No Stan in tales of monkey island

No Stan until NOW. There are 5 (yes five) episodes. They cannot possibly put every character in the first one. Where would be the surprise in that.

And he was mentioned is LotSN by Doro.

I think that Stan should have been in all episodes, selling different things in each one, like a Monkey Island mix from Sybil and Bosco

    Doro the explorer? XD

    Premature exclaimation.

Just give it time, you don't see Stan on every island in the earlier games, do you?
  • edited August 2009
Yeah, I think we can be fairly sure he will turn up in a later episode. He seems to be everybodys favourite besides Murray.
  • edited August 2009
i didn't understand most of that.

just dont wana miss stan out..

He will undoubtedly be in a later episode. He was referenced by D'oro (some sales man in a jacket waving his arms around) and when you pick up the bombs (they are stans own make)

Personally, i find references to be better than actually meeting him. He was awful in EfMI and just felt shoehorned in. I don't want that to happen again.

Perhaps in ToMI, he should sell shoehorns.

... on an island filled with mer-people
  • edited August 2009
he was there selling something, you just didnt SEE him there selling it lol

Stan always feels out of place, that is what makes him such a great character. After his odd success as a character in MI1, he has basically been shoehorned into EVERY game, not just 4. That is part of the reason I find him so funny, just seeing what weird scam he is running now.

He felt much more integrated into CMI (used for a couple of puzzles) i haven't played MI2 so i can't comment.

Stan was the best when selling previously used coffins. :D I hope they don't make him some stupid paper-work salesman again. Well, okay, it worked well with selling insurance in CMI, but he was completely unfunny in EMI, and I don't even think his job made a difference at all.

But I thought LucasArts was brilliant to have Stan stuck in a coffin in CMI - it's good to have some continuity sometimes, and a decent explanation why he changed his business.

He wasnt on the first island in any of the sequels so relax

I loved stan, but in 4 he was bad.

    He'll show up. Don't worry.

his best was in 2 and 3

If Stan was in every chapter I would have got seriously annoyed... one chapter will do :/

My 360 avatar can be Stan now :D

I just hope his hat will look cool! That makes about 50% of his character.

other 25 % abt the charecter is the whacky background music ..love that

I wonder what percent of Stan's awesomeness is the completely static pattern on his coat... a pretty big percent I'd say.
  • edited August 2009
12.5 I'd say, with the remainder being attitude.
Note that none of the cut went into 'salesmanship'.

His hat rocks, but I thought his crazy hand/foot/arm/facial expressions made 50% of his character.

That's kinda odd, because he fits so well into CoMI exactly because of what you do to him in MI 2. I would have thought his appearance just too random if I hadn't played MI 2.

I agree Stan should show up at some point because yes he's a staple character that's been in every game so far, with that said tho.. I have to admit something...

A part of me... hates Stan. I think he's funny and I don't mind when he shows up but, a part of me just hates him... I'll leave it that :D

I'm certain to be unpopular amongst many MI fans now I suppose. :p

...Maybe it was that one time he crashed the game in SoMI, I dunno...

Well now he'll know what to do when he runs into him in MI2 I suppose... Accidental spoiler? heheh

It's got to be over 50%...

i think a little percentage goes to the purple font as well in subtitles used on Stan...kinda pimps the charecter lol

I think it would be incredibly obnoxious if Stan was in every episode.

If Stan is in an episode but not his theme tune from MI 2 through 4, every member of Telltale's music staff will be mysteriously murdered.
