Video game series that should return

edited October 2010 in General Chat
There are a certain aspect of game series that were once well and most of them are not remembered. So what game series you think should return? I got the idea of this after hearing about the new kirby game.

I suspect a serie means that there exist at least two games already. I'll name just 11...

Ultima, The Bard's Tale, Bone, Broken Sword (but only if it's really good again), Jumpman, ELITE, Dungeon Keeper, Archon, Paradroid, Chip's Challenge and just one good shooter again (Vanguard, Xevious, Hybris, Silkworm, Battle Squadron, ...). Sad times when people don't write shooters anymore.

That was such an.... intersting series... but yes! and a new cartoon series too!

I'd like to see a reboot of Quest for Glory (by far my favorite Sierra games) maybe just not let the hero become king so... many... times...

EARTHBOUND - there was a sequel planned ages ago (EARTHBOUND64) but it got scrapped T_T

BLINX - Mixed bag, some hated it, some loved it (any game where I can mess with the laws of Time/Space is awesome in my book)

Conker - Hard drinking british squirrel, what's not to love!

plenty more I cant think of right now...

That actually did come out. For the GBA, mind you but it's out there. Get an Advanced emulator and look up translations of Mother 3

Star Fox. I know there was the slightly pointless DS one and they've done Star Fox 64 for 3DS, but a new one would be ace.

Constructor. Sure the sequel Street Wars/Mob Rules wasn't very good compared to the first one but I think there should be another Constructor game based off of the first game and with the second games easier controls... Oh and the story mode should be optional unlike that other game and I've checked the company behind Constructor is still active so it's still possible, unlikely but possible.

    Beyond Good & Evil

...or does one game not count as a series?

The sequel is actually in production/development as we speak... err, type. It's being worked on by a small team in order to 'preserve it's soul' - which I think is a very good thing. Michael Ancel is still the head of production and the game will be once again published by Ubisoft. There's no release date yet, as it's nowhere near completion. Ubisoft's boss Yves Guillemot asked fans to 'be patient', but said that the team are aiming for perfection. (Consult Wikipedia for any further info). I just though I'd let you know, in case you weren't aware.

So, 'Beyond Good & Evil' is really more a series that will return, rather than one that should continue ;).

Anyway, one title in particular that I would like to see return is the 'Jedi Knight' (or 'Dark Forces') series. It was such a great series of games, and each game ranks as one of the best Star Wars games that I've ever played. The characters are brilliant, the stories are always top-notch, I personally think that the writing is really good, the gameplay is highly enjoyable, and the games overall just provided one hell of an experience. I really don't understand why LucasArts didn't continue this terrific game series, because it was good and successful. It disappoints me to think that I may never see another installment.

Yes, Yes, and Yes. I loved those games and it makes me sad to think we may never see Kyle again.

I would also like to add the KOTOR series to the list for very much the same reasons (even if the second one was cut short a little bit--still good though :D)

Microsoft doesn't like Conker. After CBFD they wrote a script fo a sequel, then they were sold. MS then said "No" to the sequel (which Nintendo said "yes" to before they were sold) and demanded a remake. The remake tanked due to being more censored, and from what I hear, worse then the original. Then MS said no more to the series.
    Ape Escape
There was a new one either made recently or about to come out in a year or so. It's mostly a PSP series now.

    @Spadge
They're remaking strangler's wrath and munch for PC, and Strangler's Wrath is getting a PS3 port. Then they said they're also in talks for expanding on the series, especially if those sell well.

Ones that are already released don't count. When I listed series that should continue I meant with completely NEW sequels.

And as far as the SMRPG to PM thing, I want a sequel to SMRPG that is 3D.

Oh, and I also forgot Police Quest.

Last I heard, (from Ragnar Tørnquist's blog and various other places) the game is not actually in development yet. The game is on either temporary or indefinite hold, depending on whom you ask. Hopefully they'll get around to making Dreamfall Chapters after The Secret World is completed, and not just announce even more MMOs...

The sequel for bad fur day was called "Other bad fur day". It had Conker as an unsuccessful king, and he spends all of his money on partying. And he then tries to escape from the castle walls. I made an online petition to get the development of the game back on the tracks. But when I send the certain amount of signatures to Microsoft. They rejected it. So in order for us to get a new Conker game, Rare has to be back at Nintendo.

Meh, I figured not much wwas going on. Interplayis probabally too focused on Fallout MMO rather then EJ4. But with the new HD remake selling well I'm sure Interplay's even more looking for 4, and/or remakes of the other two then 4.
And ever since Rare went with MS their games have saddly been lacking. they should go back to Nintendo.
