It is a 4 minute round trip to the nearest island. The crew is made up of 15 people and the boat will have sunk in 10 minutes.

Yeah, I knew the "answer" too, but challenged myself to think of something else that works, and so put 'insanity tablets' instead. With older, more well known riddles, it is more fun to try and think of another correct non-answer response.
As for the up=down thing, I have a couple of ideas.
I reckon the answer is probably "sit"
But also in sort of... funky child disco songs, the pseudorapper person often uses "GET UP!" and "GET DOWN!" as the same.
The answer isn't "sit" (feel free to answer his question anyways) but I feel there are more verbs that apply than I thought haha. So I'll give a hint, in spoilers for those who don't want it.
