These new forums are nigh unusable on my phone. And I come here from my phone a lot. The only way I was able to login was to try to comment on a thread, which pulled up the login dialogue box. The login button at the top right is either unreachable or broken, as from the main page it doesn't work, and from the forums I can't zoom out to see the whole screen and therefore can't click on it.
@Tope: Eh... The people are nice, but what we here use as a "general" forums are over there split between Double Fine-specific General Discussion and Off-topic.
Also, there doesn't seem to be as much deep, meandering discussion in the form of thread derailment.
And the one Steam/GOG/HIB sale thread over there isn't run by Marsden, so it isn't as cool or informative.
From the little I've used of it, it seems friendly but not nearly as cool without you guys there.
Also coolsome and fawful. It desperately needs coolsome and fawful's randomness.
... Oh yeah, and there is no bold or italics, and I'm not sure that you can post pictures or active hyperlinks.
I keep editing to add stuff to this post. So, yeah, here at the TTG General Forums and the WOYM we talk about all manner of things, from sports to current events to bacon to boobs to daily updates on Steam sales. Here, it feels like a community. There, it feels like the support forums for a game developer with an off-topic section for minor randomness.
@Chyron8472: Haha. I'm actually the one running the Steam/GOG/HIB thread over on the Double Fine forums. Granted it's pretty bare bones compared to the threads here, but I just don't have enough time on my hands to make it more informative.
As for how the forums are. They are run on the Expression Engine, which is a pretty bad forum solution that doesn't have elementary stuff like going to the first unread post or multi quoting or opening links in a new tab. I'd still say it's a lot better than what I've seen of the new TTG forums though. I'm also working on a Greasemonkey script that adds a lot of vBulletin features. It works for me, but I haven't added automatic syncing between browsers yet.
