Honestly, I'm starting to wonder why we even bother with 1 out of 10 scales when 7 is considered the average/disappointing range. Seriously,… more in what world is 7/10 supposed to be just 'average'? I am pretty sure that's what 5/10 is for. You know, the number right in the middle. The one that is completely neutral, for this exact reason.
Also, just to put this in perspective: IGN gave Ties That Bind a higher rating than Done Running.
While most of these reviews are very positive, the thing that has me worried is that Telltale is going to look at reviews like IGN (the most recognized of these review publications) and GameInformer and take their "advice." Let's face it, while most of the feedback here on the forums is positive, you can't put that in a trailer.

If they don't get those positive reviews from a place like IGN, they might pander to them, which means we're right back where we started...short episodes, focus on action, less character development, pretty much everything wrong with ANF.
Telltale, please, do not listen to IGN. Keep doing what you're doing and follow in the footsteps of this first episode.
Yeah, I can imagine the constant expository and world(?)building would bore some people. Not to mention that it is indeed 2 1/4 hours long.
The Gameinformer one is a bit of a surprise though.

A 7/10 for me usually just means decent or good. Average is usually a 5 or a 6. That's how I judge things at least.

Gamespot gave it a 8.0 and praised the new gameplay features finally
Someone decided to put makeup on the Cabin Group.
The only difference between IGN reviews and random Youtube comments is that one of the two is getting paid to say stupid shit.
