I'm a cosplay nerd and I'd love to see pictures of this event. Heck, I think Morgan has a lovely costume just waiting for the right cosplayer- go find an attractive lady and convince her to go with you!

You DON'T have to be a girl to dress like Morgan Le Flay, but it helps. :P

It will take me some time til i can post pictures of the whole cosplay again,i desidet to redraw the S on Guybrushs coat in blue, i made them in a brown ton like they are on the artwork, but blue looks better, i already washed out the brown lines but here are 3 pictures i made right now:
    http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/7647/guyfront.jpg

    http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/8166/guyback.jpg

    http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/4311/guybooty.jpg

i acctualy want to redo some stuff:
the boots, i dont like seams i made i can do that better
and the Yellow ribbon on the sleeves i wannt to make it more like the one used ingame...

and i still have to make the brown throusers

I think this is probably a better idea than the hook, because it will make it much easier for people (who have played TMI) to recognise which pirate you are suppose to be.

well, the problem may be that the con you're visiting is mainly anime/manga themed..
    ..still, nice outfit.

I'm a bit of a cosplay geek and in anticipation of Tales I dressed as Guybrush (MI2 style) at a convention earlier this year. I can tell you that hardly anyone will recognise you and anyone that asks who you are will say "Oh...right" and pretend they know what you're talking about when you answer.
So my answer to that is - accessories, I think you really need things identifiable with Guybrush. A rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle, the eyeball necklace and something I saw recently on Telltale's twitter - the giant swab. A sword also helps as does someone walking next to you dressed as Elaine.

i never cosplay but i am currently growing my hair out to look (i hope) like guybrushes hair xD... people keep asking me if i'm going for a founding fathers look (like jefferson, etc.) and i respond with "no i'm guybrush threepwood mighty pirate"... i get sooooo many blank stares, i'm just waiting for someone to actually know what i'm talking about xD

I started growing a pigtail just a month before Telltale presented ToMI.. Now my hair is very Guybrushy!

Yeah, they usually don't know anyone outside from Japanese Games and shows, it's sad but it's true. My friend went to Acen 06 as the green latern and everyone just stared at him blankly.

i know but iam a huge anime fan so.... i feel at home at anime cons
and aleast a few people know MI, so i dont look like a total geekwood^^

btw my first con was the aninite2006 in the WUK in vienna. and i still curse my self for not going to the MI:Revival party 2008 witch was at the same location, i just couldnt motivate myself to go there alone.....

but hey it seemed to help MI is alive again

Monkey Island as far as I'm concerned, will never die as long as we exist.

AWESOME! I love how it looks, kind of Civil War-ish.

I always wanted to cosplay as Elaine... heh. I might have to bully my blonde best mate into dressing as Guybrush.. he's tall and lanky and has the scraggly beard for it whoo!

I want a rubber chicken with a pully in the middle! I actually used to own a rubber chicken, I wonder what happened to it... *ponders*
  • edited September 2009

Yes, great job. Not much more to say. You're living the dream man, you are Guybrush and at your conventions you can run around with your sword and tell everyone you're a mighty pirate and they'll believe you as they run around dressed as Pikachu screaming Pika Pika Pika Pi!

MUAHAHAHA! Guyrbush's hair is actually more curly, wavey than it is straight.

Seriously though I honestly don't get the convention thing but you did a great job with your costume.
