What games have you played and regretted buying them?

For example, I regretted playing:

  • Life is Strange
  • Watch Dogs
  • The Amazing Spiderman 1 and 2
  • Star Wars Battlefront EA
  • Assassin's Creed Unity
  • L.A. Noire

  • Firewatch

  • Life is strange and Call of duty ghosts.

  • Assassin's Creed Unity. Like what was Ubisoft thinking?! Also Destiny. What was I thinking?!

Surprisingly not The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. I thoroughly enjoyed the game unlike most others, and got it for half off.

  • Arma 2

    Supreme Ruler 1939

    Dead Island

Mount & Blade With Fire and Sword

    Spore..........

  • The problem I have with Mount & Blade: With Fire and Sword is that it endlessly crashes.

  • The Hitman Collection which came out in 2013. The controls were confusing as was the game.

Also Resident Evil Operation: Raccoon City. I was seduced by the cool. And 6, and it looked promising.

  • Aside from that it's still a decent game, but yeah. Warband is where it's at.

The problem I have with Mount & Blade: With Fire and Sword is that it endlessly crashes.

Battlefield 4. My interest in the game waned pretty quickly. I can't even tell you if the game is good or not, I just don't care. Arkham Origins as well. City was so much fun to me; Montreal just couldn't make its game as well. Its effort seemed somewhat lazy. And GoT was frustrating glitchy and voice/animation was not in sync for long stretches.

  • Until Dawn

It takes up way too much space and it's way too short (imo)

  • Its also overrated (imo)

  • When compared to Warband it was lack luster personally, when compared to Warband Mods it was garbage.

    I wouldn't say it's a bad game though.

Though I've never played it myself I've only watched playthroughs. I try to avoid booting up my plebstation at all costs.

    Life is Strange

Yeah but for real I regret buying it since I quit after 10 minutes because I realized what the dialogue would feel like and found out it wasn't for me

GLAD I ONLY BOUGHT EPISODE 1 LMAO

  • Dead Island - An F game in my eyes. THERE'S NOTHING BUT ESCORT MISSIONS! And don't even get me started on the Jungle levels. Oh my god I hated it.

Fable 3 - It came with my Xbox 360 when I bought it a while back. It's hands down the most embarrassingly easiest game I've ever played. The whole game is a joke.

Need For Speed: Most Wanted (2012) - I can definitely see why this is considered a really good game to many. The 2005 one is my favorite of all time, and I really wanted to enjoy this one. I must have had bad luck that time because my version was buggy as hell. The most notable bug was the sound effects coming in and out as I played.

Left 4 Dead - I might get a lot of heat for this one. Left 4 Dead 2 I really liked. But the first one is so painfully bland. The second provided more variation and more WEAPONS. There's literally only 6 guns in the entire first game!

Gears of War 2 - The stiffest third-person shooter I've ever played in my life. Felt so repetitive also.

GTA: Liberty City Stories - This was technically a Christmas present that I wanted, but kinda feel bad for having my parents buy it now. :/ The most boring GTA game out there.

  • Watch Dogs. Definitely.

I don't really regret playing Life is Strange -- even though the last two episodes were really disappointing imo.

Honestly, Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain. The production values are pretty high and the gameplay mechanics may be very good. But the problems are:

