I agree. The character's in ToMI aren't memorable. Except for maybe De Singe and D'Oro ("How I loathe Pink Pajama Pierre..."). Winslow is not good at all in the 'Guybrush crewmen department'. In the past Guybrush's crews have all been terrific character, Winslow seems a little off. Even the almighty LeChuck seems forgettable. If I wasn't a fan of the series I'd forget all about the fearsome Zombie-Demon-Whatever. But mind me, love the game and LOLed a lot. Specially when De Singe is stuck inside the idol-thing. Priceless!
You don't see much of LeChuck, but he seemed on character to me. I think the loss of Earl Boen really hurt the character, but I'm looking forward to seeing more of the 100% Evil Free LeChuck.
Still, my problems aside, I'm enjoying the series so far. Telltale has been getting alot of my money as of lately.

That's the thing... I dont know if I quite agree that LeChuck's Evil can be sucked out of him... He was fearsome when he was alive and even pushed Grandpa Marley down the whirpool (or tried to... ). I hope he's just pretending and deep inside his the same bloodthirsty villain we all love.
I don't remind having LOL moments with any Monkey Island games. They are IMO chuckle games and that's what I do. I laughed with Sam and Max. Some moments are hylarious.
Yeah, I remember having slight lol moments during Sam and Max. I never laughed during the first ep. of Tales. It was more of a giggle in my mind if anything.

Yeah, he was evil when alive..I think he was returned to life, and had all the "nasty" removed from him as well. That's why he is rosey cheeked..But we shall all find out soon.
I tend not to laugh openly about things, but I do in the Monkey Island games (and some others, like the Sam and Max games, anything by Tim Schafer, and so on).
I like to laugh at random things anyway (such as the
"Scariest closet in the World"
and the
"Fascinating yet Utterly Pointless Rowboat"
), so yes, I did. I also really liked the Indy reference with the pillars, and Crimpdigit's "Free vowels! Get 'em while they're vowels!" Oh, and the aforementioned Poxy-Hand-Punching-Guybrush-After-Bad-Punnage running gag.
I'm on Keeping The British End Up, the MI6.co.uk forums - a dedicated James Bond fansite. The forums over there are slightly easier to navigate, but that may be because I've used only those for the past five or six years. I thought I'd give the TT forums a go, because I loved the free Sam & Max episode they gave away, and once I heard about MI returning I wanted to keep in the know.
...However, I digress. I liked the comedy in Narhwal, and thought that it kept in line with the latter Monkey Island games' style. Some gags did feel shoehorned in (the lathe/chicken gag being an obvious one), but on the whole I had more than one giggle while playing (the whole Guybrush/Elaine "Are you okay?" dialogue in the prologue, for example)...
There were some fun moments in Mi5: Chapter 1 where I did giggle a lot. Indeed, the whole "are you okay" with Elaine, but also I laughed out loud with the books at the voodoo lady (especially the titles from the forum users) and the astma thing that Guybrush does with it.
But Monkey Island 2 and 3 were the games that made me crack up (little buddy) the most (David Jones' locker from the book is a killer, dog and monkey stuffing in jacket, LaFoot with Guybrush on Skull Island etc.)
I laugh out loud at some of the visual gags and in-jokes more but both me and my Sis have developed a slightly warped sense of humour (I was 9 when I first played SOMI). Add to that a diet of Bottom, The Young Ones, Red Dwarf, The Brittas Empire, Men Behaving Badly, The Fast Show, Harry Enfield etc etc.
Guess I was pretty hosed from 'Deep in the Caribbean..'

The children kept calling my name over and over in the pool! Maaaaaarrrrrcoooo! Poooollllllloooooo! It drove me MAD!
I agree EMI had some funny moments, but to me that wasn't one. The minute I saw his name I knew there was going to be that joke. Too predictable and not that funny.

Yes, I feel the same way.
Personally, I think MI2 has the most fun jokes in it where I did laugh out loud.

I don't need others to laugh out loud. It's just that things seem more funny with others around.
It's the simple things that get me.
Blame my alternate forum upbringing. I'll sort it now...
