I don't think anyone wants Clem to get rapped and murdered, but this game is supposed to be kind of realistic and dark, so it's possible that someone tries to rape her... I'm not saying I want that, obviously I don't want her to get raped, but you know at least someone will try to kill her... I mean you can't get five episodios without that :P
I agree that kind of overprotective attitude is ridiculous (even a little creepy). That being said, it's also easy for people to swing to the … moreother extreme by insisting Clementine should be raped and murdered twenty minutes into the first episode simply because it's "realistic". Turning the game into a piece of non-stop misery porn is just as excessive as having Clem ride away from the zombie hordes on a unicorn.
People shouldn't get to attached to anything, especially videogame charatchers... i mean it's fun to play and I love the charatchers because they really look like real peoplo with personalitys and psychological personal traits, but people need to relax with the overexagerating on something... I like Clem, and Lee and many otehrs charatchers but I'm not obsessed with them...
I have an idea for an extremely dark scenario that would work far better with Clementine as the protagonist than with Lee.
Torture. What if Clementine gets tortured? Players care about her well-being so much, that I think a torture scene involving Clementine might be the closest you can get to actually simulating torture on the player.
Imagine this: someone captures Clementine and is trying to extract some piece of information from her (perhaps the location of another survivor that the torturer wants to kill.) What follows is an extended scene of Clementine undergoing excruciating pain, crying and screaming her lungs out. Now here's the kicker: at any time during the sequence, you can press a button to reveal the piece of information and end the sequence. This essentially dooms the other survivor but spares Clementine from having to enduring any more pain. I'd be curious to know what players would do in this scenario.
Sounds like a real corker of a scene, and would definitely push the player's endurance past the breaking point. Of course, Clem's torturer would have to be an unimaginable monster if the sequence were to be at all convincing. (I cast my vote for Nate. He has the right kind of insanity that can make such a scene light-hearted and absolutely terrifying at the same time.)

I agree, that sounds interesting. Although here comes the point of "being Clementine" in season 2. I am Clementine in that scenario. So I'm not letting her suffer. I am suffering myself. If I'm strong enough to stand the pain, she is. I am not letting "her" suffer more than "she" can handle.
Take this scenario back to first season. Torturing Clem with Lee watching to get information out of Lee... Sounds way harder to me. I wouldn't know how long she could stand it, if at all. So my motivation to end it would be much higher.

Something made me roll my eyes...
Episode 3 was by far the most shocking in the death department, but one other big event happened: Clementine’s precious hair got chopped. Vanaman knew it was a big move and was doubtful if people would get behind it
Facepalm.
I hope it's just a joke...
If Telltale actually pondered about something as insignificant as touching Clementine's haircut (this is like the biggest non-issue ever) just because part of the Clem's fan base are so obsessed with this character that they might not like it...
No wonder some of us are concerned the game could somewhat become hostage of Clementine and the most vocal/radical fringe of her fan base.

If the writers are terrified to touch her hair then this game will most likely take a step back as far as pushing the limits.. The writers were terrified of cutting Clem's hair for the same reason they'd be terrified of shaving Lee's beard. It's not that it harms the character in any way but it's always a risk to change up a character's appearance from something that fans are familiar with. The fact that they never intended for her hair to be cut makes it even trickier.
Also, I'm not on board with the idea that darker = better. That kind of "pushing the limit" mentally gets old after a while. I'd prefer it if the writers just focused on writing good scenarios, be they light-hearted or grim. They shouldn't shy away from the darker scenarios if they have a good place to take it but being dark just for the sake of being dark gets pretty lame pretty quickly.

I'm not completely sure that cutting a characters or beard would upset 90% of fans. I think you will run in to issues with that 10% of what I like to call extreme character fans (AKA fanboys or fangirls).
I think my confusion comes from that TTG has already created this little slice of virtual TWD. We were blessed with playing as a very incredible flawed hero. That character allowed us to be a leader, literally become a zombie killing melee machine, he was the person that everyone respected and looked up to. That's a playable character that I enjoyed.
Playing as clementine is fine but only for a episode or so. I think the switch to clementine for the PC happened too early. It would have been much better in season 3 or later when she was older. Folks make the argument that she saved our flawed hero and she can shoot a gun. My problem is with all that she just showed up randomly during those situations. It's not like you saw clementine leading the way with a sword mowing down walkers like a lawn mower over grass. It's not like you would see clementine walking up to big Kenny to knock his block off to bring Kenny back to reality. Yes I know playing as clementine does open come door up that a adult PC would not have but I believe that playing as a child limits more then it opens up.
Maybe it's just me but I like playing a PC that is a leader. Someone that no one wants to mess with.
On the flip side I do trust TTG. They do have a solid past of not messing games up. Who knows maybe clementine's biological father might have been some special forces / CIA guru and clementine is more of a badass then appeared in season 1.
Let's hope that first episode comes out soon so we can see.

