What do MI newcomers think about SMI:SE and the prospect of further special editions?

Go around and show them the original MI1 Guybrush... or even the one from CMI... and they'd most likely say EXACTLY the same thing.

Come on, Guybrush is INTENDED to look ugly and silly. ;)
Oh, I did that, of course. And everyone so far thinks the old one looks much better. He looks normal, the new guy looks horrible, weirdest haircut and zombie face :D

I'm not sure he was supposed to look ugly until Monkey Island 3. He looked like a rather good looking guy in the two first games, on the box art as well.

^ Well, he's not that ugly in CMI in my opinion. He looks a little... You know... Like he's in his late 30's. I can't come up with the right words...
Though yeah, he's actually handsome in CMI, especially after you get used to him a little. Though the EMI Guybrush looks a little wimpy (especially considering that he was supposed to be the same person he was in MI2), he's still not exactly ugly...
Now the new Guybrush in TMI? Well, he's just plain sexy. Then again, what do people who actually like men think?
And you know, the SMI:SE Guybrush isn't ugly, he looks like he's... err... stoned. And that weird quasi-realistic look doesn't work out all that well in HD, I think...

As opposed to liking video game sprites?

Voice is the only improvement these games need.

I really dont understand why to do that, they should do a full SE like SOMI but with better artwork, but add the option to add voice to the original then you have everything?

True short story: I have a friend. He never heard of Monkey Island. I showed him CMI. He liked it. I showed him screenshots of SMI: SE before it was launched. Now, he wants to buy SMI: SE for the iPhone and Xbox, because he allready owns it on PC, he preordered Tales, and he loves the old games.

Conclusion: SMI: SE brings new people into the MI universe. Tales brings even more people. Combining modern graphics with old games is a win-win situation (companies/new fans).

Well i played monkey island for the first time with SOMI SE and i have to say i loved it

i always wanted to get into MI when i heard about it in 2004 but just couldnt play through the older games ... chunky pixels and no voice overs. Ive bought TOMI but i havent played it yet .. going to finish SOMI SE first then play the others in order

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SOMI SE BECAUSE WITHOUT IT I NEVER WOULDVE GOTTEN INTO MONKEY ISLAND

new comers say something like that

i myself ofcourse have played through all the MIs in order when they were released .. and i prefer the older one over the SE just because the SE wasnt done all that well :)

I'd love to vote in your poll, MI, but there isn't a third option. I don't care much about the graphics, I care about the story and the interface. Graphics are a nice means to draw people in at first (I will admit to having the occasional immediate graphics whore reaction to impressive visuals at the start of a game) but without the game behind them being any good, visuals don't mean squat in my opinion.

Brain! I never realized you were new to the MI series either! Nevertheless, I shall add another option.

EDIT: Alas, I cannot edit the poll now. I was actually going to put two new options: "I don't care, I'd play them either way" and "I don't care, I wouldn't play them either way".
