Thoughts on Aasim

I thought Aasim was one of the most complex, interesting, and intelligent characters of the new group thus far (minus the one moment of negligence that almost got him killed) - in addition to Tenn.

Is anyone else hoping to see more of him? As dismissive and rude as he can be, I liked how calculating he was when it came to hunting - and he also had taken note of Marlon constantly making the safe zones smaller & thus limiting their resources. If I had to ship Clementine with a male character, I would be more inclined to ship her with Aasim vs. Louis because in my mind Clementine works better with someone who is more reserved, mature, and calculating. Louis was annoying me personally when he was batting at the Walker for sport while Aasim actually wanted to focus on finding food for the group - and when Louis wanted to kill the bunny to fulfill instant gratification for food vs. Aasim being more logical and survival-savvy with saying that they should wait for the bunny to grow. She would personally benefit more by being with someone who has just as sharp survival instincts as she does!

Regardless of if he just remains a comrade or a potential love interest for Clem, I hope we see more of him and learn more about his past!

  • I agree that he gets stuff done and he is useful to the group but I definitely don’t ship him and clem I ship clem with Louis but I hope we do see his character develop more

  • I ship Clem with Violet. Though I have to agree with what you said. So far I'd like to get to know every one of these characters, all of them have been interestings. Even with only the short interactions to each one, they all seemed interesting. Especially Aasim, Louis, Violet, and Tenn. So yeah I hope to see more of Aasim also.

  • Agreed! I like the thought of Clem with Violet the most - but it I had to pick a male character for Clem it would be Aasim. :-)

  • I think Aasim will make a fine minion for Clem, he seems eager to get his hands dirty and I am ready to help him reach that goal.

  • I like him as a friend for Clem, but I'm sadly not expecting him to be around much longer so she's not allowed to get too attached! lol

  • I really liked how the hunting scene made you choose between the two ideologies...Live for Today, or prepare for the future. For a character that wasn't even mentioned in the buildup for the Game, I really like him

  • I can say without a shred of doubt that Aasim is my favorite out of all the kids so far. Seems the most aware of their precarious situation, is actively pushing for a solution to that, is focused on his work because he seems to understand the stakes... he's just generally great so far. Plus, the whole sustainability over an immediate reward deal with the baby rabbit and Louis... he's just really been 100% when it comes to making good calls. Smart characters are the best characters.

Sucks that he seems like a minor character though. I honestly wouldn't mind him as a third romantic option.

  • Actually really liked him. Which was kinda surprising. Also his voice actor is real good

  • A solid number four with me.

  • I liked him. I don't think he will survive long... sadly. It seems like every single group just dwindles down till there's only two left and we all know that's gonna be Clem and AJ.

  • Aasim = smart Omid

  • He flew right under the radar. Hardly noticed him. Maybe we'll see more of him and Javier Jr. in the next episode.

  • My favourite character thus far. Unfortunately, his whole ideology, which was what endeared me so much to him, is like a giant red flag for his survivability just because of irony.

Hoping he lasts and gets more development, though.

  • He'll be that character everyone will grow to love and then they Luke his ass.

  • It's a great character and I feel he'll be useful to us in the future. He's the one planning ahead, always having a plan B if something goes wrong. The opposite of Louis in fact who lives only in the moment. I think he has highest chances of surviving in a long-term.

  • very mature, smart character and sees the bigger picture

  • I ship Aasentine.

  • Aasim was well written for his limited screen time. I hope we get to see more of that in the future!

  • Of the secondary cast, Aasim is definitely my favorite, and I also like him more than both Tenn and Violet so far. I am much more in line with his philosophy of having multiple different plans and playing the long game, especially when compared to Louis' "live for the day, tomorrow doesn't exist" philosophy. And now that Marlon is dead, he might be seen as a possible successor and become the new leader. I really do want to see more of him as the series progresses because I really do like his character so far.

  • I love Mitch lol idk why. I also get the feeling Willy is his younger brother who was only a baby during the outbreak.

    Mitch > Ass-im

  • I get the feeling Aasim was suspecting something with Marlon's shrinking safe zone. He knew something was up.

