Custom Icons
There is a Custom Icon thread over in the Monkey Island forum, and after much fiddling with making MI icons, I also started making icons for my game folders, and it was then that I thought that there should be a thread for custom made icons (ie. icons used to replace the default icon for a program) here in the General Chat forum.
First, if anyone cares, here is a template that was used to aid in making many a fan-made Monkey Island icon.
Second, if you are going to/wondering how to make a custom icon easily, a method that I have found highly effective is to use an image (preferably .png) that is 256x256 in dimension, and upload it to http://www.iconverticons.com which will convert the image into an icon file which contains every available size.
(it can also convert icon files back to normal images as well)

Telltale Games:
LucasArts:
Sierra Online:
and Misc.: (eg. contains Jolly Rover and GPOVI)
Also here is an icon I made for Sam & Max: Hit the Road, which I got from the cover art
Eh, the last one looks better in use.
Is this better for the third? (I resized the width a bit)
I'll be honest, not really.
I currently use icons for my TTG Sam & Max Seasons folders that The Highway made.
I did LucasArts myself, and I'm using SunnyGuy's season 1 icon, The Highway's season 2 icon, and BlankCanvasDJ's 305/season 3 icon. The Murray icon is actually the Monkey Island category, and I've been meaning to find something else to replace it and to make a TTG icon so I can make a category for Puzzle Agent and Poker Night.
Inside the categories, I'm using Awesomepantsman's badge icon for Hit the Road and Chyron's icon's for the classic versions of the first two Monkey Island games.
Right now, I'm still looking for decent icons for the Monkey Island series, Maniac Mansion, Zak McKracken, Loom, Full Throttle, and The Dig.
Here are the custom icons:

Anyone have a custom Day of the Tentacle and/or Maniac Mansion icon?
I'm still looking for icons for Maniac Mansion, Zak McKracken, Loom, Full Throttle, and The Dig. I'd make 'em myself (or try), but I have no ideas for the former two and have never played the latter two.
Oh, and today I made a Source Engine icon so I could have a shortcut to The Stanley Parable.
Monkey Island:
Sam & Max:
I was going to do one for Hit The Road but I really can't imagine anything better than the ones Awesomepantsman and Sunnyguy did.
am i the only one who thinks the poxed elaine looks freaky/scary when you look at her drawn in that kind of style
tales of monkey island ep 4 - elaine. what's this? the sent of betrayal
Oh. You mean "betrayal."
I'm confused. Was that a typo, or did you think she said "betrawn" ingame somewhere?
It's just Elaine's British accent that has her say "betrayal" that way.
You need an image editor that allows transparency, and preferably also layers. I have Corel Paint Shop Pro (as it is considerably less expensive than Photoshop). MSPaint doesn't observe transparency, so you can't use that.
First, open the template and the other image in question in your image editor.
Resize the second image to whatever size is needed, then copy and paste it as a new layer into the image of the template.
Next, reorder the layers so that the template image is on top.
Optional: If you wish to have a section of the image that protrudes from the edge of the border, you must re-copy/paste the desired section of the second image in as a new layer and put this layer on top of the template layer.
Now, merge the layers together.
Use the Magic Wand tool (with anti-alias enabled and an acceptable level of tolerance) and select the white area (and only the white area) around the outside of the template.
Delete it.
Optional: you may also invert the selection (ie. select the part of the image that is not transparent) and Crop to Selection, which removes the excess amount of transparent border.
Resize the image (while preserving the aspect ratio) and then the canvas size, so that the image size is 256x256 (the largest icon size), and Save As (or Export to) PNG.
Post the resultant image on these forums so we can see it.
When you want to convert it to an icon file, go to www.iconverticons.com to do so very easily.
