Just think of Full Throttle. I was thrilled when I heard the news of a sequel. But when I saw the grahics they wore going for,,,,it really lowered my expectations for it. And still,,,,it hasnt comed out yet. Do actually believe it has much to do with the gamedesign; which then lowers the expectations for people.
...
The old Dott, Sam&Max, Grim Fandango etc (police quest, kings quest for that matter, and the rest of them) should more or less set the standard for the games even today IF they are to made as a point and click. JUST update the "edges" on the graphics, and do NOT use the damn 3d. 3d games are for other types of games; NOT this.
ummm......
Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
Speaking of which -- is this our cue to begin morphing this thread into an extravaganza of fan-made cross-stitch crossover awesomeness?
It's safe to assume that whenever I make a ridiculous post in a ridiculous thread, that it should be followed by photoshops, cat macros, and amusing inspirational posters.

Ah please give us back the full keyboard control of the early sierra adventure games, or what the heck why do we even have graphics, text adventures are the best
Totally! Spending 2 hours figuring out which parts of speech you can use to get an answer to a simple question from a bloke in a room, now that's a real puzzle.
In all seriousness though, I think the OP sort of has a point underneath the crazy. TOMI is easier than the first three because Guybrush does the right thing first time when you click. I kind of miss ploughing through the 'pull', 'push', 'open' options on everything, tearing your hair out, thinking the game's got a bug because you've tried everything, everything, and nothing works, so you have to start over, and you get to the same place - the same place! - in the game, until - after more than six months of begging your mum to let you call the hint line, to which she always - always refused - your older brother comes running into the garden and he's only bloody solved it:
The key was in the cereal!
And then you're stuck again.
(True story. SIX BLOODY MONTHS. Quite a substantial chunk of existence when you're 9.)

P.S. First post here. Hello all.
So much aggravation, yet we always come back for more. What else does that remind me of... can't quite put my finger on it
I can't believe how much people are whining about the game. It had imperfections: so did all the other games. Having said that, the re-hashing of parallels to old story-features is tiresome (though I suppose it's supposed to be a joke).

I loved Chapter 1 alot. Being a student and graduate of both 2d and 3d animation/art, I think that Tell Tale hit the nail on the head with it's designs. Playing this game cranked with full graphics is amazing! I believe that chapter 1 captured alot of the feelings I got when I first played Monkey Island 15 years ago! I've never been so pumped up for Monkey Island than I am right now! I can't wait for chapter 2.
I think alot of gamers who remember how games used to be miss those feelings, and the magic they had, but to count out games from today will only mean you're missing out on some excellent titles. Maybe you could wait until chapter 2 comes out, and then play through chapter 1 and 2 together. You might get a different feel!
Keep up the awesome work Tell Tale, you have brght back the point-and-click adventure genre and I love where it is going! If you released 5 episodes a year for the next 20 years of monkey island, I would buy every episode and love it!
People must shut up already about the controls, if you don't like them, don't play it, it's simple enough.
So, if they hate the controls, missing the rest of the game is a proper solution? No. Controls are essential to every game, and if they're bad enough, they hamper the experience significantly.

Oh cool, I didn't even think of this. I'll get right on it. All I need to do is
