barely got any of before this show)
The whole Bucky confronting Zemo scene was great. A fitting way to make amends with him. Make him think you'll be there to kill him, actually try to with the gun, but it's not loaded, because that's not who he is anymore.
Hearing the whole story of Isaiah's is heartbreaking. I like how this show really isn't trying to skirt the line of having a black man as the protagonist, dedicating long scenes of dialogue to go through this extremely charged issue. For what the US did to him compared to Steve, his view of the whole Cap mantle is really understandable.
We got a little scene of Sharon calling in some malicious favours in this episode for the Flag Smahers. She's definitely the Power Broker.
The whole training montage with Sam training to mix his acrobatics with the shield was super cool. Love the use of the main theme. I had a huge grin on my face during all that. (I wonder if each series might incorporate its main theme into it somehow. For WV, it was everywhere, but F&WS and Loki don't have that luxury.)
I like the irony in Sam's nickname "Uncle Sam". It's a small detail, but it's cool. Thanks writers.

Interesting... I read an article about Walker's comic origins a few weeks ago -- how he eventually becomes captured and brainwashed by the US Government to be their tool (and I thought his "You built me, I did everything you told me to." scene this week was foreshadowing that, but it seems like he'll be joining Hydra in the future. Cool twist.

On another note, I wonder why they gave Shang-Chi a subtitle to the film. Nearly every other Marvel film is just [Superhero Name] as their debut solo film, but with him they added "And the Legend of the Ten Rings".
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is officially over! I really enjoyed the finale, it had a lot of action, some revelations, and even had me tear up at one point. It's not the tightest bow in the world but I'm pretty satisfied with how it ended.
Sam's new suit came straight out of the comics and it looks pretty damn slick.
I was not expecting to see a guy get horribly acid burned to death in surprisingly graphic detail.
Confirmation that Sharon Carter is the Powerbroker, this'll be interesting to see going forward especially since she was pardoned at the end.
RIP Karli. Erin Kellyman gave a stellar performance as Karli, though I do wish her story was a little more tightly written.
Also RIP Batroc. We'll never get to see you leap.

Not gonna lie, I welled up a bit when that bystander called him Captain America. It was super cheesy but I loved it!
Really enjoyed Sam's speech to the senate. It's very blunt commentary on the current state of the world, though I do find his downplaying of Karli as a terrorist a bit weird considering she blew up a building killing a number of military personnel. But to be fair, he doesn't forgive her, he just understands where she's coming from.
Really enjoyed Walkers redemption and taking on the title of US. Agent. I wonder if this means they're hinting towards a Dark Avengers or Thunderbolts thing with Madame Hydra as the Nick Fury.
Loved the scene with Sam showing Isayah his section of the museum. It was very reminiscent of Vincent and the Doctor from Doctor Who.
Bucky finally told Nakajima that he killed his son, and it seems like he was forgiven.
Finally, loved the title switch to "Captain America and The Winter Soldier" at the end. I guess we know what a second season would be called if there is one.
Overall I thought the series was great. I love the fact that the show actually full on tackled the subject of racism, and not just lightly brush it like I feared it would, and the different thoughts and perspectives people had on the shield and I loved getting to know more about Sam and Bucky as they grow to become friends. I also really enjoyed how dark and violent the show got at times. John Walker and Isayah Bradley are a fantastically well acted and written characters, in very different ways, and I hope to see more of them in the future. Please for the love of God give me a miniseries based on Truth: Red, White and Black. I really want to see more of Isayah back in the day and really get to see everything that happened.
Next up is Loki which will be releasing in June. Looking to see how weird that show gets!

