Favourite Telltale Games game and why
Hey Guys, since I don't know many people that play telltale games thought I'd start a discussion on here. Personally for me I'm stuck between the wolf among us and tales from the borderlands for my favourite telltale game. Really enjoyed the gritty and dark atmosphere to TWAU and just finished playing TFTB for a second time (its the free game this month on ps4 and what a game it is) and I really enjoyed the humour and characters in it. What's everybody else's favourite telltale game?

Tales from the Borderlands. I was never a fan of Borderlands franchise but this game is soo gold. The humor, the characters, the story, the choices, action etc.
Tales from the borderlands is my favorite telltale to date.
Good comedy
Unique dual protagonist dynamic
well written comedy
beautiful intros
excellent intro music
nice blend of interactive story and action
unique characters
diverse choice effect
nice customization feature
Hard to choose... Batman, Tales and Wolf are the best to date.
If I had to choose hm....
I would say Batman.
The Wolf Among Us
The Walking Dead Season One
I agree the dual protagonist dynamic was definitely a great aspect to the game and unique, made for a very interesting and engaging play-through!
The mystery of TWAU was great! Hopefully they release another game with a similar theme, crime and mystery suits the telltale storytelling technique
Batman is a great spiritual successor to it.
Honestly, I've favored every season-based game Telltale has put out since Walking Dead S1 with the exception of Batman and the later Walking Dead seasons. I don't think I've tried/watched Devil's Playhouse though, but that's in part because I don't like the art style of any character that isn't Sam or Max.
The Wolf Among Us and TWD Season 1.
Both were masterpieces.
Im sorry but this attitude towards games is ruining the industry, young'uns these days want to sit back and watch a game play itself. Is 5 minutes thinking time really too much effort for "gamers" these days? Why not just watch a movie or something
sam and max all the way
The Walking Dead: Season One. The story is engaging, the characters are very well-rounded, and it's dark, dramatic, and sad as fuck. I'm one of the very few people on these forums that really fucking enjoys the sequels as well, but they don't even compare to the first season.
the wolf among us, because it was my first telltale game
The Wolf Among Us, I already gave my reasons why in another thread so I'll repost them here, I hope you guys don't mind.
The Writing- Aside from the first episode of Back To The Future I haven't touched any of Telltale's classic titles released before The Walking Dead, so unless any old school Telltale fans speak up I'm making the case that The Wolf Among Us is the most well written title Telltale has ever produced. I can't recall a single flaw or plot hole (though I don't doubt that there are some nitpicks). Character motivations make sense no matter what you choose and the mystery is so masterfully set up. It constantly keeps you guessing and on your toes but when the truth is exposed it doesn't feel cheap or far fetched. It's the kind of reveal that makes you go, "Ah! It was so obvious! i should've known!" Brilliant writing all around.
The Artstyle-This game nails the comic book style. Character models are vibrant and the midnight purple color palette nicely complements the run down slums of New York.
Choices have impact- Of course, when I state this, I don't mean that the narrative is going to fly off in a wild direction based on your every decision, but TWAU does a great job on tailoring the narrative based on your choices. Scenes play out differently based on the order you end alive.
Tales From The Borderland is also incredibly good, I'd put it at a very close second. The Walking Dead S1 and 2 are both fantastic games as well, I'd place them at third and fourth respectively.
For me that would be The Wolf Among Us, no question about it.
Plus it might sound weird, but it helped me deal with depression more than anything in this world ever did. TWAU is a true gem to me.
The Walking Dead Season One and Tales from the Borderlands follow closely.
But I play Telltale games for their story and choices.
If I wanted difficulty, there are way more altrnatives. I see what you mean though.
Also, I like games with difficulty... When I am not up for their story, but gameplay only.
Why? I didn't get through even 10 minutes of TDPH because it felt soooo awkward.
Sorry if I sounded harsh.
The first two seasons of TWD and TWAU. I also loved Tales from the borderlands.
Hmm, I would've thought it'd make you even more depressed...
On a serious note, I know what you mean. Having a great game to play and look forward to definitely helps get you through the tough times in life.
There have been quit a few that cross my mind now and again as my favorites but I would have to say the new Guardians of the galaxy is very awesome.
For me personally one of my favourite things about Telltale games is that there is a lot of interaction with characters which differs from other story based games so I enjoy the hubs, but I can definitely understand wanting to get past them if your main reason for playing is the story.
Definitely agree with that, the artstyle made me absolutely love the opening credits to TWAU since it really suited the atmosphere and location of the game.
Game of Thrones
each character got good character development
great voice cast
emotional ending
choices haves a bigger impact then any other telltale game
1) The Walking Dead (Season 1)
The characters were extremely well written and belivable.
The choices left me questioning myself long after I finished the game.
Dialogue choices for Lee were good. I felt a strong connection to the character because I felt like I could say and act the same way I would in real life.
The ending nearly made me cry. It's up there with the endings of the Last of Us and Red Dead Redemption as one of the best, most emotional climaxes to a video game ever.
2) Tales from the Borderlands
The characters, humor, and writing in general are top notch.
3) The Wolf Among Us
An excellent protagonist, an enticing mystery, and a darkly intriguing world.
The Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: Season Two.
I can't choose between those two. The first one made me cry, but I liked the season two's story more.
Great ending, definitely one of the most emotional endings I've ever seen. Just curious since you mentioned it, which zombie-esque game do you prefer The Last of Us or Walking Dead Season 1? (I know they're very different types of games, but just curious if you prefer one to the other)
The best Telltale game for me is TWD season 1, I feel like it perfectly nailed the feeling of needing to survive, and the character plots were driven by this fact, character motivations and stuff were also very clearly defined, as opposed to alot of characters in A New Frontier
However, the Telltale game I personally enjoyed the most is TWD season 2, alot of people are gonna disagree with my reason, but I found that playing as Clementine offered a very interesting perspective on the world, instead of being a strong male adult, you were a fragile and sometimes scared little kid, (albeit sometimes probably does stuff she shouldnt be able to, but it was never a problem for me, but I know some people think that), I also really enjoy young female survivors in apocalypse scenarios if that makes sense? characters like Clementine from TWD and Ellie from The Last of Us are some of my favorite characters in video games
Honorable mention to Tales From the Borderlands, because playing as 2 different characters was super interesting, and switching between the two characters way of thinking on the fly was interesting, Fiona is also one of my favorite characters in Telltale games
It's hard to say, honestly. They are two of my favorite games, but if I had to pick I would go with The Last of Us. TLoU was longer and gave you more time with Joel and Ellie than you got with Lee and Clementine.
However, the Walking Dead has the benefit of letting you make most of the dialogue and decisions for Lee, making him feel like he was you. So at the end when Lee dies saving Clem, it felt like I had just died saving Clem.
But then TLoU has awesome gameplay to go with the awesome story, where as TWD is all story and no gameplay. So if I could only have one, it would be TLoU.
