    I'm still waiting for the day when Steam releases some sort of built in Wine type deal. How awesome would that be if the Steam client was just one giant wrapper that let you run PC games on a Mac? Mind you, I'm in no way connected with steam, I just think it would be an awesome thing for them to do.

    [edit] Sorry, didn't try to ignore the topic at hand. As mentioned elsewhere in this thread, it is something we'd love to do someday, but but we no real details on the when or the how. Same with any other platform really. Gotta catch em all.

    I would never buy a Mac for gaming, only for Professional use. Because of their software and tools/ protection. Although Macs used to be for gaming like at their dawn of existence, I would never buy one for gaming now.

    YAY, AN OVER PRETENCIOUS MAC USER,

    macs arent for gaming, in any sense of the word, so if you want to play a game on your mac, youve only got yourself to blame, i use a mac in college and a PC at home, and for editting movies and pictures, the mac is great! and, not much else, i still prefer all the browsers and word and things on a PC,

    THE 10111'RD PSALM

    The Computer is my taskmaster; I need not think.
    He maketh me to write flawless reports
    He leadeth me with Computer-Aided Instruction
    He restoreth my jumbled files
    He guideth me through the program with menus.

    Yea, though I walk through the valley of
    the endless GOTO,
    I will fear no error messages;
    For thy User's Manual is with me.

    Thy disk drive and thy Pac-Man-they comfort me.
    Thou displayest a spreadsheet program before me
    in the presence of my supervisor.

    Thou enableth the printout;
    the floor runneth over (with paper).
    Surely good jobs and good pay shall follow me
    All the days of my life;

    And I shall access your CPUs, forever.

    (P.S. Please note that 10111 is the binary equivalent of 23.)

    You are confusing Mac/PC with Leopard/Windows. I use a Mac for games all the time, but I do it through bootcamp.

    I haven't read this whole thread, so maybe that's been pointed out already.

    Oh, you can't play games on your Mac? Next thing you know you'll tell me can't cook a turkey in your microwave, or you can't sink a putt with a 1 wood.

    You chose to buy a Mac because you cared more about the man in the commercial calling you a nerd than you did about playing games. You knew what you were getting into, don't be mad because a small independent developer isn't bending over backwards because you bought the wrong tool for the job.
    will you have my babies

    My, some people are very argumentative. Macintosh gaming is 'dead' only in the same way that adventure games were; if you stop making them, it becomes a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

    If you have an Intel-based Macintosh, Tales runs quite well in CrossOver Games, without even very much in the way of tricky configuration, beyond setting it to run in a window. A good native port would still be better, but it's a sight better than Curse was under SoftWindows in the pre-ScummVM days.

    I always found it astonishing how demanding some hardcore apple fans are.
    For every game on this planet there is at least one guy who feels betrayed because it wasn't done for mac. People still have to learn that apple is not the center of our universe (even tho the commercials and the "I'm a Mac" feel will tell you otherwise.)
    I bought my macbook for work, but also with gaming in mind. First thing I did was installing bootcamp. Whats the big deal. Like, seriously. It's free. You don't even have to download something.

    I don't think it's unreasonable to want things to work natively. Certainly bootcamp is a huge help, but the problem with it is that I tend to spend more time in Windows than I do in OSX. But yeah, it's the same hardware either way, so of course it *seems* like it should just work either way.

    Now if only we could get DirectX for Macs....

    The Windows commercials done in response are worse, with PC users saying "I'm a PC". Justin Long is merely playing an actual human representation of a computer.

    Plus, the PC commercials don't have John Freaking Hodgman, so they lose.

    You don't need to defend apple or counterattack to microsoft.
    I know how shitty both are :)
    So basically I dislike them equally.

    Funny story, I spent about 3 months seducing a friend to buy Tales Of Monkey Island.
    When I finally suceeded and she was on this site to actually go ahead and buy the chapters...we both had to realise it was pc only. :D

    So, your loss Telltale...your loss.

    Why would THEY have to change the way they make games if YOU can buy instal windows on your mac... i think that's possible isn't it?
  • edited November 2009
    See, that is what I would do if I had a mac...that said, a lot of people don't feel comfortable with something like that.
    It's not userfriendly if you realise up front you have to go through major hoops to enjoy the game.

    Fair enough!

    I think my main point is, when is John Hodgman going to lend his voice to a Telltale game? :P

    Mac users ARE religious zealots. Didn't you get the memo? I'm a windows user but I've always admired the independent spirit and self reliance of the Linux user. Unlike the Mac users who WHINE forever, the Linux user simply works the problem with a calm confidence until it is solved. I wish I were that cool.

    thank you for the kind words. i only think it’s the other way round: there are two types of linux users;
    1. people like my mom, who some time had to use a computer and told a linux user type 2 (e.g. me) to set them one up and explain it. i chose ubuntu and she liked. i will raise eventual children on ubuntu, too.
    2. people like me, who started with a windows-pc and started to modify it heavily at one point. they have to fix the resulting problems and gain confidence. and one day they really want to work with their pc and someone tells them about this „linux stuff“…
      people like this either never touch windows again or install it for gaming only.
    i use linux for everything except gaming. for this i have my win7.