    • The lack of side-ops variety, with there being even less types of side-ops than in PW, which makes doing the side-ops more of a chore.
    • The empty and boring open world with several copy and paste outposts and only a few interesting bases. You know, it would've been perfect to have the Mujahideen in Afghanistan and then being given the option to fight alongside them, like in MGS4 and how you could side with the rebels and fight alongside them, and this is something that would've made the world feel more alive.
    • The lifeless motherbase (seriously they promised stuff for it that weren't in the final game), seriously every players' motherbases will look the same aside from the colour, which isn't what they promised of everyone's motherbase possibly being different from one another, your soldiers will never be training, story characters aside from Quiet don't show up (and all Quiet does is sunbathe and pose for you), you don't see your soldiers using vehicles and training with your soldiers ammounts to beating their faces in. I don't think it even improves their stats.
    • The ammount of story that was cut from the game, with one plot point not even being resolved. If you want to see what was supposed to happen, you'll just have to see a video of a bunch of unfinished cutscenes. Even then, it didn't really feel like an ending, but it would've been better than the current one. Mind you, I actually liked the end twist, even though there is a plot hole, but it just didn't feel like a real ending.
    • Speaking of the story, its structure is just pretty disjointed. You'll do one mission that is relevant to the plot and then proceed to do a lot of missions that don't really have anything to do with it, and this will happen a number of times throughout the game. Then there's chapter 2... it's awful. Several missions are just harder versions of chapter 1 missions and then there are missions that aren't really all that important. Really, chapter 2 only has like 3 missions that are actually important. And there is its name, "Race". Chapter 2 has nothing to do with race, unless it's "Race to finish the game because our budget ran out and we're on a deadline". At least chapter 1 did explore the theme of revenge.
    • I can't help but feel disappointed with characters like Ocelot, Skullface and the Man On Fire. Ocelot is just a boring encyclopedia, lacking a lot of the character he had in MGS1-4, and it doesn't help that Troy Baker's performance is underwhelming compared to Zimmerman's or Keaton's, which may be due to the game's voice direction. Skullface is just a pretty a disappointing antagonist. The most memorable thing about him is probably his quote "Such a lust for revenge. WHOOOOOO?!". He's not the worst antagonist in the series, imo, but he was just disappointing. He only shows up a few times before he dies. You don't even get to fight him. The Man ON Fire shows up in like 4 missions and you never really get a proper boss fight with him .
    • I like Kiefer Sutherland's performance as Venom Snake, in some cases I'd say he was actually a better choice than Hayter. The problem is how he's a mute in a lot of the cutscenes, which can lead to awkward moments like the jeep ride with Skullface. Seriously, it makes Venom look like he didn't give even the tiniest of fucks while Skullface was talking about his plans.
    • Speaking of boss fights, they're terrible, Most of them are just the Skulls who are nothing more than bullet sponges and then there's Quiet, who is pretty much a shittier version of The End. Love how she gives away her position by humming. The only decent boss fight is against the Metal Gear, imo.
    • They hyped the game up about it breaking taboos and showing Big Boss' descent into madness, yet what we get was a kind, polite man who barely showed his anger, not even when faced with a traitor who caused the death of his comrades, and I don't see what was so taboo about it. Sure, there are child soldiers, but it's not like you can kill them or Venom forces them back into the battlefield. No, instead he's glad they're getting some basic education and believes they deserve a better life than one behind a gun.
    • The return to Camp Omega for owners of Ground Zeroes was hyped up... and then CO is only a map in MGO. And then Konami said that no such thing was ever promised. Great.

After waiting 3 years for the game, I just can't help but feel really disappointed with it.

  • Life is Strange (Episode 1) and Arkham Knight (but luckily I got a refund for that.

  • Fallout 3. Buggy as hell. No more games from Bugesda.

  • I don't really regret playing any games but I absolutely hated Modern Warfare 3.

  • Lucky people who were smart enough to buy only one episode of Life is Strange, I bought all of them, because I thought that it will be as good as TellTale... It wasn't. Rest in spaghetti my 19,99€, never forgetti.

  • Still, I'm not upset I bought it, otherwise it wouldnt have been fair to assess how much it sucked.

  • The only game I really regret buying was pokemon white due to the horrific pokemon in it. Other games while sometimes bad at least I can give a fair opinion of them

  • For me that one was okay.... Its everything after and including advanced warfare when they essentially ripped of titanfall and changed the whole flow of the game to parkour crap. Black ops 3 was okay though, I think from now on i'll just skip the other games and buy black ops

I haven't actually bought the game, but I'm glad that I decided to not buy Until Dawn after watching the game on YouTube. Saved me a good amount of cash for myself. Wasn't worth the £45 pounds to pay for it.

What put me off from buying Until Dawn was the short length, the unbalanced character screen-time, the plot-armor certain characters have, and the twist that changed the initial theme of the game, which made the earlier events of the game lose the impact it had on second playthroughs.

  • None. I always try out the game first through torrent and buy if I like it. See, I'm smart like that.

  • Black ops is the only COD game I enjoy now. I stopped buying the rest after Ghost.

  • Game of Thrones (telltale series)

    The Evil Within

Mortal Kombat X (great game but should've known nether realm would throw a middle finger up to day one buyers)

    Darksiders

    Dark Souls

  • You regretted playing L.A Noire? WHAT!??????
I suppose it's just opinion, but holy shit, one of the best games ever made imo.
I've personally never regretted a purchase. I suppose I was pretty disappointed with Mafia 2 and Tomb Raider, but they were on Xbox Free With Gold.

  • Or playing a demo. Unfortunately, most game devs don't create demos for the games.

Which is why my consoles don't have much games since I don't really trust reviews and trailers since I'd rather play a small portion of a game before buying it.

True. But I don't think I will ever buy any game from Dontnod, before checking it on Youtube first.

    Only best for one playthrough.

    • Life is Strange: While it is one of my favorite games I played this year, I regret buying it. The story was good enough and kept me interested in, but the dialogue is very cringey and the characters are dull and boring. Oh, and the last choice made none of my previous choices actually matter, while at least the choices in Telltale games kinda matter till the end. Oh, and the final episode had many flaws which made me like the series a lot less as a whole.
    • The Wolf Among Us: I usually enjoy all Telltale games, but this is by far my least favorite Telltale game aside from Minecraft: Story Mode. I found the story uninteresting and I didn't care for any characters at all. But I do think that the choices were meaningful, yet I still enjoyed The Walking Dead: Season 2 way more than what I did with The Wolf Among Us.
