Alien Swarm
Did a search but didn't find anything on this. Anyone planning on picking this up via Steam in 2 days? Apparently, it's a free title from the Source SDK that allows for 4-player online co-op. It actually looks really fun for what appears to be a top-down shooter of sorts.
If anyone wants to get some games in, send me a Steam FR @ TheDeanPSU.
Here is a screenshot and a link to the title: http://store.steampowered.com/app/630/

Well all right sounds good to me.
That's awesome...it's too bad your friend wasn't included in the hiring.
He works for an awesome company who organise great games related events. It was mostly level design he did, I believe.
So i need to have a game that works with that engine then?
No, as I said, it's a new version of the source engine. The interesting thing here is that it's not SDK support, it's got it's own independent SDK.
Yes, confusing.
oh i would laughif someone creates a sam and max character model.
And a link to it's actual image on steam, to prove this isn't fake.
It was fun, but I liked UT2k4 proper more...
np: Autechre - M62 (Move Of Ten)
No, it's developed by Valve, not a small company.
Check the side bar information on the Steam page. The people who developed it work for Valve as employees.
Nono, It's a game by a small company that was then reworked for source and refined BY the small company who now work under valve in the L4D division.
So, this is a lie then?
Nope.
I don't see the problem with what I said.
Nope.
Nope.
1) 3 guys of the original team were hired by Valve.
2) The team have worked on Valve games, including both L4D's.
3) It's a smaller team, does that make it not a Valve game, The Orange Box was 3 new (split team) games, are each of these not Valve games.
4) I expect that more than the 3 guys hired worked on the game.
Also saying that it isn't a Valve game would mean that Team Fortress Classic and 2 aren't Valve games.
You are aware that a large proportion of Valve is hired from the mod community right? Team Fortress, Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat, they're all originally mods, and the people who created them as mods in their free time now work for Valve. That applies in a more limited extent to Portal and L4D as well.
Aaaaaawesome.
