Never even seen the first one. I will have to check it out because I'm told it's pretty awesome.

When I first heard about it I thought they are trying to milk a dead horse, but who knows... It might be cool.

It helps that they have the director of the original film producing this one.

I don't really think that this is going to work quite as well as the original. I mean, the effects of Tron actually looked like the computers and arcade games of the time. The aesthetic doesn't quite translate very well, in my opinion.

I don't care if it doesn't work, it's a new TRON movie, and that's pretty awesome.

Probably the first TRON my bro would be bothered to watch.

I like how quiet the trailer is, as opposed to having stuff like action music booming into your ears. It really helps with what's going on with the movie.

And by the way, the website I got the trailer from is a viral website for the movie. It's FlynnLives.org, and it's basically a website saying that they're people who believe that Kevin Flynn from the first movie isn't dead, but in hiding. Anybody else try entering your e-mail address into the website?

I have never seen the movie, although I have heard about it. I was otherwise busy and forgot to tape it last time it was on TV.

1982 was good year for sci-fi, because Blade Runner, The Thing and The Wrath of Khan were released. So Tron got really tough competition, maybe it's one reason why it's less known than many other sci-fi classics of 1980s.

I would say that it may not be best idea to make a sequel, because many recent installations of more famous sci-fi brands of the era have been poor compared to originals. Although naturally there's always exceptions.

If anyone wants to know, here's the official plot that Disney released:

TRON Legacy is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

Being a huge fan of the first Tron movie, I am pretty excited to see Flynn return.
Looks sweet. It would make me very happy to see this film come out.

Hopefully a future installment of Kingdom Hearts will somehow incorporate some elements from the newest movie.

I think things such as Kingdom Hearts and that Tron guy helped in favor of Tron's popularity.

    It looks and sounds fantastic.

Looks pretty boring to me. Seems like it'll be really pointless plot-wise and just focus on special effects i.e. Speed Racer. And this one won't even have Christina Ricci to occasionally stare at.

I spare myself reading the plot as i want to enjoy the movie but it looks very cool. Just compare it to the old lightcycle scenes. Particles are falling kind of artificial sometimes and the rocks look weird on a first view but maybe that's done by intention.

I like the scene were Jeff Bridges stands up, very strong scene in my opinion.

The motorcycle sounds and the synth theme sound great.

Does anyone know if and how Pixar is involved?

Bit early to assume that. The original Tron had a pretty entertaining (if completely nonsensical) plot, so if the sequel has even a bit of that, I'll be happy with it

I'm a little annoyed that the supposed "new" trailer of actual movie footage that was to be seen at this year's Comic Con turned out to just be the same concept trailer from last year, just upgraded to HD and changed at the end with the retitling to Tron Legacy instead of TR2N. I still look forward to the movie, though. I just wonder, since they dropped the 2, if they plan to go with the original plan of having the game Tron 2.0 as canon.

Well, it's also good for the people who didn't go to Comic-Con. ...such as me.

And I think that I forgot to mention that DAFT PUNK is doing the score. Just thought I'd let you guys know.

From what I heard (from people who saw both) they actually redid the whole trailer. The scenario is the same, but the animation is all redone (or at least re-rendered with improvements).

Also, some reports of the trailer mentioned an ending that show's Flynn's son visiting the old arcade, but I guess that clip was exclusive to Comic-con, since it ties into the arcade-based exhibition they had built there.

I still really want to play Tron 2.0 :( I would have bought the Xbox version but it was never made compatible with the 360.

For those of you not planning to go see Alice in Wonderland, I give you the most important of the trailers, playable in 1080p.
