Okami wasn't underrated. It was however underappreciated. Indeed it was victim to mediocre sales. The game deserved to do much better. I dunno how it sold on the Wii however.
I think Disgaea suffers from the same issues as Okami. I've never heard anything all that negative about it, but it tends to undersell.
Well, it does well enough to have 4 main games, like 3 portable ports of some of those games, and like 3 spin offs. I don't think that it and Okami are even in the same league when you compare them like that.

True, but Clover was re-absorbed into it's parent company of Capcom shortly after Okami's release and a good chunk of Clover employees were let go. Viewtiful Joe, another Clover product sold about as well as Okami had, and it got a sequel, so one can assume had Clover not been re-absorbed, we may have seen a sequel for Okami as well.
Disagea, on the other hand, has been put out by Nippon Ichi Software since it's conception, and though they have swapped localization companies, it's sold well enough in Japan for them to make more.
They still aren't exactly in the same league when considered in this light, but based on what I do know of both games prevalence in the states, they're games that people who have played them love, but there aren't that many who've played them.
Okami is something I need to replay because I enjoyed it very much, though next time I shouldn't use so many items because they practically made every boss fight a cakewalk and I couldn't even enjoy the final one. The only terrible thing about this game is that
they make you fight the same boss three times.
Also, looking at the games I own, the only things I have that could possibly be considered underrated are Elebits and Alien Hominid. I can't think of any other games I enjoyed that hardly anyone else did. Maybe Are You Afraid of the Dark: Tale of Orpheo's Curse. *shrug* I want to say Sanitarium too but it seems to be well-known in these forums.
Also, let's hope that the sequel will be met with higher sales - it would encourage a third game, and I'd love to see this franchise turn into a trilogy!
I must admit that with its present DRM measures for their last remaining PC customers, I consider Ubisoft to be in a process of extreme customer rejection (as referenced in my BG&E art), and I literally don't want them to do a second part in their present condition. I would not be able or willing to play this game.
Anachronox (2001)
Struggling with its generic graphics and lackluster role-playing elements, this game absolutely scores with its quirky characters, brilliant storyline, somewhat melancholic music, superb voice acting and laugh-out-loud humor. Sales, however, obviously got in the way of a second game, which is a real shame (as Anachronox ends on a cliffhanger).
Oh wow, yes. I just reinstalled this a couple weeks ago, and did a bit of work to get it to run. Anachronox is one of my absolute favorite games of all time, but I've never actually spoken with anyone who's played it, let alone really liked it.
My next vote for underrated game would probably be Sanitarium, for the PC. Largely terrible voice acting, and a couple of frustrating puzzles, but a great, dark game.
I think the DungeonSiege serie was kind of underrated. It should have had more roleplaying aspects, more interesting quests/level design and should have gotten rid of a few other quirks but beside of this, they still were great games which featured many wonderful new ideas, extremely pleasing backgroundloading engine and quite some epic music. I hope they don't screw up part 3. Oh and i further hope that not every hack&slay has to end in some boring lava level.

Games that are undersold, so the sales can go up a bit.
