Last I heard, Steve Purcell is trying to pitch an Idea, to several tv stations, about sam and max, so it may happen.

    Where'd you hear that?

You talk as if there has been a second series. I do believe the animated series has only ever had one season.

Shouldn't this be in the Sam and Max forum?

Also iirc there is a second series that's an anime ("Sam and Max: Freelance Samurai"), but I've not heard anything about it in over a month so....

Do you have a source? The only thing that comes up on a Google search for "Sam and Max: Freelance Samurai" are a couple of your posts, and other searches turn up nothing relevant. I searched for アニメ as well as anime.

I liked the animated series but I think Sam & Max translate better to the interactive entertainment format.

I think on the proper channel it could really thrive.

Sorry, came from an IRC chat on an anime board. I have NO idea what the kanji would be, your miles ahead of me if you can even type kanji! lol. I'll see if I can track down anyone again, but I can tell you that I was told the series had S+M's usual humor but had a darker, more serious, overarching storyline that filled the whole season.

It was one series with two seasons, actually.

Well the kanji for samurai is 侍 and freelance is written フリーランス, but I'm not having any luck googling for フリーランス侍, フリーランスの侍 or the two words separately (though I'm not actually any good at Japanese, so I might be overlooking something).
Please see what you can turn up. I'm sure we'd all love a look at it.

I honestly think a new animated series would do well, and I'm not just saying that because I'm a fan. The humour was miles ahead of it's time and I think a new series could attract a lot of new fans, as well as the old ones.

As long as Purcell is involved in it's creation and that it doesn't all go to someone who changes everything. The great thing about the games and the '97-'98 series is that they stay so faithful to the comics.

About the existing animated series - yes, the 2nd season didn't have as many episodes but it was 2 seasons. Or 2 series as some say because that's what they call it in some countries just to confuse everyone :P