Clementine just turned 9 in episode 5. They said "many months" not years. She is probably 9 and a half at the most. Stop worrying about Clem. She'll be fine. She is the most loved character next to Lee.
Honestly that image should have been released to the fans back in August..... I know it was a SDCC perk but TTG really gave the TWD fans zilch when they were prepping TWAU. Please don't throw 400 days down. Personally I would have rather seen season 2 released a month earlier then the 400 days DLC.
Not a legend. I attended the SDCC panel back in July. The panel ended before Dave Fennoy got up himself and jokingly asked if there was anythi… moreng to "keep the fans going" until season 2. This prompted a teaser image to be shown of two hooded figures sitting in the rain with Clem's theme playing in the background for 5 seconds, before The Walking Dead: Season Two showed up as a logo. The panel immediately ended thereafter.
I didn't flame, it's just sad the game story can be messy because clem fanboy/girl want her to never get hurt. Its the apocalypse, shes going to get hurt sometime maybe even killed if the story is realistic.
No one wants her to get raped!!! I think your confused. What was put out there is that there should be no limits in the TTG TWD universe. Just like there are no limits in the comics. Someone threw out there the attempted rape in TLAU and that TTG should not be afraid to push the limit even know the PC is a child.

Well, to be fair, if they were to bring Kenny back only to reveal that he'd shaven his moustache, the character would be dead to me. Kenny IS his moustache, damn it.

Someone posted somewhere that they did not want TTG to create the death scenes like they did last season when Lee was killed during the gameplay since clementine is the new PC..........
IMO that type of holding back would drastically limit this game. If you make a mistake playing as clementine and a walker bites you I want to see the same death as you would in season 1. Honestly it should have more blood and screaming...
The tv show is a good example every time you see Scott Gimble on the tv all you here is season 4 will have more zombies, more death, more, more, more.....

Dome I like it...... That is the type of thinking that would make this game another game of the year.....
Torture.. Maybe something like pulling finger nails with a walker tied up on a chain close by. These are the type of situations that have to be in the game somewhere.

Sir your missing the point of our worries. Clem can not be fine. The PC has to be able to die at any time. The second you begin the tone down the gameplay because "She is the most loved character next to Lee." Is the second this game is doomed.

It's not the non-canon deaths that concern me so much. Those should be disturbing, simply because they HAVE to be. It's the "set-in-stone" kind of death, like Katjaa's suicide, I'm worried about. I don't want to see Telltale spontaneously murder Clementine halfway through an episode purely for the sake of horrifying the player.

Well you can't murder the PC half way through the game. You can however have the PC get bit and need a arm or leg amputated.
The end of the game though is going to be hard. If you want it to get the same effect as seasons 1 it has to be more emotional them how Lee ended. If the game falls flat at the end the review sites will say season 1 was better and then season 2 became soft.
Clementine just turned 9 in episode 5. They said "many months" not years. She is probably 9 and a half at the most. Stop worrying about Clem. She'll be fine. She is the most loved character next to Lee.
Hopefully the writers get season 2 just right and we get a bunch of highs and lows. My biggest concern was they would hold back because the PC is a child. Clementine has a big fan base that let's just say take is very personal when she is hurt.
I know I'm repeating myself. But all that would work better, if we weren't Clem ourselves. Lee's death wasn't the horrible part of the ending of the first season. The PC dying wasn't the hard part. Leaving Clementine alone was the hard part. And having Clementine shoot or leave her last protector was the hard part.
I think Clem dying or whatever would be much harder, if she wasn't the PC.
Pal your preaching to the congregation. I think making clementine the PC was a big mistake. It limits all the melee attacks, being respected leader, and all the adult swearing and jokes that made the season 1 great.
I'm so excited to see if TTG can pull off season 2 without waking a step backwards.
Well, my sceptiscism regarding Clem as PC is quite different.
1) limits melee attacks? - don't need melee attacks to have a frightening experience in a zombie apocalypse
2) being respected leader? - why not see the zombie apocalypse from a different angle? different kind of challenge to still have an impact in the group. Roleplay the role of a minor in the group who still finds ways to make herself heard.
3) adult swearing and jokes? - will be in there I think
My worries are:
1) In a way Clem doesn't have the same personality as she did, because it gets overwritten with mine. I am making her decisions.
2) her emotional impact by "just being Clem" is lowered, because i am identifying with her, so it's me who would be suffering not the little girl in my group.
For example:
In The Last of Us you are protecting Ellie (14 years old). For the most part you feel protective of her (not in the same way as with Clem, but still). In the part where you are controlling Ellie herself that part of feeling protective ist gone. I am dealing with the fuckers who wanna kill me out of self-interest (me being Ellie). I am not protecting somebody, I am surviving. That feels quite different. At least for me. An my worry is that it will be similar with controlling Clem.

