I doubt it would happen after so much time. Not without the rerelease of Shenmue 1&2 anyway. What was shenmue like anyway? I've never played it?

True i guess, but Monkey island wasn't as story based as what i think shenmue is. And it was accompanied by the SE.

I'm not saying theres no hope, i'm just saying that they will have to rerelease/remake the first two if they want to attract decent sales (only a minority bought them before, and new people will be put off by a number in the title).

Considering where the story left off, they could probably just call it "Shenmue: Sheng Hua's Emergence" or something and have it start there with newbies to the series none the wiser that it was the third installment. I love the first two games, but the story was pretty much an extra long prologue. Where you could feed a kitten and win capsule toys.

Thats what was awesome about it, that and some of the charachters...but mostly because I could work and get capsule toys..it was like I was living my real life through a video game.(Cept I don't know kung fu.)

They might buy it then, but they'd be offput by the story. Think of it like starting harry potter with The deathly hallows.

I am begging for this game to come out. I F***ing LOVE Shenmue with all of my heart. There was a fan made prequel for the PC named Shenmue Zero that you guys might want to checkout.

sadly there will probably never be a shenmue 3, the guy who made it -Yu Suzuki barely even works at sega anymore. buuut Ryo's showing up in some sonic racing game soon which is a almost good sign.. it means at least sega hasnt forgotten his exsitance.. and he's sort of not stuck in a cave anymore.. he can race against hedgehogs now! o.o

That last bit about the racing game is disturbing.

I love Shenmue. I spent 50 quid buying a Dreamcast + Game, just to play it. I would love part three, and you could easily sum the first 2 games up in a 10 minute video. The only bad bit about Shenmue was the 'Jobs' you had to do.
"So, we lift this... and put it there?"
    "Yeah."
    "But why?"
    "Eh... I dunno."
"Come to think of it... theres a forklift truck over there... and that only needs one person to operate it..."
"I know, you think they'd have thought this through."

Anyway, I want Part 3, and I want it to complete the story. I don't want to have to be in the same position if it ever comes out that we'd have to wait for 4. If Yu ever gets round to it then I hope he finishes it completely. A few years ago they were working on a Shenmue game... but unfortunately it was an MMORPG... only in Japan. Sigh.
