Pokemon Wi-Fi Battles

edited May 2010 in General Chat
Magikarp, use Spash Attack!

Anyone want to engage in Pokemon battles over wi-fi? My Platinum friend code is 1419-2769-6261.

I'm not particularly good because it's kinda hard playing a game in a language that... I don't understand...

If I had a wii, I'd bring Sasha to the battle and also my mewtwo.

You basically just told everyone that you downloaded the game illegally. Nice job!

Hm? Really? I've bought Japanese imports lots of times. Portable consoles are zone free so you can play them and sometimes that's the only way to. You don't need to download them to have a Japanese version.

Or did you get the "illegal" part from the friends code?

You do know there's nothing illegal about owning a Japanese version of a game, right? I don't know why the hell you're assuming it's downloaded either.

As far as I'm aware there's no way to do that, I think the friend codes are generated randomly the first time the game is connected to Nintendo Wi-Fi rather than there being a set one for each cartridge.

Heh... that reminds me of playing through Final Lap Twin at least twice on the PC Engine (Japanese version of the TurboGrafx-16) that my dad bought (hooray for imports) without me understanding a single word... :D

I bought the game while I was living in Taiwan last fall.

I can do a time stamp image if you really want it.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!! *shakes fist* That damn Gengar!

The results of the epic battle: epic fail for me. Confuse Ray is the bane of my entire party.

Gengar took out Charizard, Torterra, Articuno and Luxray without breaking a sweat. (and Lopunny, but that's nothing to brag about) A mere glitch Pokemon does not stand a chance.

GOOD GOD THAT THING IS FAST.

Gengar does not play well with Golduck.
  • edited April 2010
Golduck is awesome when he isn't asleep or punching himself in the face because he's confused.

So...I picked up SoulSilver a couple weeks ago and my interest in Pokemon has been re-sparked. Anyone still interested in battling?
  • edited May 2010
Ugh, forget Gengar, Blissey is the bane of my existence. I stopped with the random competitive wi-fi battling because of the samey teams everyone had. (most of them ARed)

Also one of my friends enjoyed kicking my ass a lot with a Wobbuffet. THAT THING WAS PURE EVIL. So I got an entire team of baton passing status Eevees (start with an Umbreon and mean look to prevent Wobbuffet's escape) and his Wobbuffet suddenly became his team's downfall as I baton passed agility and calm mind all around. It was glorious.
  • edited May 2010
That sounds slightly similar to my team. I almost finished raising all seven Eevee evolutions, and I gave Leafeon Swords Dance and Baton Pass. Espeon does have Calm Mind, but not Baton Pass.

A few years ago, I took an all-Eevee team with me to the 10th anniversary tournament. I got knocked out in the first round, but that battle could've easily gone either way at the end. The crazy thing is that I raised that team from eggs to level 100 in only a month.

And in case anyone's wondering, Espeon is my favorite.

I've never really played any wifi battles. I've got quite a few pokemon in my platinum version that have been EV trained and everything, but apart from looking nice they don't really do much.
  • edited May 2010
I hate Snorlax too. All that HP and the bloody thing uses Rest half the time. And looks dumb to boot. Stupid Snorlax.

I actually don't have much in the way of tactics, my general approach is to try and steamroller my opponent and use a few cheap tricks here and there as a surprise. Though getting my ass handed to me repeatedly does highlight weaknesses in my teams that need fixed... *shakes fist at Tope* I've never actually mastered or even understood EV training, but I do infect all my Pokemon with PokeRus at the earliest point possible, because apparently in the world of Pokemon, viruses are your friend.

I'm still up for wi-fi battles, my HeartGold friend code is 3739 2734 8310.
  • edited May 2010
A friend once managed to explain EV training to me. I then proceeded to spend days constructing the most elaborate Excel spreadsheet I've ever created. Now I can type a few details and a list of all the Pokemon I've fought and it'll give me a complete list of what EVs I have.

Btw, I'm still up for wifi battles as well. And I've gotten a bit better since my first post!

I'd battle you right now, but due to a series of events beyond my control, I'm just now about to start playing episode 2, so another time perhaps.
