Celebrity deaths that shocked you.

  • For me, it was Jim French. He played Bill in the left 4 dead series and Father Grigori in half life 2. I know it's random but he played my favorite video game character of all time and I was sad when I heard that he died in December.

  • Or maybe George Romero.

  • Alan Rickman, Robbie William and Carrie Fisher. The first two made me cry and Carrie death just leaved me shocked.
Robbie William movies/comedies my brother and I watch in the 90's and love. The fact that it was suicide was just awful but like everyone sometimes the only way to deal with depression is to put a mask on. I've been there its awful.

Alan Rickman I grew up loving the happy potter films and this guy had a massive carrier. He went into all these genres. RESPECT man massive respect for him and Carrie Fisher she had a hard life and she help a lot of people with mental illness. She past the light onwards to help.

  • Actually shocking?
    Chris Benoit and Robin Williams

There are others that were sadder to me, but those two were shocking enough that I was just left waiting for answers as more questions piled up.

  • Charles Manson.

  • I also want to mention Chester Bennington, lead singer of Linkin Park, he died in 2017. Another lost soul - I great sadness washed over me when I heard the news. there was tough times when I was teenage the only way I could get out of it was to listening to mucsic and them being one of the only bands that got a hold of me. Linkin Park is still one of my fav bands of all time and Chester's beautiful vocals I will miss allways.

  • Just realized that Dolores O'Riordan of The Cranberries hasn't been mentioned yet.

This song always makes me cry, but it's worse now.

  • thank for the post I forgot she had died. I agreed but the song was always sad for me cause to the meaning behind it is battling with inner demons in the war time and brutal aftermath, that or conflict that leads and shapes a person from a PSTD moment and effects them for a long time/rest of their lives. Both are tragic cases. I throught the band had broken up? that's not the case they put out more cds after their breakup in 2003?

  • They reunited in 2009 for a tour, put out the "Roses" album in 2012, and then "Something Else" in 2017. It wasn't as popular as their 1990s stuff. I know other bands have managed to recover after the death of their lead singer, but I have the feeling that's the end.

  • One more follow-up. The Cranberries have announced that there's a special edition album coming out to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their first album, and then there is one more album where Dolores had already recorded the vocals, that they are looking to release in 2019.

  • For me the first was Heath Ledger.. I'm never going to forget the moment I found out about it. I had been rooting for him, so happy about his Joker role that he would finally make his biggest breakthrough and then he's just.. gone, before the movie even came out. I remember being so shocked at school I couldn't pay attention in class at all. First time I cried because of someone I never even knew. And I cried at the movie theater, didn't even care about other people.

The second one was Chester Bennington. Can't say I was surprised.. so many of their songs were like suicide notes. His death hit me even harder, cried for days, even weeks, months after. I feel like I talked too much about it, annoyed or worried people.. he had been through so much I really hoped he'd make it. I was just so happy to know he's still alive despite it all. Not anymore.. and it was so soon after Chris Cornell's death, and they had been friends.

Yes, I get very emotional thinking about this.

  • Robin Williams and Alan Rickman deaths were shocking for me.

  • Alan Rickman was sudden, his family didn't mention he was sick and in the hosipital until he died. So why they reported it, a lot people were confused that he was in the hospital in the first place.

  • No official cause of death has been given, but I've heard he struggled with alcohol. Not saying that this is actually what happened, but I think it's pretty likely that he died from alcohol poisoning, especially at such a young age.

  • Verne Troyer Has Died Aged 49 (1969–2018)

  • I was quite shocked to hear he might have committed suicide, is that true? He was a great actor in whatever he happened to be in, not to mention his appearances in ads for World of Warcraft and the like.

  • I only saw his last health update a week ago, so waking up this morning and finding out he'd died was like getting kicked in the nuts. I kinda drifted away from his content in the past few years but I was a fan for a long time and the fact that he's now gone just feels wrong. Gaming lost someone really special today.

John Peter Bain, I fucking salute you.

Popular YouTube video-game critic Totalbiscuit has passed at 33. Fucking cancer. https://mobile.twitter.com/Totalbiscuit/status/999787845127634944 https://mobile.twitter.com/GennaBain/status/999785407087808512

  • That's terrible. I didn't follow his content that often but I admired how he stood up for his rights as a gamer and likely inspired a lot of people to do the same.

  • I like to think he made of us a lot more willing to be critical of the hobby we love. His passing hasn't sunk in properly for me yet. Even though I haven't followed his content closely in a long time I knew he was always around. I knew when he said the cancer was back that his chances were slim, but even when I heard that he was stopping treatment I was certain a miracle would happen. I knew there would eventually be a day when there'd be no new videos from him again, but that day should have been decades from now.

  • What really hits me with TotalBiscuit's passing is that only 3 days prior he wrote that things started looking up. https://mobile.twitter.com/Totalbiscuit/status/998764067614609408

Goes to show how quickly it all can just change. R.I.P. John.

  • Agreed. I’m also pretty disgusted some people are happy he is dead because they didn’t agree with his ideas and criticism.

  • It was the same with Carrie Fisher, after her heart attack on the plane saw her recover I thought she was going to be ok, so it was a sucker punch for her to pass away just a couple days later.
