Telltale Panel at PAX

edited October 2010 in General Chat
Okay guys, there's currently quite a large ocean between me and PAX, but I'm sure some of you managed to get there. The TTG panel was yesterday, and I haven't been able to find anything related to that online, except for the following. This was posted by Polychrome on the Monkey Island forum, but he/she focused purely on possible Monkey Island-news:
Who's here?

If they say anything Monkey Island related, I'll post here.

...

Panel stuff:

1. No MI stuff announced...yet.

2. Lucasarts licences NOT in trouble. They made this very clear when asked.

3. Hope somebody puts the video of the panel on youtube.

4. Winslow beats Morgan in popularity it seems.

Then there was this tweet by Vanaman:
thanks to everyone who came to the ttg panel and saw tycho turn into a velociraptor. #spoiler about 17 hours ago via Twitter for iPhone

He might be joking, but I do remember an old comic where Tycho actually turned into a dinosaur, so it might be hinting at a Poker Night-trailer/gameplay video.

So, anyone who went who wants to tell us all the juicy details? Someone from TTG who wants to upload a video of the panel?

Edit: Found the old Tycho-turning-into-a-dinosaur comic:http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/1999/2/26/

I was hoping to get a little more BttF news from PAX outside of the concept artwork and Christopher Lloyd voicing Doc.

The theme was "Murder at the Inventory", though I really wanted "Tax returns at the Inventory" :<

Somebody post a video! Or say something that isn't cryptic! What exactly happened at the panel? Inquiring minds like mine want to know!

Did you get pictures or some video footage?

I mean, Telltale might upload it, but we can't confirm that.

finney was there recording, so they're gonna put it up eventually.

    lets see... whatcha wanna know?
  • edited September 2010
    What's "Murder at the Inventory"?
  • edited September 2010
Well The Inventory is the bar that they hang out at, right? Well someone got murdered at it. The person we chose was Strong Sad. Basically it was a murder mystery with guest star tycho.
  • edited September 2010
Who were the other options for the victim?
  • edited September 2010
Also, is it a game, or just a fan-thing?
  • edited September 2010
um... i think desinge, paperwaite, sal, monte, er.. i think thats it?

edit: It's an official panel, but it's just a scene.
Basicly, they figure out which characters they want in the scene, then write a quick script, get people from the audience to voice the characters, then have a choreographer to choreograph the scene while there's Q&A.
  • edited September 2010
Wait...a Monkey Island character was an option? :D Awesome. I wish I had been there, damn! :D
  • edited September 2010
One more question: On a scale of 1-10, how big was the biggest announcement at the panel?
  • edited September 2010
you're gonna have to ask someone else that. i was being fairly indifferent, but i dont want that to be the opinions of all.
  • edited September 2010
Did they reveal anything new about Back to the Future or Jurassic Park?

You said the scene they created featured Tycho? Does that mean you got to see what his character model will look like in Poker Night at the Inventory? How reflective is the promotional artwork for the game of how he actually looks in-game?
  • edited September 2010
idk, tycho just looked like tycho except 3D

also tycho did become a velociraptor. it was great.

Was Tycho a toon-shaded model like Strong Bad, or was he rendered in more of the Sam and Max or Monkey Island style?

Also, velociraptor? Does that mean you got to see what the raptors are going to look like in the Jurassic Park game?

    i dont remember
    yes

Man, can't wait to hear from someone from TTG if they're going to put all that online anytime soon. I would love to see that.

Oh man! That was awesome! :D

Edit: Okay, so I recognize everyone except for the person sitting at the table with Ted Dudebrough... Our first glimpse at the protagonist of the Jurassic Park game, perhaps? After all, we did get to see both Marty and a raptor. :)
  • edited September 2010
Ooh, raptor looks great. And there's Marty! And yeah, I'd say the man sitting next to Dudebrough is from JP. That, or he's from CSI (or, I guess, BttF).

Does anyone know who that guy sitting next to Marty is?

    Dunk. Foreshadowing, perhaps?
  • edited September 2010
Hey, you're right. Doesn't mean there's going to be a Dank/Dunk-game in the future though (although that would be awesome). Dank is one of the first 3D-models Telltale made, way back in the day (before the release of Out From Boneville). They never used him in any game though (except on some of the unlockable cards in the original Hold Em).

    Unlockable cards? Huh?

    Unlockable cards? Huh?

Whenever you win in Telltale Texas Hold Em, you unlock a new set of card designs. It's been a while, but I think you can unlock 12 different card designs, or something like that. At the beginning of every round, the design on the back of the cards is randomly chosen from the ones you have unlocked so far. Two of the cards featured the 3D version of Dank, and one featured a more generic Grickle character. I'm sure there are topics discussing all this in the Texas Hold Em-forum, if you're looking for more info.

To make this post a bit less off topic: Jake mentioned that the Tycho model wasn't completely ready yet, and that's why he doesn't appear in the Poker Night-screenshots. How close is the Tycho in the Make-a-Scene video to the one that we're going to see in Poker Night?

We got it to "presentable for 20 seconds at PAX" but there's probably another week worth of work going into him. The outlines need a lot of fixing, he had no shadows or shading to speak of, and after that we may tweak the shape a tiny bit, too, to get his silhouette looking correct once all the shading stuff is in.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!! The Raptor looks so awesome!!! And very similar to the one from the first movie, my favorite one. Awesome! :D

I think "he" is a woman. Sarah Siddle from CSI?
  • edited September 2010
I think it may be Ian Malcolm from Jurassic Park.

Edit: Hmm, when you see the model again when Sam's talking to Featherly (1:02), it does look like a woman's legs...

It's most likely a CSI character.

there's a character from every one of our games/licenses in there, and that one that no one can figure out is a woman. so that should narrow it down.

... or jake can just give it away,
