A review pointing out some TTG weakness.

edited November 2009 in General Chat
I just found an older review about Tales of Monkey Island which was quite representative for some criticism against TTG in general.

(#1) Episodic gaming still, even with Tales of Monkey Island, does not live up to classic Adventures. Especially content wise.

(#2) Monkey Island ended with Monkey Island 2. (Choice of IP)

(#3) Why make games less usable for PC? In terms of controls?

See valid critics on Tales of Monkey Island

Ps.
Not that I'm against TTG publishing any Adventure Games but I hope it known to them that theres more to do. :/

This is false. Telltale's only weakness is sunlight.

Then why has Ron often mentioned that he had MI3 planned out in his head (even if CMI ended up being a very different game)?

    COMMENCE FANBOY ARGUMENT!

Indeed, but overall, i do feel that Telltale is and have been improving since Bone, not always as fast, and sometimes stuff goes back, like audioquality ^^

we can only hope they keep earning more money expanding, and not making to many games at once, because not sure if it was chance or what, but when Wallace and Gromit was done, you could instantly feel the increase in quality in Tomi, so not sure if that was because more people could help work.

But yeah voice acting, exciting characters are also a lacking departing, i dont really feel like Telltale has made a character stand out, that they have added to the Monkey Island universe, for me Murray and Stan really have stolen the show so far with Tomi, especially Murray! :D

Maybe someday, we will see them reach Lucas Arts in their golden age! :D atleast thats what i hope, because i sure do love Adventure (point and clicky) games.

I'd rather have an episodic version of S&M/MI than no version at all.

Best comment EVER!! I think the episodic format is a different style that some people need to get use to. Adventure games are episodic in a way anyway, as you progress through chapters you enter a whole new 'episode'.

IMO I think ToMI has just as much content in its current four chapters combined as any of the previous games have had.

That is correct regarding Sam&Max. For MI not as valid, but you might have a point.

I like TOMI more than any sequel to MI:2. I like to imagine TOMI being the time between MI and MI2. (Even if there are some clashes)

Well of course releasing a third part one would agrument that way :D

How come it took 6 years and suddenly it was not meant to end ...
oh yeah I know he was young and needed the money.

That is right. TOMI content is amazing, from a TellTale Gamers point of view. Since we know episodic gaming. Since we know how it started with Sam&Max a whole season with a total of 5 characters ?! Its true TellTale is improving a lot but ppl not used to episodic content notice the awkward repetition ...

I think most of us agreed lately that these points are pretty much BS. People who think that way are living in the Stone Age. Of the early '70s.