Everyone knows the Twilight Time song from the trailers and the show, or Daydream Believer, but have you heard Help Me, Rhonda?
This is a 1965 Beach Boys song, and it appears in Episode 2.
The song can be heard on the radio briefly during the Pool Meeting scene. It plays over the static just before the radio blows up.
As you can probably guess, the title can be misinterpreted to "Help Me, Wanda", and that's probably intentional with the amount of distortion on the radio. Kinda creepy, but neat detail.
Welp, got the Falcon&Winter Soldier finale under my belt.
Pretty darn good way to end the show. Some aspects were underwhelming but the big hype moments were so good.
Falcon's Captain America's new suit is so clean! It's a lot more patriotic and (design-wise) similar to the OG suit than I was expecting, but that's okay. (I was expecting some more angular/geometric patterns like other Wakanda products we've seen.)
Walker ended up doing more good in this episode than I was expecting too. I thought he was gonna have a tussle with Sam about the shield again, but nah he's just there for revenge (which he luckily doesn't get).
So Karli's dead (and Batroc). It's too bad they turned her into a no-holding-back anarchist halfway through the show, as I liked her original trajectory early on in the series, but at least there's a compromise in her arc with the GRC not relocating the refugees at the end.
Speaking of that, daaaamn man, Cap is breaking out the speeches! Great way to empathise with the antagonist's morals and reach a conclusion that still seems "good".
And I like the justification for Sam wearing the Captain America suit. He's gonna get hate, he knows the implications of wearing the flag across his body, but damn it he's trying something different and we've all got to roll with it. (And the fact that the US was built off of slavery, so the ones who really deserve to represent America is someone black.)
Walker seems like a character in this weird grey area now. It's nice that he's happy to serve, but he's working for Hydra, and he's not the most emotionally stable guy. Dunno what to feel about that.
Also wow this finale is loaded. Hydra is gonna make a comeback and the power broker is gonna sell a bunch of secrets. Oof.
Honestly, I was hoping for more between Bucky and Nakajima. That scene felt a too short. I wanted to really see him make amends to really help somehow.
Sam showing Isaiah the museum section about him was so darn heartwarming. Like... shit. Your whole life gets erased by the government, you're proclaimed dead, you live in hiding, no one knows the truth... And now your story is up in a museum. That's such a good turn of events. Screw the govt regardless, but damn that's a good ending.
Solid show, I feel some of the writing needed another pass-over and the rumors about the cancelled virus plotline are a bit intriguing (and might have been better -- the whole stuff with Mama Donya quickly became irrelevant along with the Vaccines at the start of the show.) apart from that the show was some good Marvel stuff. They pumped up the brutality in some aspects and that was nice. I also Loved how they digged deep into some racial issues.
Bring on the Loki. I loved all the mystery and surreal stuff in WandaVision. Can't wait for more of that.
(And not long after that there's the What If show! That might only have 10-minute episodes -- and might still be weekly -- but should be fun.)

Way better than last week. Wasn't sure I would enjoy this show last week to be honest, because I thought the first episode was kinda meh mostly (except for some bits). But this week was really strong throughout. Very excited for next week
Liked this episode a lot more than last week, ball is actually rolling now. Overall though I still would say Im not as into as I was Wandavision, but I still enjoy it. After this episode I would say that I am a lot more "into it" though because now like I said, actually feels like a plot is forming unlike last week.
I'm liking how the show is moving along. The pace is speeding up, and I'm excited for next week.
I'm into Walker and Hoskins' friendly relationship. I'm not into Walker's taking up of the shield, no sir. He does not deserve it.
(Also, the costume is pretty cool, but the helmet it weird. When he's normal "John Walker", he's a pretty decent-looking guy, but when he's wearing the helmet he looks so goofy! I guess it's something about the shape.)
I'm a bit iffy on Sam and Bucky's whole uncertain-buddy dynamic. (The writing seems focused way more on silly banter and one-liners between the two), but it might grow on me. I liked Bucky's line "I read the Hobbit in 1937, when it first came out!" and the therapy session between the two at the end.
Yeah, I'm a bit surprised how heavy the MCU is leaning into racial issues like this. The Bank scene and government turncoat in the last episode and this episode's stuff with Isaiah is uncomfortable as all hell (and that's the point), but it's cool to finally see the Film side of the MCU go into issues it's mostly overlooked so far.

It's only 6 episodes. If you're so turned off by it, wait 2 weeks, then come back and maybe the plot will get to a spot you're comfortable with. There's a lot of jumping around so far, but I think it'll smooth out soon.
I do feel some of the Sam and Bucky banter could use some work as it is a bit odd. Some works some don't.
For Walker I think they purposely made it so he looks a bit odd with the helmet because he is suppose to sort of feel like a knock off. Also I've seen a weird amount of people thinking Walker will become super generic bad guy but I don't think they'll go that route. His comic origins are a lot deeper than "Bad Captain America." He is basically suppose to be some guy who isn't a bad person, but his value's are not the same Steve Rogers and are by far much more violent and uncaring of long term consequences, just getting the job done. Already he has been given a lot more depth with how they are presenting him, so I think by the end of the series Sam becomes the real New Captain America and Walker becomes US Agent. Then again, it is always possible they do something lame with him like they did Hayward where he starts out seemingly like he can become a really complex character but then they just went "Eh idk hes just ultra bad and shit cuz he is."

