It's been fun, but...
I remember way back in 2005, hearing about this rag-tag group of Ex-lucas arts employees who were making their own company... While I was excited, I was also skeptical... I thought "no way it would work, no one has any interest in adventure games anymore, there is no profit or huge fanbase in them"
I'm glad I was wrong...
... And so, I have been around since 2006... one of the top 10 most vocal and respected users, and I was once the voice of paranoia and reason on this forum... although as of late I have been trouble finding my voice on the current events of the community, and I have been something of a backseat lurker
I am a fiction writer and the telltale stories and puzzles have been huge influences in keeping my dreams alive, their not giving up on the "true" episodic game format (when everyone was unsure it would work) inspired me to not give up on my own innovative ideas in film and fiction... and despite what i am about to say, if they would have me, i would join them in a heartbeat... not many in the game or media industry are as passionate about their work as they are, a rare breed indeed
But my original fears have been confirmed several times over the 5 year period I have been here... bottom line, they are a company... and they do what they must to grow that company. For many, their ambition is a good thing... but to a player like myself, I am often left behind by that ambition
I do not expect anyone to follow me, I am not off to start some kind of revolution here... I don't want change, apologies, or compensation... in fact if anyone else leaves, they are an idiot... the loss of my old voice means what it means, that the voice has said all it can say...
That's the fact of life anywhere... that people come and go, many have gone without so much as a goodbye... others were lost in the wind or moved on bigger and better things
I have always looked forward to my 1000'th post... I've been inching up to it for months and always had it in the back of my mind to say something special, or clever, or funny, etc. but never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined anything like this... (seriously, you can't make this shit up!)
*Sniffle*
Goodbye
It's just... Yeah, it's time for me to go
I will miss you guys, and I will be around to keep an eye on things... But its time for this voice to go silent... My heart is just not in this anymore
A wise man once said that the dream of episodic gaming would change the world of gaming forever... I'm glad I was right... too bad that the world gaming has changed the dream of episodic gaming forever as well
I'm glad I was wrong...

Was a bunch of yuppies getting sam and max a couple days early really worth all this?
I think you're being ridiculously brash. The decision that seems to have "broken the camel's back", as it were, is something that particularly does not affect the understood contract between developer and customer.
Also, I continue to be emotionally unaffected by "I'm leaving the internet forever" messages.
Maybe that means you'll change your mind. We can only hope.
Then maybe you could go get some candy. I love candy.
I will in fact edit it to reflect your request.
Look, this is an unforgiving market for newcomers, and Telltale is in a particularly risky segment. Without some sound business decisions Telltale wouldn't have been where it is today, and might not have been here anymore at all. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.
Agree with this. I see it as an attempt to get attention and maybe garner a bit of sympathy to a certain point of view. A bit pointless really, at the end of the day to be honest.
Personally, I applaud Telltale for taking a chance on putting their latest product on a brand new piece of hardware, and a popular one at that. There's no sense in company not growing, not attempting to do things they've not done before. If you don't expand in a environment as competitive as the games industry, you die. Telltale isn't a big company (though they are bigger than they were 5 years ago) and so can't normally be at the forefront of a new piece of technology and so when they were offered (I'm guessing here with 'offered' - for all I know they were the ones who suggested the idea to Apple but anyway) the chance to have their latest game be involved right at the launch of the latest product from one of the biggest tech companies in the world, how could they refuse, even if it meant giving it to them earlier than their main customer base.
I like the path Telltale have taken in the last couple of years, expanding their platform base from just Windows PC to all current generation consoles and Macs. Now the iPad marks their first foray into what is really an unknown market especially regarding games. Of course they have to be careful when expanding to not forget where they came from but I see little to make me think that will happen, certainly not in the near future. I want them to be able to reach as many gamers as possible, how could anyone want to deny them that.
Get over it dude... and yes they are a company and they have a right to make decisions that will make them survive in the business world.
I understand you being upset... what I do not understand is acting like they have personally slighted you.
Please tell us more about what it is like to be Mayor of Overreactionville.
I am definitely on team YARE now.... if Nikasaur edits this maybe I will be leaving the net forever too.
Let's just be thankful Dangerzone's not a Modern Warfare fan or we'd have to send people over to his house to check up on him
See you around pal!
Edit
Is there anyway that highway to the danger zone could play when people opened this thread... it really needs a soundtrack.

I hope he realizes he is over reacting and comes back to have more fun with us all..
Because when he buys DVD's sometimes he doesn't buy them from certain shops and misses out on the tacky crap they throw in and he's sick of this shit. Straw that broke the camels back was the iPad "exclusivity deal"
It's pretty goddamn silly stuff
But can he though? He'd never live it down
SO THE IPAD GETS IT 2 WEEKS SOONER. SO YOU GOT SNUBBED ON STUFF. SO YOU ALREADY ORDERD THE PC/PS3 VERSION AND NOW THE IPAD VERSION IS RELEASED.
SO WHAT? THATS NO REASON TO RAEGQUIT THE FORUMS.
