Well, you'd be dead, so you wouldn't know it. Besides i think it says something nice about someones character, if it said they died from laughter. Shows that they were a generally happy person.

Have i missed the point entirely?

    Yup.

By the way, I was once mistaken for a girl too. I used to use the nick "Lafayette", for both the French Revolution guy and (mainly) the dog from The AristoCats. And some people tought it was "La -space- Fayette". Since "La" is the feminine article in several languages (I was in a Spanish forum), they assumed I was a girl, which I'm not (as far as I know...)
I've had the opposite problem. People tend to assume I'm male for some reason.

I usually assume that everyone on the internet is a male unless they actaully say otherwise. Or if they have a girly name/avatar.

OMG, I don't know whats going on....some women are actually men...and some men are actually women...I'm going to go and sit in the corner of the room and cry until I understand this fiasco.

    there-are-no-girls-on-the-internet.jpg

Should be common knowledge by now, folks.

Someone needs to tell LiveJournal that; it'd be very surprised.

The thing is, sites like LiveJournal, Myspace, Xanga, Gaia, and The Official Hugh Jackman Website are not a part of the internet. What happens is, when visiting one of these sites, you are redirected to a secondary internet. A whole other series of tubes. "Outernet", as I call it, has plenty of females.

I can prove it, too. See these beakers?

    beakers.jpg

Those beakers mean that I scienced this information, which makes it true.

Oh, well if you used science, I guess you must be right.

Wait. Is this forum on the Internet? (Looks down) Yes, they're still there.

Ha! That proves nothing! Ever see gamers portrayed in the media? We have those too! :p

Good point, but how is it that I can see my breasts and count my ribs?

Wait, underweight gamers are as impossible as girls on the Internet, never mind.

    Yeah... but... the beakers...

Congratulations. You've ruined science for everybody.

    *waddles off crying*

Don't fret, the beakers are right. Men have breasts, too.

I guess I automatically assume male unless the avatar or name is feminine. Or you can sometimes tell from how a person writes, though it has to be pretty obvious for me to change my mind.

That is why I prefer the idea of a genderless internet. All ambiguous avatars/names/posts are considered to be "gender free" and the person shall be referred to by name alone or by "you" or "it".
