Guilty! The controls are a little off, but I love it anyway.

I have seen worse controls on the PC. And the game is excellent.

I own the game, but it played really funnily on Vista so never managed to get very far on it. :/

I got it some years ago for the PS2 and absolutely loved it! I especially liked collecting photos of exotic animals and the likes. Combat was a bit weird sometimes, but never unplayable. Overall a very good game.

Fantastic game. I hear the other day the sequel got axed, and I'm depressed.

I've read a lot of good things about it but never got a chance to play it, might get the PS2 version if I can find it for like $10 or so.

I'd rather not have a sequel that is so bad the (presumably) correct decision was to cancel the title. The original game stands for itself and that's better than a diluted series.

I'd love to see a prequel of prequels though! Just to see Jades upbringing and all that!

Somehow that would make more sense as a movie, rather than a game. To me, at least! :)

I'm playing through it right now, actually. Currently stuck and frustrated in the Slaughterhouse level, though.

Did the sequel reallty get cancelled? That sucks! I heard it was pretty much the only reason Michel Ancel hasn't left Ubisoft. :(

The reason it was cancelled has nothing to do with its quality. In fact Ubisoft's management still hasn't admitted that they were the ones who screwed up and their poor timing and marketing was why it didn't sell.

They pulled the plug (if they did indeed) most likely because Ancel was making another game as awesome as the first and they figured that wouldn't do as well as another mini-game fest on Wii. They keep screwing over their best talent again and again and it's not right.

Agreed! And so does this, it's pretty funny too which shows that the game hasn't lost any of it's character or humour!... Judging by this anyway, and the car looks cool as well!

Of course Ubisoft chooses money over a quality game that many people wouldn't even hear about. This is one reason why I was surprised Ancel himself did not do anything about the situation since he seems to love the game, not the profit. Anyway, it looks like the game is back on track, so maybe he actually did change their minds and that was the discussion the reporter (or whoever it was) misunderstood.

This is beyond Good & Evil 2? If the whole game is like this then I will pass. I hated Mirror's Edge.

The tragedy here is that there isn't anything un-mainstream about BG&E though. It actually sold quite well, but they slashed the price to $20 2-3 months after it came out (which was in the middle of the holiday rush) so they didn't make any money. If they had just released it in Feb. to begin with and hyped it up a bit it would have done so much better.

I loved Beyond Good & Evil but absolutely hated the level design. All three stages were built around the thematic of the "fires of industry"(a lot of metal, greens and browns) which had been done to death in games long before that. Still hoping that the second title shall come to fruition.

not true, it sold awfully, more copies were sold used than new.

    Was that a joke?

Nope, maybe a slight exaggeration, more people have picked it up used. It is a similar case for the original Bioshock. The re-release for PC on online distribution systems will have sold copies, but not enough to consider it very profitable. Saying this Beyond good and evil is one of my favourite games, it is just a pity it didn't sell well.

I just thought it would be hard to sell a game second hand if it hadn't been sold first hand before.

Nope it's often done. The wear between users is not usually noticeable, if you are the sort who often buys used games and trades them in why not trade in used games. Particularly with rarer games. Look at Panzer Dragoon Saga.

Didn't think any games (beside collector's titles like Panzer Dragoon) could be sold more than once before the value drops too low to sell them again.

Anyway, I just bought it on GoG, along with Settlers2. And darn you if it isn't any good ;)

It's fantastic (not sure how it has aged). More of the point I was getting at is that you don't have to say that you got the game second hand when you bought it.

Just back from my first round. Looks promising. The controls on the PC are a bit irritating, but nothing too bad.

The biggest problem was that the vertex shaders somehow conflict with my driver version which lead to all kinds of strange effects. But after a bit of fiddling all is well and I have to say that the environments are beautifully designed. Almost as good as "The Settlers 2" :p

    ...Bioshock sold extremely well.

But anyway, I have always meant to look into BG&E but have never quite gotten around to it.

Did anyone else see the cutscene at the end of the credits?

No. Because I never was able to beat the boss.

The more people talk about BG&E the more I can't believe I've still not gotten around to playing it yet. I mean it's sitting right there on my shelf, still waiting for me to open it and play...

What would a BG&E game be like made by the Telltale team if they were to get the rights? Opinions?

Horrendous. Telltale should stick to what they know.

Heard about this game two years ago now I think, thought it sounded interesting but didn't think any more about it till I saw it on Steam. Bought it and tried it out, it didn't recognise my graphics card drivers, so I again put it off again, until I decided "What the hell" and played it despite the graphical glitches, and must say I kind of fell in love with it. Finished it, with a taste of "But I wanted more!" in the same way you finish a great drink but still want more of it, and so played it to death. Then left it for quite some time until recently when I was trying to get a new gamepad working on my PC and decided to test it out on BGE. Turns out the game doesn't recognise gamepads, and so turned it off in disgust, only to find myself finishing it again the follow day after playing through it all again.

Can't really describe it, but somehow the game just came together for me and works. I'm gushing and fanboying all over the place so I'll stop now before I embarass myself further! :D

I'm sure that most of you know about Gamespot's All Time Greatest Game Hero contest and know that Guybrush lost to a man(?) who rides a horse and can "kill 16 collosi". We are all very disappointing but it's all in the past now and we all know who the Greatest Game Hero is anyway; we don't statistics and votes from people most likely under 12 years old! Anyway, now it's Jade's turn in the contest and she is currently up against Samus Aran (whom I have never heard of) and she is losing badly! So how about we get some votes in for her! Jade is an original, charismatic, funny and extremely cool character and deserves to win this round or at least not lose by the amount she is at the moment, get voting!

I don't want to get your hopes up but Jade doesn't stand a chance. Not against Samus.

Edit: Oh man, just checked the scores. Jade doesn't even have 15% of the votes.