After looking it up, turns out that the episode was written by Derek Kolstad who wrote all the John Wick movies, which explains certain things.
I love that Zemo tries to re-activate Bucky with the Hydra code. I was thinking to myself just before they scene that it would be great if that happened, and lo and behold!
Zemo has officially become the Baron and we get to see his Sokovian death squad skills in action! I wonder how long this partnership with Zemo is going to last.
While it was a little jarring at first, I like the direction they took with Sharon with her feeling like she's been wronged by the Avengers after everything she did for them. I have a feeling she might be the Powerbroker.
The Madripoor scenes felt like something out of John Wick. Especially the part with the bounties being placed on the gang. Not to mention the scenes in the shipping yard with Sharon kicking ass.
I recognised those metal orbs at the end the instance I saw them! Cool to see the return of Ayo.
This was a pretty good episode. I'd say it's the weakest of the bunch so far, as the plot felt kinda shaky and rough, but it was nice.
I like the return of Zemo and there was some pretty brutal action here. Maybe I'm just used to the mostly-combat-averse WandaVision, but some of that choreography had me wincing in metaphorical pain. The dialogue between Sam and Bucky felt a bit better this time, and I loved the comedy in sneaking into Madripoor.
(And yeah, I agree with Lupin that this episode was very John Wick-ish. I'll get into that in the spoiler tag)
Also ooooh Wakanda is getting into the mix of this show. Cool.
Gotta say I wish this series was a bit more interesting. I forgot the episode even came out this week. Now half way through it feels just kind of clunky. Not bad, not great, but I don't really want to say its good either. Really just decent entertainment. Kinda getting vibes this is going to end up on the low-tier end of Marvel stuff where after its done its pretty forgettable.
Honestly kind of crazy this was going to be the first show. I feel WandaVision was probably the best way to introduce MCU TV seeing how that show is literally about TV. This, not so much.
Still looking forward to see what happens next, but half way through and I feel like its missing a real hook. (Wish they were focusing more on the New Cap and Battlestar vs Sam and Bucky as I felt their rivalry in ep 2 was the more interesting part of the show. Looks like Ep 4 will probably give us more of that and I hope they do as I feel their rivially is a much better foil than the Flagsmashers they dont really interact with, with their leader who entered the generic baddie zone.)

Now this looks like it'll be a return to fun, very interesting plots for Marvel TV.
So far, the Falcon and Winter Soldier has felt more like the usual Marvel action film split into 6 parts.
It doesn't take advantage of the TV format as well as it could.
Granted, we're only halfway through, but with only 3 episodes left, I don't see much of that happening.
Loki looks like another weird, interesting look into the Marvel-verse.

Episode 4 of TFATWS is fuckin' amazing holy shit, I absolutely loved that! This might actually be my favourite episode of the series thus far. Next week can't come soon enough.

