What good games are being released, or have been released, in Q1 of 2010?

edited January 2010 in General Chat
Well, we're a third of the way through January and there haven't really been any games, released so far, that have appealed to me. Nor are there any upcoming releases that have caught my interest (apart from Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island and possibly the Star Trek MMO). So I was wondering if anyone here could provide me with some good 2010 titles set for release within the next couple of months?

All I'm interested in so far is that Edgeworth-centered game, (from Phoenix Wright) No More Heroes 2, and Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver. (I normally don't care for the newer games but come on man it's damn Gold and Silver.) Those are all considered hit-or-miss games though, so it's just my preference.

Alien Vs Predator, Mass Effect 2, Heavy Rain, Bioshock 2, Dante's inferno, all due out in Q1 of 2010.

Modnation Racers (I made a video about that one!), God of War 3, MAG. Yeah, I have a bit of a PS3 obsession.

There's enough games coming out to make me bankrupt.

It's like gaming christmas came late this year...

My list(Which keeps getting bigger and bigger) -

    Mass Effect 2
    Final Fantasy XIII
    Heavy Rain
    White Knight Chronicles
    Bioshock 2
    Resonance of Fate
    Pokemon SoulSilver
    Yakuza 3

...it's times like this that make me glad I'm 2 years behind modern games. I've only just started playing Assassin's Creed and Dead Space.

I'm interested in Heavy Rain, although, judging by the videos I've seen, the writing is sub-par - that's a pretty bad thing for something so story-driven.

    Bayonetta looks good.

Basically this plus Bayonetta if you like extremely over the top cheesy action.

95% of games these days are poo poo.

The new adventure from the makers of Gabriel Knight, I think it was called Gray Matter, also Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island, an expansion pack for Majesty 2, the new game in the Phoenix Wright series...

Microsoft is working on one of the most anticipated sequels of the year; BioShock 2.

Microsoft have nothing to do with Bioshock, 2K Marin do. Also the majority of games mentioned are not due in Q1.
Nintendo is putting on the finishing touches to Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers.

Same thing here; Square Enix make Final Fantasy.
Some that haven't been mentioned which look interesting are: Just Cause 2, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Tatsunoko Vs Capcom.

Really? Damn, I'm embarressed... Guess I didn't check my facts deep enough. I'll try not to make such aweful mistakes again.
I also left out a bunch of games. I was pointing out some.
    I know they're all not Q1.

Thanks for pointing out my errors... Don't judge GGG too harshly because of my carelessness. I was working while tired, never a good mix.

Mass Effect 2 has all my attention right now. Or rather, the Mass Effect franchise...trying to cram in one last playthrough before Tuesday. Don't usually get games, especially mainstream AAA "blockbuster" games, on release day...but I can make an exception for Mass Effect 2.

I'm definitely interested in Charlie Murder, and I'm not sure if my gaming reflexes are still good enough to do anything other than fail horribly at Super Meat Boy. Same goes for Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, and I'm not sure when that one's getting out. I have some interest in Napoleon: Total War, but likely won't end up getting it because I think most of my Strategy friends are sticking with Civilization for now.

2010 seems to have slowed down on the indie games front compared to Q4 of last year. Here's hoping it speeds up, last year was EXCELLENT for indie games.

Can I judge it by the Brutal Legend review then?

Had a look around at your blog and I most confess I raised an eyebrow slightly when you review of Brutal Legend and don't even mention the multiplayer aspect, which is the focus for the game. According to the high and mighty Tim Schafer the campaign is only there to teach the player of the multiplayer aspect. I also have to point out that the formatting for the post is rubbish and hardly readable, with all those weird line breaks all over the place :P

    Split/Second looks kind of cool.

A twist on the car racing format, with racers having to avoid exposions, collasping construction site and bursting water pipes that fall upon the track in a wrath of destruction.

I really don't do the whole Multi-iplayer aspect of games, like that.
and if Tim Schaffer wanted to make a Multi-player game then he failed at it.
Here are some good examples of Multi-player games.

    1. Halo 3
    2. Fuzion Frenzy
    3. Left 4 dead and Left 4 Dead 2.
    4. Mario Party

Something that player and his friends can enjoy. Many of my friends don't have a PS3, so really there is no point in me actually reviewing something I don't do and can not do. Because honestly, I only play with friends online. Because it's my opinion of the game, if you don't agree with the way I did something, or the way I reviewed please write a better review and post it somewhere :) Thank you and Have a nice day.

Mass Effect 2, Halo: Reach, Bioshock 2, Aliens vs. Predator, Final Fantasy 13.

Also to be released fairly soon are the Return to Ostagar DLC for Dragon Age: Origins, and the Awakening expansion pack.

Some good looking games scheduled for late in the year: Fable III, Alpha Protocol, Fallout New Vegas and Crackdown 2.

Halo Reach is a Fall release, same as all of the other Halo titles (bar Wars), though the beta for Reach is due in spring, covering parts of Q1 and Q2.

Now I haven't played the game, but I like the conclusion that since you haven't even tried to play the game multiplayer then it sucks for it. Fascinating... I was expect more form someone who reviews games ;-)

Quite true, but maybe you should research the games you review before you review them? That way you'll focus on the stuff people are interested in and expect to see when they read the review.

As for writing my own? Please.... That argument is so old and so flawed I'm not even going to comment on it. Do fix the line breaks in the review, it's hard to read.

    Have a good day.

Actually i'm about 99% certain Fable III will be delayed knowing Lionhead :)

Well the first thing about a review, isn't reviewing what other people want about it, it's about your honest opinion about it, and Multi-Player shouldn't really be that important to game, and I honestly have not been a fan of Multi-Player since it was you, and your best friend in the front room with 2 SNES Controllers playing Mario cart.

No need to argue about it now. Some people like this, some don't. If you think there should be a better review, then write one yourself. Start your own site. But we still appreciate your criticism, and will take it into consideration. Thank you. But we prefer the comments to seem less... malicious...

Napoleon: Total War should be out in Q1, though I'm somewhat ambivalent towards that. Probably better to just stick to Medieval II: Total War.

Yes, a review is about your honest opinion about something, but you can't hate something before you experience it. You can't say a cake tastes bad without eating it because you don't like cakes. And you can't say that Tim Schafer has failed in making a multiplayer game because you personally don't do the whole multiplayer aspect of games. Reviews don't just express personal opinions about something, they also tell the readers of the review what to expect when they purchase it. I respect your opinion, so, hopefully, you respect my opinion about your opinion.

Oh, good games? I dunno. Epic Mickey looked interesting in the concept art, but the early screenshots don't look that appealing.

    It's already been said, but;

    Mass Effect 2!
If you haven't played Mass Effect yet, buy both of them. They'll keep you occupied out the end of February.
Then there's the new Sam 'n Max coming in... not sure. But this year.
And hopefully we'll see Telltale + Al Lowe making a new Leisure Suit Larry series of games (chapters) before the summer vacation starts!

    *Crosses fingers*

I didn't enjoy the multiplayer, that or PSN made it un enjoyable. I don't know wich, I just wasn't a fan of the multiplayer. I tried it last night to be fair, and I didn't enjoy it so much, I found it just as tedious as the story mode. :(

Another good game to watch out for this year, is Postal III just found out that it's coming out and I nearly fell out of my chair, as for being violent beyond beleif, its a good series.
