Telltale has nothing to do with "The Secret of Monkey Island: SE", that's a Lucas Arts re-release. They made "Tales of Monkey Island" under an agreement with Lucas Arts, though.
Yeah, they are probably more interested in the sales of ToMI than MI SE for developing any future episodic series (beyond the obvious reason that 1 makes them money and the other doesn't ).