  • They stopped doing that recently. In Michonne, Paige and both of Sam's brothers survived no matter what alongside Michonne, Pete, and Siddiq, who had plot armor. Oak and Sam can also survive depending on your choices. In ANF, Eleanor always lives on top of Javi and Clem, and same with Jesus for the same reasons as Michonne, Pete, and Siddiq. Gabe, Kate, David, Conrad, and Dr. Lingard can also determinantly survive the whole season.

  • You get more with him if you go Hunting.
Otherwise, he just seems like the guy who takes issue with Marlon's leadership-.

  • Definitely an interesting character. I'm curious to see what he's written down and how much he has documented since the outbreak, he might have the current date and time which would be a first

  • He just seems like a bland extra with a few speaking likes to insert conflict.

I really want him to be the next leader of the group, but I'm afraid he can't manage the other kids as he is an introvert, he is more like an advisor-type rather than a leader-type. However, I view him as the most capable as one rather than other kids.

We didn't know much about Mitch, Omar, Willy, and Ruby. Tennesse is obviously not suitable as a leader, Louis with his 'living for the day' philosophy is also bad for the group, Violet is more of an introvert than Aasim and she doesn't exactly have a plan for the group either, thus the only options left are Clem and Aasim. I don't want Clem to become the leader as she only knows the group for a couple days and vice versa. :/

  • I think Aasim is my favorite of all the kids at the school. He's level headed, future planning, a good survivor. I'd like to see him as a possible love interest for Clem. I feel like they'd make a good survivor couple/team.

  • I still remember the time before the episode release when some people believed this guy was Gabe from ANF. :D

  • It's obviously gonna be Clem, though. She led the food gathering op at the train station and not only brought back everyone alive, she also brought back several days worth of food, food that any of the other kids would have just left there out of fear. She also showed herself to be an alpha during the whole confrontation with Marlon, calling him out on his shit, rallying people behind her. They're all gonna fall in behind her. The only ones that might not immediately fall in line are Ruby and Mitch. We don't know enough about Mitch to know his personality and Ruby seems like the type to argue about it just because, but they'll fall in line eventually.

  • As I said, the only problem with Clem is the group only know her for 2 days at most. Do you really want to be led by a person you just met rather than your friends? Sure, we all deeply know Clem but the group don't...

Yes but again, Clem has already shown the kids that she's a capable leader and has the courage to step up. Unless any of the kids had aspirations of taking Marlon's job from him, they're gonna fall in behind the girl that has already stepped up and proved she gets shit done.

That's obviously what the door is open for, though.

  • That's the saddest part. Other than Clem, Marlon is the most capable leader, for real.

  • You know, I gotta say, I much prefer Assim and Kate's brand of pragmatism to that of the likes of Jane or if he even counts David.

  • Legend has it Mitch originally went back to the city to find his family and Marlon went along with him to help. They found Mitch's parents as walkers but Marlon spotted Baby Willy, Mitch's brother, hidden inside a dumpster, unscathed. When they returned to the school, Marlon discovered all the adults left or died from the walkers. Marlon rallied the remaining kids under his lead. Pre-outbreak, Mitch was one of Marlon's good friends but he joined the boarding school after Louis did. He is satisfied with Marlon's leadership and believes he has done right by the survivors up until the revelation but is regretting calling him a dick and giving him flak for what he did.
Imagine that! I hope we can find out a lot more about all the schoolers in episode 2.

  • I'm currently making clem get with violet, but if the chance arises to be closer with Aasim I think I'll take it since I'm pretty sure there's a high chance Violet will see her old girlfriend again as Minnie wasn't actually killed off she was given away so Violet would probably leave clem to be with Minnie again

  • Omg, David can survive?

  • Aasim is great and if Clem were to take over as the leader, he's definitely someone you'd want to consult with. I don't see him as a potential leader though. He seems too self-focused to be able to manage a group. As in he doesn't seem like the type who could manage his surroundings as well as he could manage himself and/or a small core. He already can't control or be bothered with Louis.

Thing is, Aasim and Louis are on two extremes and both have a point. I think it'd do Aasim some good to find a way to have some fun too to relieve the stress. And it'd do Louis just as good to take things more seriously. Not everything has to be a joke. Hopefully, common ground can be found between them.
