I want a non-threaded version of the forums

edited September 2013 in General Chat

I want the option to to view forum posts in a non-threaded fashion (ie. chronologically). I also want BBCode support.
.
Thumbs up if you agree.
.
Also, reply and add whatever else you wish this... erm... "community" had. Like proper working mod tools and such.

  • I also want the ability to edit my own fricken OP post.

I agree with big fricking bells on.

I also want a longer period within which I can edit my posts. I frequently make mistakes or omit things and not being able to do this later makes me angsty.

I also wish for the temporary ability to kill threads with fire when rampant homophobia rears its head http://www.telltalegames.com/community/discussion/50565/would-you-like-a-wider-range-of-sexual-identities-in-the-walking-dead

    I can dream can't I? ;)

  • I also hope there will be a non-threaded version.

I am extremely disappointed with this new forum... er, community comment board. :-(

  • I strongly wish for linear discussion only as well, but it's a wish that comes with a lot of baggage.

The forum is either threaded or linear. There can be no user choice here, no "option", no "version", no different "view".

In linear 'view', all formerly threaded discussion would appear nonsensical as the reference to other posts would be lost. Likewise, what makes linear discussion readable - quotes with the name of the quoted person, even a link to the original message - would have to be implemented. A quote button. A multiquote button. As of yet, the still linear threads imported from the old forum lack such a function, what sooner or later will make them just as confusing as the threaded discussion has been from the beginning.

Threaded and linear discussions are completely different ways of communication. There has to be a decision for one and only one to prevail.

I know I have a VERY clear preference.

  • I prefer anachronic discussions. Posts reference both past and future posts, some posts are told in flashbacks, which may or may not be flash forwards, and they are all ordered by relevance and flow of story. Sometimes there are cutaway gags as well.

And countless instances of the non sequitur.

Don't forget the big lipped aligator moments.

Now that we have seen threaded and know that it does not work well, I think it is time to go with what works for this forum: linear.
