damn i feel really bad for saying those things about TTG. The truth is i really didn't mean it like that. It's because I'm sad a little angry the whole week because of a girl. I guess i just kinda let that out on TTG.
In reality i really think they are a good team. And the only reason they didn't want to make the episodes before that is that they didn't want to let us fans wait for the games so they just started making it. I still don't think they have dead lines but they are trying really hard to make an episode every month.
I mean this wouldn't be hard for a normal game. But this is MI we're talking about. Make new riddles, new puzzles, a lot of options, interesting facts, add humor, add a story, make animations,... and all that in one month. Look at every episode. They made new characters, it was funny as hell, we had a looot of fun in it... and all that in one month. I really think this is a brilliant team.

I think there are some misconceptions here, they don't make an episode each month, they have been in production on Monkey Island since some time last summer I would guess, of course they are still working on it, polishing and finalizing everything up until the last second of release, but it's not like they only start work on the second episode when the first one is finished, they do have SOME of each episode in the can, at least conceptually, before they start the season.

Just so you know: my post was just to answer a question - no TTG criticism or whatever in there.

I think what you said in more relevant than his there anyway. MI is the current series being released, so its release schedule is more relevant than Strong Bad's, which was years ago.

They may have grown in staff size since then but the quality of the games has risen, making it even more vital to fine-tune everything. Of course the production cycle is going to take longer than back in the day of Strong Bad.

Settle down, I hope this is supposed to be a joke. It's kinda hard to tell. I'm with tbm1986, I think Geypi's actions can easily be forgiven given the circumstances.

This week we will know the release date of chapter 4 for sure, because every month they used to announce it one week before release. :D
My bet is that il will be out on the 27th or the 29th.

They release games one a month so of course they have deadlines! Probably more deadlines than 99% of other developers have.

Development is not an exact science, things can take longer or be quicker than expected. What should they do, release it unfinished?

Its not like any of their games have ever missed a deadline is it? People are acting like it is late.

    5th episode: 29th of December

So... you want them to work through Christmas weekend to achieve this one?

I imagine they'll want to have it out the way by then, and enjoy a nice relaxing Christmas and New Year break. Nothing gets done that week, crazy time to have a deadline. If it's not out by Christmas then expect 2010.

I just finished chapter 4 and it´s awesome! The best chapter yet, I don´t know how the finale could top that!

So funny how Guybrush is brought to court in Flotsam and he is charged with dozens of crimes by pretty much everybody he has tricked in some way throughout all MI-games.:D
My favorite scene is where the voodoo-lady makes contact to the netherworld and the dead male manatee accuses Guybrush he had deliberately lured him into a date with the killer-female.^^

Yeah, that scene was awesome! But I like the scene when the fat treasure hunting guy realizes that his dark ninja Dave is actually a fake and freaks out... ha ha ha.

Years ago? Back in the day? They only produced one series between MI and SBCG4AP, and that was Wallace and Gromit. SBCG4AP was less than a year before the start of TMI. How is showing their release pattern of a similar game last year not relevant to their current year?

I think you looked like a kittycat when you withdrew what you stated. You had a few points, then you just backed down and blamed it on ur hormones. Didn't your father tell you a man never backs down? Even if it's obvious you're wrong, you can never ever admit that. And you're prepared to die for it.

    It's really lucky I'm only a monkey.

Indeed, alittle rule by force never killed any countries, kingdoms, or empires.
Either way I'm all for it:D

I'm so hard up for Monkey Island at this point I'd be happy with a compromise like they did when releasing Battlestar Galactica on DVD. Monkey Island 4.0 may only take 2 hours to complete but it would get rid of the shakes... or maybe I just contracted the Pox while replaying Launch of the Screaming Narwhal.

Sorry, I had it in my head Strong Bad was released in 2007. And I said the TMI release dates to date are more relevant than the Strong Bad ones (1 for being the same game and 2 for being the most recent). At no point did I say the SBCG4AP release dates were irrelevant.

Um, controlling one's emotions and spousal abuse kinda fall under different categories. That's kind of like calling someone who watches porn a rapist. It doesn't make any degree of sense at all.

    Gah enough idiocy you guys.

WHERE THE HECK IS EPISODE 4?!?!?!?!?!

I think we deserve a release date now we're at the 20th of the month.

Wonder if LaChuck will return to evil? Will Morgan sell her "hero" off for a reward? Will Guybrush become De Singe's new "lab rat"? Will Elaine be cured of the "Pox Of LaChuck"? Will the monkeys be returned safely to their homes? Will Murrey come back for another chapter?

Ok I'll stop for now. It's making me drool (you may want to wipe your mouth too - the left side)! I've really enjoyed the Monkey Island Games over the years (Can we call them "MIG's" for short?). I only missed Monkey Island 2: LaChuck's Revenge (1991) when it came out. Has anyone here played this one? How was it? Thumb up? Thumb down? Thumb sideways?

Stay tuned for Chapters 4 and 5. I can't wait either! I lost out on LaChuck's Revenge. Don't YOU miss out on these.

If you haven't played MI2, just go download it off the net and run it through ScummVM. You can get it off sites like emuparadise.

But the second the special edition is announced, you have to buy it.

Definitly a thumbs up. After Curse and Tales it's my favourite monkey island. The final "level" and the end kind of suck, but the rest of the game is awesome.

    Highly possible spoiler:
Sources (or is that voodoo power?) told me that we will have a reunion with a person (known from all previous MI games) in the upcoming episode (last letter in the name is n). And we might be seeing some jealousy in court! (oh kinky!) Do you know how many pieces of silver Guybrush is worth? Wait, isn't a life worth more than money? Not for Guybrush..

And much more importantly, When is the release date for the 'I wonder what happens in.....' video. :p

    ....oh god.
A character ending with n... Stan. I got a hunch I know now who Guybrush's lawyer is going to be.

Guybrush does have that gold to pay him with after all.

Also, I think its almost certain we will be getting into Club 41. They wouldn't release concept art like that if we weren't

    No, but
    he's
    not a lawyer,
    he's
    a
    salesman
    .
    Stan
is a great charecter, but he needs to be
    selling something
    , you can't just put
    him
in a role that doesn't suit.

EDIT: It could be funny if we return to Flotsam, and find that
Stan has opened a shop on the island, and happens to be selling a spare L'esponge a grande

I think Guybrush will represent himself. Of course he'll need a few leads on what that means and some items for himself (after all he needs to make a good impression) and ermmm... evidence and testimonies.

Stan could help him with "Stan's previously owned products" like:
-"Law for dummies" Available in both Parrot and Hardcover edition
-Make believe lawyer collection (briefcase, documents and wigs)
-Stan's previously owned ties - court edition
    -Evidences
    -Testimonies

For continuity sake, Dangerous Dave PPP Maps should be available too
  • edited October 2009
I think it's the perfect way to incorporate Stan's character into the story and stays true to his character and is not forced. If Guybrush is to have a lawyer, they might as well use a character almost everyone knows and loves as opposed to using a new character.
  • edited October 2009
I still think stan should HATE Guybrush by now. I mean come'on? Buying a boat on stolen Credit? Nailing him in a coffin? and running a life insurance scam on him? I don't know how far you can push this salesman before he cracks! Especially if he catches the pox.
