You're the ruler of the universe. What do you make Telltale do?

edited September 2010 in General Chat
I'm pretty impressed with the quality that's gone into Sam and Max Season One. I think there are a few things that need to be fine-tuned, namely situations and puzzle solutions need to get way wackier, but the episodes are quality. But as of now, what exactly Telltale will be focusing on after the season is done is... difficult to say. There's rumors that they have another IP in the works, though nobody knows whether it's original or familiar. There's a lot of the Bone story yet to cover. And of course, a Season Two of Sam and Max seems like a solid idea. They could go one of many directions at this point.

What I'm asking is if you had the choice, what would you have them do? It can be anything from obvious (more Sam and Max) to creative ("tell us the story of the radioactive giraffe who fought the dastardly Lassie Alliance, Telltale") to impossible (make new [place unused Lucasarts graphic adventure IP here] games!). It's your universe, do what you want with it.

I'd love to work with them on my graphic adventure design, but considering that I think my design document for it may have died with my laptop's hard-drive, I'm not sure I can say that. I'd really love to see them work on an entirely new IP, one that has no basis in reality, if you know what I mean. Something with an insane premise that has equal potential for drama and comedy, and most of all, will let them play to their strength; incredibly strong writing.

I'd love to see something original from Telltale. Like you, I love the quality of the Sam & Max episodes, and would love to see what those talented people can do with no restraints.

I'd say just go ahead and make a point and click adventure that they would love to play. My only stipulation is that it be a point and click adventure. hey, I'm the Master of the Universe. I can guarentee that the game will be an unmitigated success LOL!

Monkey Island 5. With Ron Gilbert, Bill Tiller, Tim Schafer, Michael Land, and all the Telltale guys who worked on Sam & Max.

discworld 3. Yes, I know of Noir but that never got the number 3 I think. I'm pretty sure It's another one of those series that's up for grabs pretty cheap (not that I know what sam & max costed). That or space quest 7, that must be available too, just get the same narrator as in 6 and you got my money, that guy was hilarious at times. And yes, something good new is always welcome.

Of course, Monkey Island, Maniac Mansion or full throttle are much appreciated, but probably a bit harder to get.

A handstand... I would make all of them do a handstand at the same time. While wearing swimsuits from the 1920s. Yes... I shall become ruler of the universe just to see that!

Oooh, yeah! And hire me too! Oh yeah, and assign a team to me with Dave Grossman on board to create Bad Timing 2, the sequel to the intensely popular game that was also published by TTG.

That sounds kind of evil and I'm kidding.

Nah, JP was right. It's two words. "licence" wasn't a word because it was misspelled. He's too clever for you!

That's similar to what I would have them do, only they wouldn't have the benefit of clones. There would be guys with whips to help motivate them, though.

    Hee hee...

I'd have them host an... action-adventure game.

    ;)

Ah! Ah! Ah! Maybe I've a little twisted humor sense even for a Sam & Max player standard, but you made me laughter like crazy! :o :D

Make them make a Sam and Max 3rd-person action-adventure game in the vein of Max Payne or Splinter Cell.

The story: They've kidnapped Max and left Sam out to die, but Sam breaks free of whatever they've put him in and declares that "today is not my day to die" and vows to rescue Max.

It should be a very stealth-oriented game; for example, Sam will climb into garbage dumpsters to hide from enemies. Whenever you try to shoot somebody, he will refuse and say such things as "that certainly wouldn't be sporting," "that wouldn't be very chivalrous," or "I don't want to get anyone mad."

I really don't know how such a game can actually be designed. But I just find it amusing to think of a game that played like a parody of its genre.

    No, too clever for you!

Each former British commonwealth should alter the spelling of their words to add/remove vowels so that they can have their own version of English, sort of like what America did.

    American English
    Canadian English
    etc..

That's what I would do if I was the ruler of the universe.

Edit: Accursed inability to read. Who knew that reading was required for an internet forum?

So, uh, how are you people? I'm fine. Uhm, so, how about that local sports team that is down on its luck/riding high?

I'd give a lot of money to them, so they could hire in more people, to finish games even more often than now!;) Like, two CSI games per year. One is just too little :p Then Bone more frequently than right now. Then *gasp* I'd contact LucasArts, to GIVE AWAY their licences FOR FREE except from Star Wars to Telltale (Because we all know what Star Wars can do to a company (see LucasArts...) after that they could sell Roger Foodbelly for us :p

Reacquire the license to finish the Bone series. I refuse to buy it because it's incomplete.

for the record, the only TTG games I haven't bought are Bone, CSI and Texas Hold 'Em.

Release a patch for the PC versions of ToMI and S&M:TDP that allows you to click in any walkable area and have the lead character walk to that spot. If need be, I'd make them hire someone whose specific job was to make that patch.

Alternatively, I'd make 'em make a Futurama game.

A science fiction adventure for a intelligent grown up audience. This might be something from a Jack Vance universe, The Dig II or something completely different, it doesn't matter this much as long as it's brilliant.

I would let Telltale to nothing except resurrect long dead LucasArts adventure games.

What's that, you have an exciting new original IP you think has a lot of potential? NO! I want more DotT!!!

Sam and Max, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Tales of Monkey Island, Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People, Puzzle Agent, Penny Arcade, and Back to the Future.

    In whichever order I'd like.

Rub my feet... what? No-one said it had to be game related! But anyway, I jest... I would have them do free shipping to far away countries... so I could get much Telltale stuff.
