Will ToMI & SMI:SE ever hit retail?

I know we'll be able to buy the DVDs of ToMI on this 'ere website, but I'm just wondering, are LucasArts wanting to move into the downloadable content arena exclusively with our P&C games?

Do you guys think we'll ever see the Special Editions or ToMI on store shelves?

Well, some of Telltale's previous releases have been available in retail outlets, so I would say odds are pretty good that it'll be in retail once it's finished, actually.

you can get a DVD with all 5 episodes on it and most likely some bonus content after all 5 episodes come out. I pre-ordered so I get the limited edition slipcase for free.

So yeah, I assume it will come out to retail, at least TOMI will.

For SoMI:SE, I'd be happy if there was a way for me to get it without being a) on Steam or b) in the US/Canada. At the moment, the two ways to get the PC version aren't available to me.... :(

I preordered too, so I'll have my nice shiny Steve's Painted Picture(tm) cover, but the actual retail versions have been different to the ones TTG sell direct, aren't they?

I would quite like both games on retail disc on the wii, but I can't see that happening :(

Maybe in a few years we'll have a number of Special Editions and a Wii Compilation won't be out of the question, but I can't see TTG releasing ToMI on the Wii at retail if it's on Wiiware.

That reminds me, I'd better start another Strong Bad Wii retail disc petition!

Well since Lucasarts are behind Monkey Island, I assume that will make retail versions of TMI almost guaranteed, since they can publish it. I wouldn't be surprised if the PC release of TMI also came with MI:SE in the same box.

Wasn't there something on the Website about when you buy the game you'll be able to get the CD with all 5 chapters after they all came out as Download Content? for just the shipping cost..? I thought i read it somewhere..?

Edit*: As for SoMI:SE at the moment it's only Download Content (but it's not a big download... I started it went playing Tales and after 15mins the game was ready for 100% on Steam)

I don't know about you guys in the States, but I'd say a retail release of a German version is sure for both ToMI and MI:SE. Sales of the original games were just too good, I assume. However, it could be more than a year before this actually happens (Sam & Max season 2 will see its retail release in late October, as of now).

The Telltale Boxes usually do look better than the cheaper retail versions. This is why i ordered the Sam&Max Seasons directly from TT, although a German Retail would have been cheaper. Can´t wait till they arrive :)
