Oh. My idea of a reasonable driving distance is six hours, but that's when I would be driving myself and perhaps a car full of sleeping people on a highway that pretty much goes the entire distance to where I'm headed. Twelve hours is okay when tag teaming with someone. Any more than that, and I prefer to fly (flying would probably also be cheaper too :D).

The beard-off will be mighty and epic, indeed. You better make good on our bet!

I dunno who all else is going from TTG but I'm sure a TTG lunch/dinner will be in order. I'm sure I will be eating lots of times so anyone and everyone is invited to eat with this TTG web monkey.

I will make good on my promise, don't ye worry I'm a man of honor. You can ask TomP

Yes, it will be and I shall hopefully be planning the lunch dinner thing when we all know who will be there.

    No, I looked it up.

5 tanks of gas at $35-$40 per tank = $200
A motel room with my AAA discount is $75 for the night i spend on the road.
So $300 to travel with food and that's cheaper then the cheapest flight at $375 round trip plus a rented car that I found.

I want a car so I can do other stuff at night.

I looked up the pricing from where I live and it would cost nearly $900 dollars by car (four gallons of gas each way plus motel and food) and only a little over $500 by plane. Of course, with a carpool, the car would definitely win either way. And San Rafael would be a much more doable trip--you could probably make it to Seattle without stopping overnight.

I plan on crashing in Portland and getting an early start the next day actually. Already all planned.

In my case, when I compared options taking the bus meant walking to the bus station, climbing in, getting out in Seattle and walking to the con. (I'm simplifying because there is a transfer, but that's just getting out and back in).
Taking a plane meant walking to the bus station, taking a greyhound to the city, then two buses to the airport, then the plane, then find a way from the Tacoma airport to the convention centre.
Oh, and also much more expensive (About 150% the price. International flight and all of that).
Not to mention I dislike airports. I like flying but airports... Getting there hours ahead of time and then waiting, and I never dare to do anything because I'm freaked out I'll miss the plane, so instead of reading, sleeping, playing games or whatever I could be doing once in the vehicle (bus or plane) I just wait without doing anything at all. It's very boring.

If Yare announces he's going, she'll walk if she has to.

There's a fair chance I'll be there, and if I make it, nothing would delight me more than meeting up with people from the forums.

Only if I make it! And if I do, well lucky it's not a contest. :D

Is there any particular day that's best to go? I'd most likely be able to do Friday and/or Saturday.

You only need an adult on site if you are 13 and lower (I believe)... So are you still not old enough?
  • edited June 2010
Yeah it's exactly that. I've been running the con circuit since I was 14.

Well, there's still the money issue and getting my parents' permission would be impossible so maybe some other time :(

PAX has officially sold out of 3 day passes 48 days early. If you still plan on attending, only day passes are available.

Hope to see more of you there!

Oh yeah! I'm going Sean! Can't wait to see you! We're going to have so much fun! We can hang out, and see the sites, and...

Yeah, this is a lie. I'm not going.

    Oh, hey. What's up?

    ...
So, my passport that's good for like 10 more years, and worked to go to the US in 2008, isn't accepted anymore (by the US).
I can't get a new passport yet because I need to finish up with immigration first.
Immigration says they'll look at my file in an estimated 7-8 months.

On the plus side, I might be able to go to PAX 2011.
I'm sorry guys :( I won't be able to make it this year. Have fun for me, will you?

I'll be gingerly making an appearance at PAX this year. Jolly Rover is going to be on Greenhouse (Penny Arcade's distribution service) so I figured it would be good to turn up.

TTG Lunch or Dinner? I'm should arrive at the airport on thursday, September 2, by 2PM PST (or UTC-8:00) if no plain delays occur. I'll sign up for a dinner!

What's this about a TTG (TellTale Games?) Dinner? I'm arriving Thursday at around the same time...
  • edited August 2010
It's a dinner where everyone is required to bring a camera and send me pictures after the fact.
