He got bit partly due to the actions of Clementine and went on a suicide mission to save her only for him to be put down or left by her in the end after a very emotional final interaction between the two. The whole thing was well set up.
I hope they don't kill her but I think it would kind of be cool to have the same kind of death as Lee , it would bring memories of season 1 and everything ... but if she had to die I would like to see it like that.

If she remains boring drone, then ill be sad. If she was still that Sweet little girl, then my entire day would be ruined.

She'll probably die at some point to mark the end of "clementine's story" and then start with whole new characters.