The Dora Milaje are so fuckin' cool. Loved the scene with them taking down Walker.
Loved the one on one between Sam and Karli with the Flagsmashers being expanded upon and Sam pointing out her hypocrisy.
Got more details on what Flagsmashers are fighting for with the "one country, no borders" and how the Blip caused the world to work together.
Little bit of interesting commentary with Walker talking about his tour in Afghanistan. Really surprised to hear something like that out of a Disney property.
I do wish we got to see Walker take the serum though, and see the kind of effect it had on him in the moment.
If anyone was wondering what would have happened if Steve had done what he did to Tony towards the end of Civil War but on a normal person you get your answer with this and it is pretty violent, goddamn. That might have been the most brutal death in the MCU so far, and to the guy who looked up to Cap as a kid too.
Walker goes off the deep end, though in a way that I can empathise with honestly. I can't even blame him for doing what he did. The way he went about doing what he did however, was a little too far, especially in front of all those people.
RIP Battlestar. Went out in a really surprisingly grounded way too. Thrown against a pillar and breaking his neck.
Pretty good episode as a whole but I feel a lot of the praise this episode is def because the ending is easily the best thing to happen in the show so far and is an actually "oh shit" moment that leaves me wanting to know what's next instead of just "guess that's it till next week."
After seeing the ending, it just continues to make me wish this show was about Sam and Bucky dealing with New Cap. It is honestly too crowded. Sharon I feel has kind of obviously been set up as the real Power Broker so thats gonna need to be fit in and most likely be ep 5's cliffhanger, and even if she isn't, that means just regular Power Broker still needs to pop up, Zemo escapes, and the Flagsmashers are honestly very, very boring and take up too much time. I get why they are there, but the script I feel involving them is so damn awkward that they really should just have been a generic terrorist group that Sam and Bucky are going after while Cap and Battlestar are as well, which focuses on what the real drama should be between and the meaning of the shield and mantle. I mean these fellas are saying how they must kill Captain America to prove their point, but UH OH! We killed Battlestar, time to stop fighting Captain America who we want to kill and run away!!! I just honestly find a lot of the plots progression and drama really, really artificial so I wish they took a different direction as a lot of the plot and theme feels so jumbled up. Hopefully going forward these last 2 episodes are more like this episode's ending.
This was definitely the best episode yet, action/tension-wise.
More Zemo shenanigans in this episode. Both with fun one-liners, crazy philosophies, creepy nursery rhymes and silly trust (why would you guys leave this man alone!! He's obviously gonna try and escape!)
Like seriously, wtf was up with that Nursery Rhyme scene? Creepy as hell, and no way would I trust or take candy from this guy. It was probably played that way for that exact reason, but... Damn it, Zemo!
How did Karli get Sarah's (Sam's sister's) number? I don't know what connections she has, but that seemed to come out of nowhere.
Fun fact: In case you forgot, the Flag Smasher Walker kills at the end was the one who said he used to be a major Cap fan as a kid. What a dark way to go...
So it seems like Walker might turn out to be the Big Bad of this series? I think the main threat will be to deal with Karli, then Walker is gonna come along and get all macho about something, making Sam and Bucky have to go after him, too. (Kinda feels like another Agent Hayward situation coming along, but I hope not.)
The writer for John Wick was also the main writer for this episode. Glad to see it was an improvement from the last one. (And not like JW at all.)
He's also a co-executive producer. I wonder if his presence and push helped make this series just a touch darker and more brutal in the fights.

Really enjoyed episode 5! By far the most "mellow" episode of the series so far Very little action, but a lot more drama, a couple of really emotional scenes, and some neat social commentary that is a lot more text than it is subtext! Also watch out, there's a mid-credits scene this week!
The fight at the start was great. Cringed really hard when Bucky broke Walkers arm.
I felt really bad for Walker during his trial. What he did, especially in public, was totally out of line but I completely understand why he did what he did.
Loved that they brought back Isaiah and had him tell his whole story. He and Sam's one-on-one in general was really powerful stuff and you completely understand his attitude towards his country and everything else by the end. Really loved the parallel with Isaiah being imprisoned for saving his fellow soldiers while Steve was heralded as a hero for doing the same.
I thought the boat stuff was fun! Had a really different vibe from everything else in the series, like it was taken out of a family drama show but I enjoyed it.
Bucky confirming that Steve had a talk with him before leaving to be with Peggy was a neat thing to include, and I liked that Bucky straight up says they didn't think about the implications of having a black man become Captain America. I'm surprised they actually said it so bluntly.
To my surprise, they introduced Valentina Allegra, also known as Madame Hydra from the comics, so it seems like Hydra will be making a return to the MCU and hiring Walker in the process! I wonder if this means they'll be pseudo adapting the Hydra Captain arc from the comics!
It looks like Sam will finally officially be carrying the mantle of Captain America in the next episode! Can't wait to see what his suit looks like! And Torres now has the wings, even if they're broken, so it seems like he might be the new Falcon in the future.
And with that mid-credits scene it looks like Walker will be becoming the US Agent. I wonder how his bootleg shield is gonna hold up in battle. I assume by the end, Madame Hydra will be giving him his comic shield.

