Does anyone know what crumbles qualify as?

    it classifies as a crumble?

A crumble is pretty much any fruit that has something like this on top. The bottom crust is optional.

I'd say crumbles are a "baked good", that American catch-all term for muffins, cookies, cupcakes and other tasty things you can buy in coffee shops and restaurants but don't see as often at bakeries and pastry shops. Except of course that now pastry shops devoted entirely to cupcakes have started popping up even though ten years ago you hardly ever saw the things, but still, I feel my point stands.

I voted pie because there are so many delicious varieties! Well that and I also pledged my allegience to pie during the epic adult swim IB memes of '05.

When it comes to cake, I just like chocolate...

yay, chocolate! i had banana cake today. not as good as carrot cake. but they are my favourite fruit and veggie cakes. still vote pie though

Okay, so I was talking to my family about the proper classification of cheesecake, and I was told that cheesecake is technically a form of custard, or maybe a type of custard pie.

So, I'm not sure what I should have voted for then.

You cake people are an affront to my sense of righteousness. Go think about what you've done!

I am thinking about having some cake. Is that good enough?

How fitting that I use my 2000th post to say: PIE FTW

Pah! How can any of you be expected to judge with your limited knowledge of the pastry arts? Where are the Wiganers?

Have to admit, had one of the best pies I've ever had when I went to Wigan for a football match (Wigan v Boro, October 2008). Quite easily the best food at any football ground I've been to (ok, not counting corporate meals as I've never done that, being the commoner that I am!).

Are you sure it wasn't 'exquisite'?

    ...perhaps...
  • edited June 2010
Neither. I really don't like one or the other in particular and so I can't really say which is better for me.

Due to a pie eating contest, I have come to declare that pie is wonderful.

    Strawberry pie...fresh..strawberry pie...

Why the heck am I reading through this thread. Now I am hungry, but it is 12:00a.m. and I cannot be stuffed making anything (if you count putting a frozen pie in the oven as 'making something').

Because it is the best thread ever? But not for long... I am currently building a thread, stronger than before, that will put all the other "Boobs" and "Theology" threads to shame... I have a budget of $6 million... I have the technology, I have the capability, to build the world's first bionic thread. Better than threads were before. Better, stronger, faster... Well, maybe just the first one. :p

Anytime I see the word "pie" in English, I can't help thinking on its Spanish meaning...
