Cars isn't just "about cars." In the movie Cars, there are no humans. all the people and animals and bugs and every living thing are all cars, which is why the movie is aptly named.
However, the movie is about loyalty, friendship and learning to slow down in a fast-paced world.
The plot involves a big celebrity (sports car) who
gets lost en route to a race, ends up getting stuck in a small town and basically learns to see a new perspective on life rather than just living to crave the spotlight.
It really is a wonderful movie.
THANK YOU! I really don't understand why it gets so much hate from everyone. I wasn't really keen on seeing it after I saw the trailers, but when I finally got round to it, I liked it very much. And now that I've seen it a couple of times I think its up there with the rest of Pixars wonderful movies.
Guys, Pixar had only ever made 1 sequel that has been released up to now (May 2010, so everyone who sees this message in the future will know it's outdated), and it was, in my opinion, better than the original. Yes, I'm saying to you that I like Toy Story 2 better than Toy Story. It had a bigger plot, it explored more of the idea of 'living toys', and it also had deeper levels in the story ("Andy is growing up, and there's nothing you can do about it"). So, all I'm saying is that it's not impossible for sequels to be as good, or better than the original. Yes, Disney sequels suck, but Pixar isn't controlled by Disney. Well, not remotely controlled, anyway.
I realize that, but as happens with all studios, the more sequels you make the lower the quality of the outcome. I just don't want them to start sucking.

Ooh, yeah, that does happen. Well, as long as they still crank out a good original movie once a year, then it's still good, right?
I'm really excited for Toy Story 3, angry that of all the Pixar movies, they revive Cars (god know I will still see it though), and kind of surprised about Monsters Inc.2. If any Pixar should get a sequel, it should be The Incredibles.
P.S. Does anyone remeber A Bug's Life? I can never remember that one when I recount the movies.

It would be really easy too, because the first one ended with sort of a cliffhanger-type-deal, leaving it open to sequels. also, i loved the characters in that one.
Dreamworks makes decent originals but their sequels usually aren't very good.
Yeah, though people consider Shrek 2 and Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa improvements of the original films.
I do like Shrek 2 more than Shrek 1, but I didn't like any of the Madagascar films at all. Well, I don't hate them, but I don't see anything special about them. Frankly, I don't like Dreamworks animated films that much, since they end up being all the same. How To Train Your Dragon was good, though. Probably because they decreased the amount of lame jokes and increased the storytelling.
Also, I agree about having a sequel to The Incredibles. I would pay twice to see that once.

Do they? I really can't believe that. At least concerning Shrek. Shrek 1 is so much better than both sequels in my opinion, and Madagascar... well they are both not very good.
I like Madagascar, it's fun and light. Some stuff is great even, the penguins (in small dozes), and the "king" are particularly enjoyable. Madagascar 2 was a big improvement over the original, because the jokes and humour didn't feel remotely as forced as the original. The original felt like the writers were trying too hard at times.
But seriously, I am never going to watch any of these films (neither Pixar movies or Dreamworks) again on my own, because they've all been played several times in my home, due to my kids being fan of them. That's the curse of having kids of their age... I will never buy a movie like this in Blu-Ray to collect them for example, 'cause my kids don't use Blu-ray and I wouldn't let them anyway.
Well, maybe I'll get Cars on blu-ray sometime, but only because it's somewhat special. I already bought the DVD three times, due to my kid "wearing" them out. Probably his favourite movie ever, in his yet short life.

DreamWorks doesn't seem to do this, but Disney has been releasing its Blu-rays in 3- or 4-disc packs which include the DVD version as well. So you could collect the multi-disc Pixar Blu-rays and get the best of both worlds. If you're worried about your kids getting to the Blu-ray instead of the DVD, you could store the DVD or BD separately in a generic slipcase. (If it were me, I would keep the BD in its shiny original packaging and leave the generic DVD case in the open for the kids. )

I think you misunderstood. I'm not interested in seeing these movies ever again, they're already up to my throat and I'm so sick of them. After seeing them all around 50 times each, they kinda gets on your nerves, you see.

Ah, okay! I see what you mean. I think I focused too much on what you said in the last sentence of the first paragraph I quoted.
Anyway ... I find it kind of sad when someone ends up getting tired of something due to overexposure. But it can't always be helped, alas. I should know. (
Man, how many movies did I make my parents totally sick of watching? Oy vey ...

The problem is that they're now cranking out three sequels at once. And that's not looking good for their record of only having ONE sequel so far in their history, as opposed to now doing several in close succession.
It would be really easy too, because the first one ended with sort of a cliffhanger-type-deal, leaving it open to sequels. also, i loved the characters in that one.
No, not really. And even if it was a cliffhanger worthy of a sequel, which it really wasn't, this was already covered in a video game(Rise of the Underminer).
Shrek 1 is far better than any of the others. I loved Madagascar, though. Both films. But one isn't any better than the other. They're two very different animals (pardon the pun). Both Madagascar films are excellent. And I love the penguins. I even have a few of the episodes recorded on DVD (besides the two included with Madagascar 2)...
The Incredibles is awesome. Was my favourite before Wall-e. I would have loved a sequel to that. But it was also a great ending. I remember A Bug's Life. I remember the controversy between Pixar and Dreamworks over it and "Antz" on who had the idea first. A Bug's Life was better, though.
Not that I hate A Bug's Life, but it has to be my least favorite Pixar film. There's just nothing special about it that other Pixar movies don't have. I mean, the story's good, but Toy Story 1 and 2, Up and Ratatouille have better stories, the scenery is beautiful, but Wall-E, Finding Nemo and Cars had more beautiful scenery, and the characterization was great, but The Incredibles and Monster's Inc. were better. Still A Bug's Life was a solid film, overall, but not as amazing as the other Pixar films.
Of course, my parents liked Antz more because it had more famous celebrities (something Pixar never really needed), and that was the last time I take suggestions from my parents about what movies to watch.

BioWare's doing the same...
And my least favorite Pixar movie has to be Up. Favorite? Probably depends on when you ask.

See, everyone keeps saying that, and I really don't know why. Why? Is it because it was too summer blockbuster-y?