That opening fight scene was very cool. I liked how it opened on the turmoil of Walker killing the Flag Smasher, with him coming to terms that he's Captain America and that means he's doing what's right for himself and the American people (despite how twisted and wrong that belief is).
Man, him using the shield again in that fight as a weapon is super unnerving. Stop trying to cave people's skulls in with it! Stop!!
The whole Sam returning home and calling in favours from the community was great. Love seeing the down-to-earth normal life these guys have. (And especially for Falcon&WS who we barely got any of before this show)

Interesting... I read an article about Walker's comic origins a few weeks ago -- how he eventually becomes captured and brainwashed by the US Government to be their tool (and I thought his "You built me, I did everything you told me to." scene this week was foreshadowing that, but it seems like he'll be joining Hydra in the future. Cool twist.
Lol I was kinda saying "oh nooo" when seeing that, but after a minute of thinking I started chuckling. I don't know how well a makeshift shield built in your garage (with a box of scraps!) is gonna hold up to the real-deal, vibranium frizbee.
It happens during the scene with Sam and Bucky practicing with the shield, when they're talking about the implications of a black man becoming Captain America, Bucky says that Steve had told him about his plan to pass the shield to Sam.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is officially over! I really enjoyed the finale, it had a lot of action, some revelations, and even had me tear up at one point. It's not the tightest bow in the world but I'm pretty satisfied with how it ended.
Sam's new suit came straight out of the comics and it looks pretty damn slick.
I was not expecting to see a guy get horribly acid burned to death in surprisingly graphic detail.
Confirmation that Sharon Carter is the Powerbroker, this'll be interesting to see going forward especially since she was pardoned at the end.
RIP Karli. Erin Kellyman gave a stellar performance as Karli, though I do wish her story was a little more tightly written.
Also RIP Batroc. We'll never get to see you leap.

Not gonna lie, I welled up a bit when that bystander called him Captain America. It was super cheesy but I loved it!
Really enjoyed Sam's speech to the senate. It's very blunt commentary on the current state of the world, though I do find his downplaying of Karli as a terrorist a bit weird considering she blew up a building killing a number of military personnel. But to be fair, he doesn't forgive her, he just understands where she's coming from.
Really enjoyed Walkers redemption and taking on the title of US. Agent. I wonder if this means they're hinting towards a Dark Avengers or Thunderbolts thing with Madame Hydra as the Nick Fury.
Loved the scene with Sam showing Isayah his section of the museum. It was very reminiscent of Vincent and the Doctor from Doctor Who.
Bucky finally told Nakajima that he killed his son, and it seems like he was forgiven.
Finally, loved the title switch to "Captain America and The Winter Soldier" at the end. I guess we know what a second season would be called if there is one.
Overall I thought the series was great. I love the fact that the show actually full on tackled the subject of racism, and not just lightly brush it like I feared it would, and the different thoughts and perspectives people had on the shield and I loved getting to know more about Sam and Bucky as they grow to become friends. I also really enjoyed how dark and violent the show got at times. John Walker and Isayah Bradley are a fantastically well acted and written characters, in very different ways, and I hope to see more of them in the future. Please for the love of God give me a miniseries based on Truth: Red, White and Black. I really want to see more of Isayah back in the day and really get to see everything that happened.
Next up is Loki which will be releasing in June. Looking to see how weird that show gets!

Everyone knows the Twilight Time song from the trailers and the show, or Daydream Believer, but have you heard Help Me, Rhonda?
This is a 1965 Beach Boys song, and it appears in Episode 2.
The song can be heard on the radio briefly during the Pool Meeting scene. It plays over the static just before the radio blows up.
As you can probably guess, the title can be misinterpreted to "Help Me, Wanda", and that's probably intentional with the amount of distortion on the radio. Kinda creepy, but neat detail.

Pretty darn good way to end the show. Some aspects were underwhelming but the big hype moments were so good.
Speaking of that, daaaamn man, Cap is breaking out the speeches! Great way to empathise with the antagonist's morals and reach a conclusion that still seems "good".
And I like the justification for Sam wearing the Captain America suit. He's gonna get hate, he knows the implications of wearing the flag across his body, but damn it he's trying something different and we've all got to roll with it. (And the fact that the US was built off of slavery, so the ones who really deserve to represent America is someone black.)
Walker seems like a character in this weird grey area now. It's nice that he's happy to serve, but he's working for Hydra, and he's not the most emotionally stable guy. Dunno what to feel about that.