I agree with you on this one. The death scenes need to be as dark and grim as last season. Last year they where kinda funny at times. This season players have incentive to avoid them like the plague (who wants to see Clem torn to bits).

That child looks 10 years old at the oldest.
Hell ING has her at 8 or 9. http://www.ign.com/wikis/t… morehe-walking-dead-game/Clementine
There is no way that child is a teenager unless there has been a leap of years between season 1 and 2......

You don't need a calculator to figure how old she is.
The story arc is supposed to pick up right after season 1 ends. How are … moreyou getting that age of early 11.
She just turned like 9 according to ten creepy guy at the end of ep 5 I think.
Depends on what you mean by "work better." More people would give into the torture, sure, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's a better scenario. In the case where Clementine is being tortured in front of Lee, you have almost no incentive NOT to immediately give in to the torture. You're choosing between the well-being of a child that you care for and are charged with protecting and the well-being of some other individual. Giving into the torture just seems to be the better thing to do and the thing that Lee would probably do.
It gets a little muddier when you're playing as Clementine and you're the one getting tortured. You'd still be extremely uncomfortable with seeing her in pain, but both you and Clementine also want her to be brave in the face of danger, especially when its for the sake of others. Giving into the torture here means that you, as Clementine, are choosing your own well-being over that of someone else, and while that's more than understandable in this case, it is still ultimately a selfish and cowardly action to doom another for you own sake. Because you know that she'll want to be able to endure her suffering, you'll want to be able to endure watching her suffer. There's more tension here between revealing the information and enduring the pain and that's what makes this scenario so much more compelling to me than the one where Lee is the protagonist.
Is there an official source for this? It would be interesting, but I doubt Kirkman would give Telltale an OK to jump forward that much in his storyline.
@KCohere wrote: It will most likely be darker because as a child, she'll probably have a harder time of things not to mention slowly losing anything of her childhood.
I agree. In Season 1, everyone was always protecting Clementine. She was always loved, prized and cherished. In Season 2, what she will most likely face is constant rejection. She will meet people who just can't risk shouldering the burden they think Clem is.

No offence, but I think that's an awful idea. Part of Clementine's appeal is the fact she's like any average young girl, suddenly thrust into appalling circumstances. If S2 were to turn around and say "SURPRISE! Clementine's Dad was actually a hardcore CIA operative who taught her how to use a .45 before she even turned six!" just to satisfy the player's personal need for combat and carnage, would be a disaster of epic proportions.

I just think that if TTG limits the game because the PC is a child then that is a step backwards for the game.
Playing as a adult PC anything was possible.
@Robert
No one wants her to get raped!!! I think your confused. What was put out there is that there should be no limits in the TTG TWD universe. Just like there are no limits in the comics. Someone threw out there the attempted rape in TLAU and that TTG should not be afraid to push the limit even know the PC is a child.
@Robert
Yea that thread was umm... Yea I see your point. In here though no one said they wanted her raped.
Well, to be fair, if they were to bring Kenny back only to reveal that he'd shaven his moustache, the character would be dead to me. Kenny IS his moustache, damn it.
@DLGR13
The game can not take a step..

I don't want to see Telltale spontaneously murder Clementine halfway through an episode purely for the sake of horrifying the player.
i like how you think , tortured would work well playing as clem
Well you can't murder the PC half way through the game. You can however have the PC get bit and need a arm or leg amputated.
The end of the game though is going to be hard. If you want it to get the same effect as seasons 1 it has to be more emotional them how Lee ended. If the game falls flat at the end the review sites will say season 1 was better and then season 2 became soft.
Clem can dead, it's nothing wrong with a clem getting killed if it's a well made story
It would work better, if we weren't being Clem ourselves.
Hopefully the writers get season 2 just right and we get a bunch of highs and lows. My biggest concern was they would hold back because the PC is a child. Clementine has a big fan base that let's just say take is very personal when she is hurt.
@mrkareemriz
Where are you living at? Are you in one of the countries that will get the game during the debut rollout?
Telltale Said Her Age Is Around 12 Or 13
But I Am Not Sure Yet
I agree. In Season 1, everyone was always protecting Clementine. She was always loved, prized and cherished. In Season 2, what she will most likely face is constant rejection. She will meet people who just can't risk shouldering the burden they think Clem is.
You have a point there.
Clem is not real, Clem getting hurt can sometimes make for better storys.
I think all we have to go on for now is that it's been "many months" since S1.
