Aliens Vs Predator

edited February 2010 in General Chat
It seems that another video game suprise for 2010 is the release of the long awaited 3rd AVP game. I know the movies to some are either, hit or miss. But I really can't wait for this game, and well both them are my Favorite Sci-Fi/Horror movie films, so what are your guys take on the games?

Here is a trailer for the upcoming game.

Also I created a Poll thingy, for the people that know the games/movies and what species is their favorite.

Hard to choose, really. I love the Aliens for their amazing design and fascinating behavior, but the Predators intrigue me just as much.

I'm skeptical about this, Rebellion has a varied record in quality. The original was great and all, but that was ten years ago.

On the other hand Aliens: Colonial Marines promises to be one to watch. Gearbox are generally outstanding in design matters.

I want this game. I must have spent days and days playing the original and sequel.
    I can't wait for this!

From what I hear, them saying, that it will be just the same as the original with some minor improvements.

Avp demo out now on steam and Xbox live.

I played the demo on LIVE for a while this morning, and I'm in love. The map they chose is a bit crap, but the trophy/stealth kills are a blast (especially when you rip the head off of a Marine, just to be interrupted by an Alien or Pred getting ready to do the same to you. It's like a gory conga line), and playing a Marine is finally terrifying again.

My only qualm so far is that Predator's disc is way overpowered. But not so much so that it's gamebreaking.

I agree with everthing you say, and the alien is fun as hell to play as.

I tried the PC demo with my Xbox joypad and was useless at it - I just couldn't get the same precision as mouse and keys. I don't know how console users cope playing FPS.

I soon switched to classic controls and found it a lot easier. I still wasn't particularly good at it though!

Hmm... why do they use the graphic from Alien and the logo from Aliens?

In a way they're not, but consoles are also for those people who have computers, but can't run the games.

Not always. My PC can run AvP, but I'd still prefer to get the 360 version. I see myself spending an ungodly amount of time with it, and I have a hard computer chair, so... yeah. :p

I would like to add that Predator is the only one playable because the game is way too dark due to a glare on my Television.

I have a 'fishing chair' for my computer which is terrible for my posture. I was hoping I could play it with a joypad on my bed but alas it was no good. Shame really. I am enjoying the demo though - I hope they do a single player one so I can see what the actual game is like. I don't do much online gaming because I'm no good at it either because of MY limitations or my internet speed. I'm gonna go with the latter :p

I was playing on live with Shagge, and I would love to say between me and him we were messing things things up on live.

One thing I've noticed about the Multiplayer is the Alien is for more experienced, the pred for Mediorce and the human for beginers.

People seem to be really good at it already. I can be firing rounds at someone as they come towards me and it's like they're wearing a bulletproof vest. Then they pretty much just flick my nose and I'm dead. In fact that always seems to be the case with every online FPS even though I'm often quite good in single player.

The demo itself is an aweful lot of fun, I mean I know it won't get FPS of the year, but serioulsy is fun for everyone. I have a blast, with it.

Yeah, I've been playing the demo a lot. Not sure at what price I'll be buying the game, might hang on to see if Steam reduces it at some point.

Your geeting it for 50 dollars cheaper than I am, and 20 dollars cheaper than everyone else who buys it from gamestop.

I'm in the UK - I can get it for £18 on disc online or £25 on Steam, both prices are reasonable but my main point is unless they release a single player demo so I can see if it's any good I shall be waiting for a sale.

The single player will probably be coming out after the game comes out, so it might be a good Idea to rent it.

Anyone got it? Gamespot said it was mediocre and flawed but sometimes Gamespot make some questionable decisions regarding their scores.

I think it's amazing I rarely say this about any First Person shooter. But the game is freaky, and it puts thrill and then they're is the all mighty gore train.

I say pick it up, you won't be disappointed.

I really like it... but I do not know if its only because I am a really big Aliens and Predator fan...

It may not appeal to a non-fan, but if you are you should love it.

I got it for PS3 if you want to friend me on there my name is Irishmile on there as well.

Humans suck, the Predators, while awesome... don't appeal to me as much.
    But Aliens? Hell yes.

On single player, sure, the humans are somewhat hard.
But damned if the atmosphere isn't right.
