Will TTG/Steam honor refund requests when push comes to shove?

On the store page, it says in clear terms: Over a season of content spanning across 5 episodes (Episode 1 and 2 Available Now, Episodes 3-5 will be released periodically until Summer 2014).

What if Episode 5 comes out in September 2013? (Can't discount this from happening).

Will Steam/TTG honor refund requests?

Also, it is open to interpretation. Some say until can mean by, which mean Episode 5 must be out before the Summer. Also, what constitutes Summer is another confusion.

If it comes down to this, will you seek a refund? Not because you hate Telltale, but to teach them a honest lesson to not bite off more than they can chew?

PS: For comparison purposes, Kentucky Route Zero wrote that all episodes will be out in 2013 on the store page. But we only got 2/5. Steam is honoring refund requests for the game.

  • That will be pretty shitty to ask for a refund when you have played 80% of the game already. I wouldn't do it. There are many developers who have problems keeping the deadline and stuff like 2-4 weeks delay isn't a big deal.

  • "If it comes down to this, will you seek a refund? Not because you hate Telltale, but to teach them a honest lesson to not bite off more than they can chew?"

That is just the biggest dick move, who would do that?

  • I would. Like I said, to teach them a lesson. I like their games but there's always a limit.

    You mean 2014?

First day of fall isn't until September 23rd this year, so Telltale can get away with releasing it by then. If they got into October, then they'd be in questionable territory, but it's not a legal contract. It's a guideline. It helps buyers to know when to expect the whole game. Things do change and sometimes unforeseeable things happen. To err is human. If Telltale misjudged it, then remember that all people make mistakes. They'll just revise it and try harder to keep to the next deadline. If they make it a habit, then I'd question their scheduling. The Wolf Among Us issue with Episode 2 is likely a one off situation. If you've been following the story on that, The Wolf Among Us was a project for Telltale before they even started TWD S1. Issues were bound to crop up with it. TWD S1 came out without much of a hitch (I didn't play it until the entire season minus 400 Days was out, though) so TWD S2 shouldn't have issues, either.

Thankfully, the game has far fewer hiccups than the TV series does. I wouldn't be too concerned. Episode 2 seems to be ready to release so we should see it by this time next month if not this month. Episode 3 likely won't be far behind (possibly around April-May), Episode 4 in June-July, and Episode 5 August-September going by every other month.

If you are worried, then I would suggest to not buy future games until the entire season is released.

  • Wow, 4 thumbs down. Guess everyone here must be blind Telltale yes-men.

No,maybe you are just blindly overreacting."Not because you hate Telltale, but to teach them a honest lesson to not bite off more than they can chew?".Who are you to teach them a lesson?Okay, okay,i'm calming down.Look.Requesting a refund after you play half of the game just isn't fair, and i think TellTale is working really hard to please your little ass,so why would you need to teach them any lesson, huh?Don't expect people to like your thread, because i don't really think that's gonna happen. We are not "yes-men",we are just fans. And i don't really get the part with "bite off more than you can chew".What's that supposed to mean?As i previously said, they are working their asses off to make your gaming experience good. You don't need to do such a dick move, just because they're trying. If you said what i think you did,you are implying that we should all request our money back after we played half of the game,to show TellTale what douchebags we can be.No,sir(ette).That's not how you do things, okay? And to say we're "blind TellTale yes-men".Are you saying we're not seeing the truth?Because if yes,i'm really interested to see the truth, would you care to show me?What is the truth? All i'm saying is,you should just back off their bulges.Leave the TellTale people alone. If you enjoyed their games, they have the right to their reward. If you didn't,i guess there's no use in playing them, right? Those people earned their money...And you know what?Maybe we are TellTale yes-men,but we are not blind.

Why is everyone thumbing this down, its a legitimate question. I would hope telltale would do that especially if other games do. Its quite possible they will go past it as well as they only have 7 months to finish the game in meaning they have to stick to their schedule pretty tightly. I'm not sure if I will bother as they probably wouldn't say yes anyway, but I do hope telltale will learn something from this if they do go past, that's all that matters.

What if Episode 5 comes out in September 2013? (Can't discount this from happening).

Summer doesn't technically end until September 22, going off the example in your post.

There is a world of difference between being a few weeks late by a vague timeline and "promising the whole game will be out in 2013 while only offering 2/5's of it" as you said.

  • You were so nice.I wonder if my inspirational speech was mean, now. :(
