Ja hallöchen mal ne fragen kommt das Tales of Monkey Island noch in deutsch raus oder ist dies schon der fall wenn ich mir den 1 teil bestell ???

    Non conosco per nulla il tedesco, ma immagino tu abbia chiesto la stessa cosa che abbiamo chiesto noi italiani...la risposta è comunque...NO (almeno per il momento...)...

    TRANSLATION (us italians translate what we say...English don't...TellTale docet): I can't speak German, but I suppose you are asking if the game will be translated in German and the answer is NO (not now at least..)...

    Maybe there will be subtitles in German, French, Italian and Spanish added after all episodes are released. Sorry, but you will have to wait a couple of months.
    You always can ask one of the other German people here if you don't understand a special line or joke.

    Telltale bringt üblicherweise überhaupt nur englische Versionen auf den Markt - die Übersetzung machen dann die Publisher, die das Spiel in den anderssprachigen Märkten herausbringen.

    Wallace & Gromit war eine Ausnahme, da eine Veröffentlichung via XBox Live Arcade laut Microsoft Übersetzungen in mehrere Sprachen mitbringen MUSS.

    In allen anderen Fällen werden sich die Entwickler von Telltale (zu recht) voll und ganz darauf konzentrieren zum Release-Termin eine polierte englische Version fertig zu haben...

    Hi,

    I´m from Germany too, but the English subtitles help a lot.
    If you can speak english, but you have problems to understand the dialogs because they are too fast, The subtitles could solve the problems.

    Kannst du denn ein wenig Englisch?
    Also ich hab mein Englisch mit Fernseh schauen auf Englisch um einiges verbessert ;)

    Spiel das Spiel einfach auf Englisch durch. Vielleicht lernst du auch etwas dabei. :)

    (Translation: Simply play the game in English. Perhaps you'll even learn something that way. :)

    Bis jetzt gibt es 3 Telltale-Spiele mit deutschem Audio. Sam & Max Season 1 und die beiden Bone-Teile. (Bone ist aber absolut überteuert in der deutschen Version!). Bis eine deutsche Version erscheint kann es EWIG dauern. Und selbst dann steht nicht fest, ob sie jemals so gut wird wie die englische Version, die Du hier bekommst.
    Wenn es irgendwie geht empfehle ich die englische Version zu spielen. Aber bitte bedenken: Sollte jemals eine deutsche Version erscheinen und Du willst die spielen wirst Du das Spiel erneut kaufen müssen. Hier oder bei Steam gibt es nur die englischen Versionen.

    Same in the spanish version. Luckily, it's possible to ear it if playing with ScummVM.

    Because it was too difficult to translate. Ye need to keep in mind, me hearty that they not only had to translate it, but that it also had to be a rhyme that make sense. Personally I can't think of anything that's more difficult than translating a rhyme. :(

    Except maybe...discovering THE SECRET OF MONKEY ISLAND™! :D

    Time constrains, afaIk.
    The song is actually on the discs in every version, but skipped by the executable in any localized version of the game. You can turn the game into an English version (with audio still dubbed) by just deleting the LANGUAGE.TAB, and it will play the song.

    Or, if you just want to play directly from the CDs with the native executable, I once made a patch which disables the check for the LANGUAGE.TAB for this reason: http://www.gratissaugen.de/erbsen/CMIPATCH.ZIP
    With this patch, you can keep the translated subtitles and hotspot descriptions while not missing the song.

    It seems, they actually translated a few lines of the song in the LANGUAGE.TAB (German version), but most of them are still English.

    Hallo Technolover, deine Frage wurde schon sooo oft gestellt... ;)
    Die Antwort ist: Ein Release auf Deutsch ist unvermeidlich in Anbetracht der bisherigen Verkaufshistorie jeglichen Produkts in Deutschland, auf dem "Monkey Island" stand. Es kommt ganz sicher. Allerdings: Aktuell gibt es keine Pläne, keinen deutschen Publisher und keine deutschen Untertitel, und keine offiziellen Verlautbarungen von TTG, was in dieser Hinsicht geplant ist. Ich würde sagen, spätestens Weihnachten 2010 hast du, was du möchtest... also noch eine lange Wartezeit.

    The answer is: A German release is inevitable considering the sales history of every single "Monkey Island" product in Germany. It will be translated, that's for sure. However, at present, there are no plans, no German Publisher and no German subtitles, let alone official statements from TTG concerning their plans. I'd take a wild guess and say that X-mas 2010 at the latest, you will have what you're seeking. But that's a long time to wait for sure).

    Treat Telltale fairly, you'll have italian subtitles in the future.
