  • You are aware that the announcement wasn't made especially for you, right? You do know that there are other people out there in the world? People who might not know anything about Telltale or TWD, but who would be interested in a new Borderlands/GoT game?

It wasn't like Telltale went up there and said "ATTENTION WALKING DEAD FANS: WE ARE WORKING ON TWO NEW GAMES THAT AREN'T THE WALKING DEAD. SCREW YOU." Whether you want to acknowledge it or not, the purpose of Telltale as a company is not to cater to fans of the Walking Dead. It's to make games.

And you will. In fact, you haven't got much of a choice provided you don't want to wait far more than a year for Borderlands and Game of Thrones to finish their Seasons.

I don't know about you, but yesterday night I lost completely all fate in Telltale Games as my former favorite game developer.

After playing the first Season of TWD for eighty-nine hours and constant complaints in the release date thread for no particular reason, you suddenly 'lose all faith' in Telltale because they dare to announce other franchises than the ones you're interested in. Ok, all right, no problem. We'll skip that part.

A big slap in our faces.

    No one was slapped yesterday.

And still they say nothing about The Walking Dead which is probably the most anticipated game this month.

They're constantly confirming that it will be out this year. I. e. during the next 12 days most likely. You'll probably get a release trailer or something like that next week. We could then make a screenshot of every slide of the trailer so you get as many screenshots as you could possibly desire. What more would you want exactly? A detailed retelling of the first three episodes? Every bit of info on TWD Season 2 right now is either needless teasing or brutal spoiler. The perfect opportunity to take a look into Telltale's future, I'll say.

What makes me annoyed is that they take other things ahead of our favorite games,

As I've reiterated countless times, no they don't. They're planning ahead, which is what solvent video companies happen to do (with the possible exception of Double Fine, but we'll see how far that solvency goes). But, yes, that seems to be what makes YOU annoyed, first person. Stop that majestic plural nonsense please, you don't get to make blanket statements about the entire community.

We're not interested in knowing about games that apparently will be released later in 2014, what is important right now is the game we waited for a whole year. Telltale, get your priorities straight... We're fed up with their poor communication with us, the customers.

YOU are. And judging from the problems the mods presently have to contain the excited discussion of these new franchises in just one place, the community's reaction has an overwhelmingly positive side as well.

I understand clearly that they can't give out any dates until a few days before the release date. But what stops them from keeping us updated, talking to us?

For TWD, they've updated people almost weekly these last two months. Frankly, with such insecure time frames, you have seen the absolute maximum they can do. Or maybe Laura could put a daily auto update on her twitter ("game on track for before Christmas").

makes me extremely worried about how they will manage to release both The Walking Dead, and The Wolf Among Us, along planning Game of Thrones and Borderlands...

They haven't been doing anything BUT planning some games and releasing others at the same time for seven_fucking_years. When they announced The Walking Dead, Fables, King's Quest, Puzzle Agent and Hector in the same 2011 press conference, and announced another game, Law & Order only two months later, I certainly didn't panic because I thought they'd never finish their running series Back to the Future. And there was a bit of a delay in there for sure.

we'd vote on Telltale only focus on The Walking Dead, and The Wolf Among Us until they're DONE.

This is what will likely happen. I doubt you'll see an episode of those new franchises for months after both present series have concluded.

I know we probably and very likely will get The Walking Dead in the upcoming two weeks, but then I'll say "it's about bloody time".

Telltale has explicitly said they intend to release this series in fall 2013. They haven't changed that estimate in MORE THAN A YEAR. What do you mean, "it's about bloody time", what sense of entitlement is that? "Fuck you for keeping your schedule here", or what? The only thing you could argue - and even that is VERY debatable - is whether too strong a focus on The Walking Dead Season 2 has delayed The Wolf among Us' second episode. That at least would be, more or less, a reasonable assumption. Doesn't help your case because you're mostly interested in TWD, of course.

The Walking Dead, and The Wolf Among Us will be the last games I buy from this developer if they don't improve their manners.

I'd applaud your stance had you not completely failed to understand what actually could be wrong with 'their manners'.

