This is the only site I'm on not in a rutt...

edited December 2009 in General Chat
It amazes me, I was on 4 forums and as of now 1 has died completely, one has been reduced to simple (and I mean SIMPLE) forum games, the third gets like 4 posts a week total, and the fouth is this site.

It seems like right now everyplace is going into a rutt and people are just dissapearing. I'm happy to see this place is still alive and kicking! it looks like for a while this is gonna be the only forum in my bookmarks worth visiting!

Give yourselves a hand, so far youve all survived the holiday rutt! :D

So goes the ways of the internet...

Having been an avid forum-visitor in my days, I know exactly where you're coming from. Whether times of the year or general disinterest, it seems sometimes even the best communities fall by the wayside.

Give yourselves a hand for being a great group of people who won't give up on us! You guys really keep this forum going, thanks for all the support and amusement!

One thing i've found on here is that everyone is so nice to everyone else. I frequent the Official Nintendo magazine forums (only about 10% of the people on there still buy the magazine), and that's taken a turn for the worse recently, in terms of attitude. Sure this place can get a little stale in terms of discussion, but theres a real nice community here that is much more important. And i love the amount of interaction between forumers and staff members.

Yeah I think the fact that so many of the Telltale crew do post here is a factor that keeps it going as well.
Just gonna take this oppurtunity to say that this is the most loveliest forum I've ever been to. <3

I go to Snowblind Studios' forum once every 6 months or so. I usually find a flood of about 3 posts in between visits.

Oh, so we're here to amuse you?

    :p

Just kidding, that's an incredibly nice sentiment and we're incredibly glad to be a part of a forum with such nice people. I love it here; it's a ton of fun to talk about adventure games and other things with everybody.

Indeed, I love this place for that. When Strong Bad came out, there was a bit of a turn for the immature as younger members appeared, but that seems to have been temporary. It's nice to be able to joke around and voice opinions without starting a flame war.

I think we all are a great group of people, and we support each other during the MI race me and Guru were holding we all got a nice bunch of forumers to come and cheer us on, I really am proud to be a apart of this community.

heh I'm acctually not on any other gaming sites (unless you count by playing World of Warcraft I automatically got a forum account) though oddly enough those do seem more active...

Not only is everyone nice here - most people also post in clearly written English. I really dislike the forums where every post is full of 1337 speak.

Also - TTforums don't let people have ginormous signatures with video and pictures that clutters up the screens. That is nice too.

It definitely helps that the forum is officially run by TTG, and is not just a fan forum. I love the direct feedback we get from the employees of telltale.

True. This place seems to have struck a balance (well the members have) between debating orderly (and playfully), and not being overly cautious. A wierd wave has spread over a forum i've been on. Every other post seems to be "I respect your opinion", and that oddly gets on my nerves after a while.

Yeah but if you get addicted I'll personally chase you out of here. I know what it's like to be forum addicted.

People who like adventure games are above a certain limit, that's why every forum user here have such nice manners and all that. Also, staff members using the forum and giving off information about games or so... It's REALLY sincere.

lol. That's nothin' on one forum I had more posts and more "time online" than the site OWNER! (and back then I was employed and she wasnt so...)

I agree it's awesome to have the TTG employees acctually taking part in the discussions of the games. I've had technical problems on other "official" forums and every time all I saw were members, not a single employee (one such forum being the offical Microsoft Technet forums!)

I've also noticed that the flame wars dont happen here, even when people dissagree they're civil about it, which is nice (though as somone said, we ARE dealing with higher-thought-level games here than many forums do, so it's a very different group of people)

What you (and the others) said above are some of the reasons why I love this place. It's so refreshing to make a comment or even disagree with another person's point of view without being verbally gutted over it. I'm amazed that even with the age differences of the people here, everyone still gets along. It's almost like the non-dysfunctional family I always wished for and never had.

TTG (the business) and the members here made me, a total stranger, feel welcome from day one. And as long as I don't break a hip and end up in a nursing home, I'm here to stay. If only I could bake a batch of cookies for each and every one of you to say, thanks for giving me the pink fuzzies :)

    I agree...you bastard :p

But seriously, I was on the Inifnity Ward forums there and I felt so bad for the devs or anyone who didn't hate Modern Warfare 2, the dogs abuse they were getting was just unreal

I have to say that this is the forum I've posted on the most, short of sheroes I guess. (I know it's a stupid name, but Meg Cabot was one of the founders and she insisted.) Even that one I stopped visiting when I realized no one else was really interested in video games. I do miss the martial arts discussions, though ... not that I could follow half of them, but still.

You reminded me of another thing i like about this forum. The mods are subtle (no giant MODERATOR Tag). In fact, i only realised who the moderators were yesterday. And they aren't trigger happy either. I've only ever seen 3/4 locked threads (that aren't anouncement threads or simply just retired) in my time here.

Also, when i read the name "sheroes", it took me a while to get it.At first i was reading it as s-heroes (zeroes basically):o
Anyways, i think it's quite a clever name, although i bet it does get annoying after a while. I came up with the name "It's in The bag!" for a bag selling business we run as a school team, and by the end of the year, we positively hated it. I'm rambling aren't I?

So very true! (though I dissagree about the locked threads, unless I'm in the wrong forum there's nowhere near 75% of the threads locked o_O) I didnt even notice the little icon at first, so I had no idea to be afraid of them! (Though to be honest on 2 sites I know of they dont even show moderator tags AT ALL - the only way to know your contacting the staff is to PM the "Administrator" account)

I wish I had been around these forums at the start of TTG, but I feel that the success of these forums has been attributed to several factors.

When TTG was starting up, there was no huge advertising effort that I was aware of. Thus, they needed a strong community to promote their games by word of mouth. The TTG team put a lot of effort into their web presence, especially by being highly active on the forums (when you see the team posting around midnight PST, you know they really care).

With the release of each new series, new members get drawn in, keeping the forums strong. If they stuck with only Bone and Sam and Max, the community would not grow by such leaps and bounds as it has by adding W&G, Strongbad, and MI.

Also, what other forums have you seen where the members buy the development team gifts at the end of a season? (which isn't happening, sadly, now that the forums are this large).
