What, there isn't any word for just hello or just goodbye?
Because lots of languages have a word that can be ether ("Salut" in French, "Ciao" in Italian...)
But I hadn't heard of a language where every word that means "hi" also means "bye" and vice versa.

(The Beatles song that goes "You say good-bye, and I say hello" must not translate to Hawaiian very well.)

Not that I can think of, no.
Ungetorre!
How do you say Hello in German anyway?
Greetings, citizens!
Well... Happy birthday to the others, I guess. But happy unbirthday to most of you!
You too. And happy Sunday.
A very merry Unbirthday to you as well!
