Elaine vs Morgan

When and if they come to blows, which one would win?
And why?

My money's on Elaine - Morgan is just a wannabe pirate compared to Elaine :p

I don't know it seems like a tough one, my bet would have to go for Elaine, I mean spending all those years on melee x amount of years fending off LeChuck, I think that it would an epic fight, but I have to go with elaine.

I like Elaine in the first two games, but I can't help feel that her familiarity just ruins her appeal: at first she's attractive, seductive, feisty, and always two steps ahead of everyone else (including Guybrush). In Curse she's still like this for the first few minutes, but then suddenly turns into a stereotypical damsel-in-distress who is suddenly swooning over Guybrush every second. The Escape team tried to make her more hard-to-get (which is her appeal) by having her be the "dominant" one in their relationship, but this just came off as her being a control freak who no man would stay married for for more than a few minutes (still slightly better than her Curse portrayal, though).

She's not that bad in Tales, still a step ahead of everyone but not annoying like in Escape, but I still feel she's become too familiar and boring. A governor's daughter is mysterious, unattainable, attractive because she's so out of your league, and even when you succeed she dumps you before the next game starts. But a wife is just... a wife. Morgan's line about "She never lets me do any pillaging" made me realise just how much she's holding him down, particularly in his more confident Tales persona. Morgan would be a far more interesting match.

So, the answer is: Elaine in the first two games, Morgan afterwards.

    Morgan is better than Elaine.

Elaine is meant to be annoying in TOMI though.

Elaine!!!! I LOVE her voice. Definitely not american. British language at it's best. ELAINE!!!!

She is much more cut-throat than Elaine and a lot hotter too

I Vote Morgan, She is definitely an upgrade for Guybrush.

Personally I think Morgan's CHARACTER is cool but her voice just sounds like a college girl to me. Not pirate at all in the acting.

She isn't a pirate, She specifically calls herself a "Pirate Hunter" she is kinda like a bounty hunter, only just for catching pirate scum. She's like a rookie american bounty hunter catching up with "Osama Bin Laden". She is totally in the know about the Notoriously Mighty Pirate Guybrush Threepwood.

Who would win in a fight? Morgan. I mean we haven't ever seen Elaine in any kind of fight at all so who knows if she is skilled in that area at all? Also, like many of the previous posts have said, Elaine really lost her edge after LeChuck's Revenge.

Elaine in the first few minutes of Curse was fending off LeChuck while having fairly casual conversation. Granted it was more or less equal until Guybrush bungled his way to the rescue, but seeing as LeChuck is canonically the greatest pirate in the world, we can assume that Elaine's pretty good.

Well I was referring to hand-to-hand combat, but you are correct.

Was it that obvious? Damn...I need to be more subtle.

Yeah, she was awesome in that first minute. Just not for the rest of the game...

    "Guybrush, what's happened?"
"Are we going to be alright?"
    "Oh, Guybrush!"
"What's happened to my personality, Guybrush?"

There is enough love to go around for both the lovely ladies.

But seriously though, Morgan FTFW! :p

Elaine was in a swordfight at the start of EMI. Furthermore, she WAS going to have a swordfight with LeChuck's minions in CMI.

If you hadn't noticed my opinion of Curse, I actually agree with you 100%. It's called selectively choosing the evidence that supports what you're saying. ;)

I'm not sure I like where this is going... Are you talking about who would win in a fight now, or who would be a better wife for Guybrush?

It's pretty darn obvious that Morgan admires and idolizes Guybrush, and Guybrush was flirting with her in a way. But still, Morgan's just there for the job, and she even points out the fact that Guybrush is married to Elaine (even though the way she spits out Elaine's name makes me wonder if there's a bit of jealousy on her side). And Guybrush was obviously just flirting with her to prevent her from doing any harm to him. I'm sure he wouldn't leave Elaine for Morgan, as he lies about Morgan being a woman to Elaine, so she won't be jealous, but he himself is jealous about Elaine and LeChuck spending time together.

But now, to return to the actual topic: Who would win in a fight, Elaine or Morgan? I'd say Elaine, simply because Morgan uses Guybrush's fighting techniques, and Elaine could definitely defeat Guybrush in a fight. :D

While my wording may be off,
the wishing well in episode 1 turns Guybrush into LeChuck when he wishes to be the mightiest pirate in the world, or something along those lines.

They specialise in different areas; where one is strong, the other isn't. Ultimately, they perfectly compliment each other as the pirate lasses of the high seas...

Elaine's highly resourceful and cunning, capable with cannons and ship combat, and accurate with small firearms. Plus, she has a mean right hook, as the no doubt now mishaped left side of Guybrush's skull testifies. Morgan's an astute swords(wo)man, probably more agile and athletic than Elaine, and judging by the nature of her re-appearances, good at stealth too.

If the two team up, they could conquer zee Vorld!

I guess they could 'team' up and forget about Guybrush :p

He's the mightiest pirate, buddy. Get used to it.

But Elaine, simply because if your the second-mightiest pirate's wife, you'd totally know how to kick ass and chew bubblegum-even when you're all outta gum.

Save this discussion until after Chapter 3. This one is all about Morgan character development.

    Ooo. Awesome

    And Frogacuda would know.....

In a fight... Morgan would definitely win... She's so awesome!

But for Guybrush's affections, Elaine would win provided she doesn't do anything she shouldn't with GP LeChuck.