Come on guys dont be impatient. Just wait 2 more weeks. I hope TellTale will just confirm 17th of December next week. :)

  • Exactly, why care about hundreds of thousends of TWD fans who are willing to buy your game when you can just make a new game with an uncertain amount of customers.

  • Sure, concentrate on just one franchise. Did LucasArts a whole lot of good.

  • I'm not mad at telltale I was just upset and realize I'm not the person here who feels the same. When I first found out I was mad, if borderlands Is good then I will play it (not playing got) it's just those two games don't intrest me. Do you guys still think there will be a season 3 after they make got and tales of borderlands possibly?
Anyways, the thing is telltale really got us pumped up for the walking dead since they said they'll have news early next week or sooner. Yes or sooner which of course made us think Saturday :D. But instead we got two new games announced when all the hype was around walking dead and there was some around twau. I felt as if this took away from walking dead season 2 as it entered its near premier and I felt tricked and not in that good way. So I honestly am agreeing with Freddie I'm still a fan just a little fed up or upset.

Two days before the wolf among us released there was a early access app added for reviewers and the last season 2 app was updated 11 days ago.

He'll supply that link with as much certainty as the last two times he claimed Valve was already in possession of the final episode 1 build...

...the PC/Mac builds that is, which Telltale, throughout the years, has prided themselves to work on until the very last hour before release.

  • Then maybe Telltale should consider hiring more people to satisfy the needs of all customers.
As long as they keep their schedule I won't complain, but it seems like they can't handle 4 games at once.

I disagree. It happens. Precious few of the Sam & Max and Monkey Island community are still here. And they have voiced about the very same complaint. Those who came for Bone? Anyone with a 2006 register date? Fact is, the more vastly popular a franchise is, the faster it gets unhip. Telltale can't just be doing Season 3, Season 4, Season 5 of The Walking Dead. New shores, new IPs, new ideas, that's their life blood. There's a good side though if you're really not interested in Borderlands and Game of Thrones - in 2015 already, Telltale could come out with a completely surprising newly acquired franchise you happen to be totally into.

    It's how they're doing things, I think.

The rumored December 17th date is only for PC release, yes? Because Playstation usually writes up what will be available during the new week on their blog, so they would be letting us know like Sunday/Monday if Season 2 is indeed releasing on the 17th.

But now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever seen the Walking Dead included in the weekly Drop.

  • I'm mad because they know the Vita players are waiting for an answer about TWD Season 2 being launched on their console, yet have been repeatedly ignored. That just makes it worse, since it gives us hope that may fall through. Then they keep saying the game is coming out for Christmas, getting everyone all excited.>_<

  • Whether you want to acknowledge it or not, the purpose of Telltale as a company is not to cater to fans of the Walking Dead. It's to make games.

Uh...actually, they DO have to cater to the fans, because it's the FANS who buy the damn product. At present, WD is their most popular title, and it would have been wiser on their part to give us (at the very least) a fixed release date at VGX, because quite frankly this is getting silly. You can only string along the consumers with wispy statements and nebulous promises for so long before offering something tangible.

and about the anouncement of GoT and Borderlands, I think they should've made it later, not now while people is waiting S2 and Ep2 of TWAU, which should've come out already.

We've been over why they won't give us a fixed release date so I won't get into it again.

And what I meant was that it isn't their job to cater exclusively to TWD fans. Yes, it's their most popular title at present but they can only milk a cash cow for so long before its product goes sour. Sooner or later, the Telltale Walking Dead series will end. All the fans who are only interested in Telltale as a means to get their Walking Dead fix will leave once that happens. What then?

The only fans that Telltale should be catering to are fans of what they do. That is, of course, making kick-ass story-based games. Because those are the fans that are going to be in it for the long haul. And to cater to those fans, they need to find new IPs that provide backdrops for interesting stories to tell. IPs like Game of Thrones and Borderlands.

Whether you want to acknowledge it or not, the purpose of Telltale as a company is not to cater to fans of the Walking Dead. It's to make game
