The Doctor's best companion

Bah, speaking of spoilers-- I haven't gotten to the part where Peri dies yet! I've only seen her in her annoying floozy incarnation! I suppose it's my fault for watching it all completely out of order. I started with the fifth doctor, watched the sixth, and then decided I wanted to go back and watch the fourth to see what everyone was so hyped up about. So I'm still on Tom Baker. Who is great, btw!

As for Sarah Jane, adding other companions seemed like a slippery slope. If you add any besides the four main ones, then it starts to seem justifiable to add others, and then you end up with Jack Harkness and Rory and everyone else on there and the list becomes unmanageably long. Which is why I just put the four I did up there, and encourage you to talk about your other favorites in the posts.

And yes, Trial of a Timelord rocked. I really, really want to see the Valeyard again, someday. And bow ties are cool. :D

Well the synopsis for The Pandorica Opens said he must face an ancient enemy
Maybe that could mean the Railyard Valeyard

I keep hoping for that, I really do! It would actually almost make sense, too!

Wait, you've seen Trial of a timelord? She dies in that.
I've also been watching them in a random order. It's hard to watch them in the proper order when half the episodes aren't out yet! I just buy which ever set takes my fancy.

I also watched everything out of order. I started at the beginning (Unearthly Child) and then just started watching whichever ones I found in whatever order I found them in, using the Wikipedia synopsis to not be totally confused. Then, I went back and watched all the ones I missed in order. I missed some of the Second Doctor fan recreations and the Curse of Fenric, but I will get back to it someday.

I don't have enough money to buy them all! I'm eyeing up the Davros set next (£35 for 7 serials, plus all davros audio plays isn't that bad. Plus, it's limited edition!)

The only doctor i have yet to see in much detail is Sylvester Mccoy. I've seen him in the movie (in which he holds the sonic screwdriver backwards, so they had to blur it out!), and some random episodes about the Cheetah people, that i thought was atrocious.

Anyway: OT:My favourite old series companion id probably going to be Adric. I was kinda fond of him, even if everyone else found him annoying.

What? I know that it looked like she died in that, but I could have sworn they said at the end that it was a trick of the matrix and she was actually alive married to some warrior king or something like that. I didn't think she REALLY died.

I use netflix and fan recreations (for missing episodes). :D

Also, Sylvester McCoy is awesome, but he suffered from some pretty awful writing (much like Colin Baker's first season). There a few really good episodes-Curse of Fenric is supposed to be really good (haven't seen the whole thing yet) but more good scenes in 'meh' episodes.

    My favorite:
    Doctor: Ace?
    Ace: Yeah?
Doctor: You know that nitro 9 that you're not carrying?
    Ace: Yeah?
Doctor: Can I borrow some of it?

And other silliness. Of course, the series was going into hibernation during this time so the good episodes are harder to pick out.

I hadn't gotten to that bit at the time of writing, but i just just finished the box set now, so i have now.

@acloremortis: We don't get netflix over here. The closest we have is lovefilm which usually delivers the discs scratched, and slowly. Ah well, watching them gradually gives me something to do for the next few years!

Actually I think my favorite companion is Bernice Summerfield, who not only wasn't in the new series, she wasn't in the old series either.

Oh, well. If you ever decide to live in America for some inexplicable reason, netflix is a must. It makes Who!viewing so much easier.
