Is it too late to change global warming/climate change?

I know that I should stop being wasteful but I think that it is too late to stop climate change. We have already had a huge hurricane in Texas, and Florida and Puerto Rico. When you have three record breaking hurricanes in one month, its too late to stop them from happening. So why should I stop wasting water and electricity if it is too late to stop climate change?

This is going to sound lame and I have no excuse for it, but I actually study environmental science and I can tell you that from what I’ve learned, it’s definitely not too late to make a change. Sure, things may seem bad now, but think about how they’re going to be in further generations if no change is made. It’ll be absolute terror because you can’t take a bad situation and add it to a bad situation and expect it to be good.

  • Right now..it seems all we can do is blunt the effects...the age of the super storms that people scoffed at seemingly is here. The sizes of the hurricanes that hit in the US and Gulf as well as Puerto Rico are massive...nearly twice the size of normal cat 5s...therefore doing more damage because time on land is for longer.

It is no longer time for finger pointing...but if people start to become more mindful of what it is they are doing...and this trend becomes mainstream...it helps. GM has announced a plan for replacing internal combustion engines and going electric....(This is all at once praise worthy and scary as a company would only do this on the scale they are talking if they were somehow privy to bad news)

All you can do is just try to do better...think about solar...wind...agitate for Thorium reactors....hope for a breakthrough in fusion.

  • No its not. And you dont have to be an expert about it since scientists still working on fixing it so we can certainly say that hope is still alive. However, we should accept the fact that damage is big on climate. Because ever since the Industrial Revolution(early 1800s), global warming slowly started to show its signs. It makes nearly 200 year so we can describe the situation with this sentence : World is keep taking the beat almost 200 year. But organizations like Greenpeace are working on some projects that will cure the wounds that appeared on Earth. You can join these projects and do some good for environment. Dont think that your move is not gonna change anything. It will. In Turkey, its not easy the organize these projects and I would join if it was easily possible. But you should do it.

  • Hurricanes have nothing to do with climate change.

  • Yeah that website is known to be biased and it flies in the face of NASA's own research that shows correlation between climate change and the strength of storms...the warmer water has led to larger storms.
