Halloween Contest 2009 - People's Choice Award

edited June 2010 in General Chat
There have been some substantially awesome entries in this year's Halloween contest, and I think an extra prize is deserved for a "People's Choice" award.

The winner of the People's Choice award will get one free episode of a Telltale game of their choice,* plus (more importantly) the undying respect of the General Chat forum.

The poll is open for 5 days - go ahead and vote for your favourite now!

The poll options are the top 12 entries from the selection of 90 or so that have appeared on the Telltale blog to date.** To keep it at least pseudo-objective, this shortlist comprises the entries that received the most positive comments on the Telltale blog and the General Chat forum.

* The People's Choice award is run by the people, for the people and I hope that TTG doesn't mind! I will donate the prize and am counting on the Telltale genies/wizards to be kind enough to help administer delivery to the winner's account.

** Apologies if you have a massively cool entry that didn't make it into this selection. Don't blame me, blame Telltale for not blogging it!

To refresh your memory, here are the candidates (in random order).

Aww poor nikasaur! I literally just counted the comments, so I'm sorry some of your faves didn't make it in. But that's why you get to pick the REAL winners! :)

    Eh, mine's not included.
Got to go with the onion then, someone must have worked nights to get that finished before the deadline.

If the winner owns all TT games already, I cal dibs on the code.

I knew it. There are at least 2 more people out there like me being "incredibly funny" having voted for the onion-masterpiece. Okay. Its over. The onion wins.
    All worship the allmighty onion!

No really. Onions are cool. They are like ogres.

Well, I'd say "Halloween Contest - A Point & Click Adventure" is a winner!

Hey, you forgot my text adventure!

Oh wait, I never linked to it before. Also, the site I'm hosting it on seems to be having some problems right now.

But there it is for when it comes back up.

At least I didn't say Deader then LeFlay Mignon.

    Oooo that's cold.

So admittedly, I voted for my own because I would have felt all gloomy and depressed if I didn't get at least one vote, but I hope someone goes for the evil glow LeChuck soon. That's a very cool piece of art, there.

The Max paper doll is cool too. I really wish they had sent in photos of it in action because it's hard to tell how cool it is from the flat paper.

I know. That's what most of my post is about, but it should come back up soon. It's a problem with the hosting, I think. I wouldn't know, it won't even let me log in.

To be honest, there were so many incredible submissions that people had trouble even remembering them. I compiled a bunch of them and was amazed, we've gotten a kick out of each and every one.

Max smashing pumpkins was one of my absolute favorites though, WTB Print 4 Wall Plz.

Ugh, some of those are kind of lame. Then again, it's not like my worthless piece of crap would of won anyway.

Link is working now. I'm really insecure about this, but here it is anyway. I'm not sure what I'm so worried about.

I did actually. I also have to say

    A) Puzzlebox is an immensely generous and cool person for offering a prize to the winner of the poll :D (Three cheers for Puzzlebox!)

and B) I can't believe my entry is even in the poll. I'm not saying that to be modest, either, I really can't believe with all the great entries mine gets on the shortlist. You made my day Puzzlebox! Thanks!

    I can't choose only one.

Would not be fair with the who knows how many entries have been under wraps by telltale's crew.
Still there are many we havent seen, so its too early to do something like this IMHO

I just hope they didnt forget about the contest though ^^

Yep, but not at the exact same time. I let my hands "congeal" a little first, before cutting Max and his costumes out. My fingers felt completely boneless after doing all that sketching on my tablet :p

I think it's normal to feel anxious/nervous when releasing something you've created into a public arena where it can be criticised by people who don't necessarily know you or care about how you feel. People can be way harsh. :)

I'd love to play, but it loads with an "X" in the box where I guess the game should be. Does it need any particular plug-in to run?

    Aww :o

    Virtual hugs for Lena_P!

I got such a kick out of all the entries we've seen so far that I just wanted to give a little back. Even though we know Telltale is such a massively cool company that all of these will be officially recognised/rewarded anyway! ;)

Oh yeah. It needs Java. Sorry. Should've mentioned it before.

Awsome contest entries from everyone, its difficult to say that one is an absolute favorite since they're all great. :D But just one quick question (and I'm sorry if it was asked before) what's a recommended program for opening .rar files? I really want to try that contest game. Thanks and awsome job everybody.

    Congratulations, BlankCanvasDJ! :D

In spite of some tough competition from Onion Bubs, the free episode is yours (and well deserved too).

It's interesting to see how this poll stacks up against the official winners. Thanks to everyone who voted!

Yeah, nice comic man. You really grasped each characters sense of humor! I just caught onto the fact that the old lady in the end is the Gramma from Telltale Texas Hold'um
