50% Off a Full Season! Click here to read! All available in the treasure hunt!

edited July 2009 in Tales of Monkey Island
Hey all!

Like OMG. I went through the treasure code input thing for MI. Pretty much, I wrote down the pictures of each eye/nose/mouth and assigned em a number. I then went through and entered stuff like

111
112
113
114
121
122

etc etc.

What I won was.... (codes)

50% off a single episode.
$5.00 off a purchase of 8.95 or more
50% off a FULL SEASON
Avatars
Avatars (the same ones...)
Wallpaper of Voodoo Lady

So I promptly bought sam and max season 2, and I'll get Wallace and Gromit Bogey Man tomorrow for $5 off.

You can get this stuff too! Just enter the codes and you will win them. If I've missed any, tell me, as there are still 3 missing spots. I believe they're not coded in yet, but hurry up and use these things before Telltale realizes and puts a stop to it.

If I've missed one, tell me!

Ooh, I I felt like going through all of those, I would do it! But I don't. Pictures....? :)
  • edited July 2009
    Is this ethical?
  • edited July 2009
It only takes 5min. I can upload a screenshot if you want, but you could just do it yourself. You can tell it works as every 4 combos or so it tells you you have unlocked a map piece, and it was about every 4-5 map pieces that I unlocked a new map.

Ok. I have somebody over, so pictures would be nice.
  • edited July 2009
Delete that shit now!!!! Seriously!!! Do it now before you screw it for all of us!!! The only reason they will stop it is if idiots post the winning combinations like you just did!!! Don't you ever think before you act!?!?!?

    Here you go. Proof!

    Just buy now!

The second I made that purchase, they were aware anyway!

So do it fast! It's already too late!!!
  • edited July 2009
Oh, I meant the tiki heads. Do you mind posting those?
  • edited July 2009
Nah that would take ages. Just use the code system of 1A1 etc, I honestly didn't remember em. It doesn't take that long really. You get a map piece every 10 seconds or so.

The codes are legit but that doesn't mean that you have to post them.... seriously delete it now. You are going to ruin it for all of us.

    Did he post the codes?

There's already posts in the sticky thread, and staff read that. Jake even posted about a few people's findings, and it won't be long before they find out, and shut down the code.

It's gonna get shut down anyway, so I might as well post a big topic on it. Did you enter all the codes yet?

In his first post... I'm telling you, he is proving himself to be none to smart.
  • edited July 2009
I think each code is unique and linked to your account. Heck, the prizes may even be different, but I doubt it.

It strikes me that they would be limited prizes, but it could be a promotional thing. I dunno. But the 50% off is cool, so you have nothing to lose to do it now and add the codes to your account before they run out.

They're not the codes. That's just an example of my system.

Well, I've unlocked 5 dollars off, but no other maps are showing up. :/

What part do you not understand about they know that people are finding the codes.... they want people to find the codes.... but on there own. It is stupidity like this that all of our priviledges taken away. If you want more contests like this, you will take down the codes & before they out that you posted them.

I didn't post the codes, I posted a system. If you want to do it yourself and wait patiently for the maps, that's fine.

But I have a feeling that these special deals won't last long and are a limited offer. But they may be promotional.

It just seems too good to be true to be giving 50% off to EVERYONE. In most contests, that would only be 20 people or so, or it would only be available for a set timeframe.

I may be wrong and it could be promotional, but in the instance it's not and you want the coupons, use the system.

Shouldn't we wait for the actual official stuff? :(
  • edited July 2009
Shouldn't we use the codes while they work?

Uh, so what does it say on those pages you have obviously seen? Shouldn't there be some kind of offer limit legal blabla on the same site?

    Read what?
  • edited July 2009
His first post, he didn't say any codes or any winning combinations. Just said if you try every combination you win.
  • edited July 2009
if we do all combos now we will have nothing to do while waiting 4 the other chapters XP
  • edited July 2009
It doesn't say much on the pages, just that you should enter this code to get a special offer. You can only use one at a time, they're single use and they're unique to each account.

Best thread ever. Thanks so much, Fury! I'm getting Sam and Max Season 2! :)

Telltale is a small company. I wouldn't even steal from Ubisoft, but this is madness.

Why would waiting until you're supposed to use them stop them from working?

Maybe if they discontinued the promotion because of people like you abusing it, that would stop them from working.

The problem is, that it's brute forcable at all, and it doesn't get better by it having only 4^3 combinations.
When I first saw it, i thought about that too, but then i thought - Why would they enable the combinations in advance, and forgot about it.
Now i could not resist doing it and feel bad :(
  • edited July 2009
Actually, I agree. The combinations should only work once the corresponding maps have been released.

But just because there's a loophole, that doesn't make it okay to exploit it.

Don't worry. It will pass. :D You'll have new games to play!

It's better than what the pirates are doing, when the company doesn't even get 1% back.

What are you on about? All you are doing is spoiling the fun for yourself and everyone else. The map pieces unlock over time, as do the rewards when you complete them. It figures that the codes were going to be some of the later prizes for the big, more difficult maps, a nice reward for completing them. All you've done is randomly inputted into the Tiki and got what you would have got anyway if you'd waited.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Did you think for a few seconds that maybe Telltale should have made a more complicated system, like 10 rows instead of 3, before posting this comment?

He is right, there is nothing wrong with doing it, as long as you are not using MULTIPLE versions of the same type of code, theres nothing wrong with it. Better than the pirates that pirate perfectly great games.

    I won't even mention what I just realized :(
TTG needs to prevent this exploit.

Pirates would have no intention of paying for a game otherwise, and since they were never potential customers in the 1st place, TTG loses nothing!

You are in fact not better but worse than pirates, by intending to legitimize your stealing from TTG with exploits! I would have more respect for you if you had just downloaded a warez copy instead. Shame on you people!
